It's very normal. Especially influencers who are just collecting some referrals to some people.
You should be aware if you want to start trading, you should identify your goal, you should not say you are only trading because someone told you or for easy money, you should expect some negative too, trading can make you bankrupt too.

If you don't like to deal with complicated trades and the market itself as most times, choose to be an investor and just hold those cryptos that you like for a period of time.

Trust me it's a good venture only for that 1% of people who have the right mindset, right knowledge and obviously a bit of luck as well, if your friend is making profits and even if he tells you all his strategy there are still high chances you'll not start making money in markets through trading. 2 years of successes for your friend? Well we bull market for last 2 years so it was quite easy to profit when almost all coins pump 5-100x in that period and whole market pumped from $150B to $2.9T (20x) (total marketcap of all coins including bitcoin). I'm not surprised at all that you have a rough experience now when whole market dumped from 2.9T$ to 1.8T$ in last 5 months and some projects dumped 80% already. Its hard time even for experienced traders.

if you are just starting ... limit your entry to minimum. Like 10$ per trade. This will limit your learning cost because most likely you will wipe out your portfolio many times. Especially during bear market.

Do not worry this is natural, it is very rare that for someone that is new to this market success will come immediately to him, this is something that takes time but fortunately for you there is something you have that most traders in the market do not have, and that is a mentor you can ask questions.

You just started. You can't expect to make profit as soon as you start. In fact not everyone makes profit from trading. in finance industry especially crypto market better dont give any financial advice to someone. maybe someday our financial advice could be wrong and they loss alot till finally our rellationshipe be broken. let them decided their own we just warn about the risk involved. if we met bad boy they could ask us to refund their loss that caused our advice.

Is there any particular reason why he shown his profits? Because there are referral programs out there in the exchanges where they can make money for the every trade you complete there.

Don’t believe what most people tell you. It was easy making money out of crypto just like it was making money in the stock market after that covid March crash. You could of bought anything and made money.

The real traders are those who keep the money and don’t lose it. Look at how many people suffered huge losses in the last 6 months or so. If he's earning good as a trader it doesnt mean you can have the same fate too if you try becoming a trader and vice versa. Thus its a must that you have your own understanding and knowledge and not just blinded by the profit that you can possibly earn. I'm pretty sure his friend isn't a pro trader. A real pro doesn't act that way and won't brag about his earnings from trading but instead tell him how hard it is to dive in that field and teach him from his experiences.

If you heard about his success stories, that doesn't mean that he hasn't been into rough situations. He failed often many times for sure because trading isn't always about winning and taking profits. You will still face tough situations. Trading isn't a shortcut to success. That's definitely a wrong mindset. You have to invest time and knowledge for you to reach your target goal. most people will give advice like you said when asked about investment planning in current conditions. the market looks better even though the correction could still happen again. but it's much better now. and it is natural for people to buy now and make their long term investment plans. After a few weeks of hesitation with very fast changing market conditions, I think it's a good time now for us to get in and start buying back.

We are lucky if we have a friend like that that cares for our safety and doesn't hide things to us. These are the ones that we should value not those who are only there because they have hidden agenda's but anyway no matter how aware we are of the risks, mistakes can still be inevitable sometimes but we shouldn't rattle as mistakes can also help us to become good at what we are doing.

Trading and gaining profits is only achieveable for those that have a lengthy experience in the space and believe me when I say, all traders in the space must lose, that's fact that one can't change but learn to adapt to the phase of the critical ups and downs of the market. The thing is that if somebody have not experience the what his friends experience in trading the person will think that maybe the friend is discouraging him or her not to be successful in trading. I believe on my own that threading have its own history and that history of threading stand with the experience of others so I have to use the experience of others with yours so scared through in trading.

Another of such is the foreign exchange market (FX) but I guess currency market goes for that.

When preparation means opportunity it will turn to success. Usually many traders do prepare their set up during the weekend so that as the week go by and the market plans mature then the triggers are released just like hunting games for kill but a trader who doesn't prepare will end up confused in the market hence sitting at the computer all day with little or no success.
