The jockey and the cattle racers takes care of the horse though. Diagnosing the heart is probably just ignored as long as it can run, I guess its what matters for them.

We probably can only stop it when there is the decline of horse population but today that's not a problem. We still have wild horses in our country, the government made it illegal to catch them. But the ones in the captivity and bred for many purpose, one is racing. Its a tradition, tourism and business which kinda hard to stop just like cockfighting. The government also made it legal for this kind of business and if its making money, it will not be banned.

Banning is not good in the old days, horse racing is a tradition and Horses are created for transportation and moving we are just using their innate capability, we are not forcing them to run because they will run even if they are in a wilderness, so why not we take care of them and let them run and we bet on their innate capability,

If horse racing with innate ability is part of traditional competition then I'm sure everyone will support it, but if every horse racer with ambition wants to win by various means of cheating then race organizers should consider or disqualify horse racers from similar competitions.

This is a very ancient sport/game. It is not going to get banned. Probably never. Lots of football players die of heart attack every year. They run like horses too. The are many similarities between a horse race and a soccer game. Just because footballers die sometimes, do we need to ban football/soccer? This logic don't make any sense to me.

As for comparisons with human sports, I agree with you, but there is a nuance: everywhere there is some acceptable percentage of deaths after which sport becomes unacceptable. For example, it was great in boxing before, and after the legislators ordered the boxing federation to fix it or close it, doping requirements and some rules were changed in favor of athletes. This greatly reduced the number of deaths in the ring (and out of it).
Now the important question is what is the actual mortality rate among racehorses and whether we can consider it acceptable to require a change in the format of the competition or something else to reduce it.

We have to accept that some animals are being used to make money. Some of them function that way not just because its necessary but tradition. Horse raising will always be a traditional game and it will never be banned because there will be lots of gamblers that will disagree. There are really unacceptable animals being used in gambling but we have to deal with it.

When I was young, I used to read a Japanese comic book about horse racing. In that story, the horse is happy and develops a strong relationship with its caretaker, trainer, and jockey. Sure, the enemy or the "evil horse" uses drug and has dark backstory behind it. Anyway, what I want to say is, there are good apples and bad apples. You shouldn't cherry pick bad apples and then discard all of it. It's best to regulate the industry better so we can be assured that everyone is happy (except rekt bettor, lol).

I was spending some time with my friends parents and there was not only a huge party but all of them placed p2p bets on the horse racing. They asked me to come over as well, the ending was deeply sad and essential to cover : The horse died after winning of a heart attack.
The horse was presenting signs of heart attack on the camera but no one was actually even giving it a second thought and at the end when it was the last lap, all the horses got whipped excessively hard as well. That gets me to my point "why do you support horse racing?" This is honestly far to cruel to continue.

Are you aware that most of the horses go through slaughter as well? Some of them have very bad injuries making them not even the least bit useful for the business therefore they are killed without second thought. I do hope people would get more aware and try and steer away from *horse racing*.

I really like animals and therefore i don't watch or bet on stuff like horse or dog racing because everyone that is not completely naive knows that most of those animals are having a pretty bad life. Like you already said those poor horses get whipped so excessively during a race just to keep on running even though they are already completely exhausted. That being said i don't think that we will see a ban on horse or dog racing anytime soon. As others in this thread have already mentioned, horse racing is probably one of the oldest sports out there and there is also a huge amount of money involved. We can just hope that changes will be made in order to improve the live of the animals that are involved.

When compared to the wild world, even under such extreme loads, horses have a better life than if they lived in nature. There are cases when someone managed to live to old age are extremely rare. I still don't know why the use of horses for race that always involves gambling are not abolished. We have laws that are protecting animals useage and these laws have to be respected but it looks like the government are not active in demonstrating and putting those laws in proper use.

Thanks for this. It is the same thing I tried to argue that it is too much stress for the poor horses. Yes horses can gallop and run but that should not be taken to mean they do not get tired. Like in real human sports the athletes can throw in the towel or stop when tired but animals can not do that. Even when they show signs of fatigue their owners may overlook that and force then to continue. This is not good at all.

Stroke are still happening even if you are healthy, I know horses that are into racing are being taking care of because there’s a lot of money involve on this and the owner of the horse will not put his horse in a race if he knows it is not fit for that, this is just an unfortunate event and of course this will continue even if we saw a lot of horses died during the race every year. You want horse race to be banned? Then you should want human 100 meter, others short distance and marathon races to be banned too.

Heart attack usually happened whenever a race is going on, so i think its always inevitable regardless of how fit the horse seemed before the race starts. And this is the reason why there are certain rules when it comes to this kind of animal racing.
They have protocols on how to handle their horses before the race.
However, some owners are opting to utilize drugs and other enhancement methods for their horses.
Now, this is out of control of the governing body because they mostly found out such cases after the race, once one of them died after the event.

I am not a supporter of using animals for betting or gambling purposes. Not only do they die in their matches, they also undergo training, diet, supplement, and overall lifestyle that are not only severe but also unnatural to them.

I had no idea about any of this, and I am saddened to find out. I do not agree with those who downplay the importance of the issue, because we have evolved to societies where animal abuse is minimal, unlike what happened a few hundred years ago. The problem is that, as has been commented, since it is such a deeply rooted custom and around which there are so many economic interests, I do not see it being banned in the near future.

For me, cruelty on the horses are being subjective. Maybe in some cases but we can't generalize it as " it always happened". How these horses will be fit for horse racing if they will treat badly? There are even owners who treat their horses as part of their family and will do anything just to make them fully healthy and condition on a racing day.

We should not open up a topic here and then tell everyone that they need to stop horse racing. That should be done in an official petition. Don't just look at the negative sides as there are advantages that horse racing brings to people too.

Simple as it is, if you are against it, then don't support it. That's already a big contribution on your part.
