Horse Racing and Gambling on it should be banned

I was spending some time with my friends parents and there was not only a huge party but all of them placed p2p bets on the horse racing. They asked me to come over as well, the ending was deeply sad and essential to cover : The horse died after winning of a heart attack.

The horse was presenting signs of heart attack on the camera but no one was actually even giving it a second thought and at the end when it was the last lap, all the horses got whipped excessively hard as well. That gets me to my point "why do you support horse racing?" This is honestly far to cruel to continue.

According the this site: https://www.horsedeathwatch.com/background.php they have seen more than 2000 deaths in around 5500 days. Most of the horses die during the match as well, they also have instances where they are exploited using drugs (doping).

Are you aware that most of the horses go through slaughter as well? Some of them have very bad injuries making them not even the least bit useful for the business therefore they are killed without second thought. I do hope people would get more aware and try and steer away from *horse racing*.

I honestly second you word by word, and funny enough, this is exactly the thing I always think about any time I gets clip of animal racing, makes me wonder, what exactly do we gain from forcing animals to run in the field,?
My guess is that it's nothing, I honestly agree with the op that animal racing should be banned, cus I see no need for it when we humans already have many hundreds of thousands of  games to choose from, must we involve animals

With the huge taxes they imposed and the many industries and companies that the horse racing industry is supporting, I don't think it's even possible especially for third world countries like ours where the unemployment is very high, if they clamped horse racing, the unemployment will rise and revenue will decrease.
Horse racing is much better to maintain than cock fighting or any other sports where the animals involved are fighting each other to the death, the government should just impose strick regulation.

Depending on economic status or situation yet government wouldnt really impose ban or restrictions on something that generates higher revenue or taxes and they wont be boggled up with those cruelty issues
and stuffs because what matter the most is economic development and less priorities on other aspects such as animal consideration or protection but if there would be lots of appeals and complaints
then they might be considering that but its unlikely to happen and i would be sure of that.

All of your opponents and their fans will use this and they will try to turn this into a reason why not to vote for you. I remember reading somewhere that the reason they just kill the injured horses instead of trying to rehabilitate them to its full health is that it is expensive and even if the horse has been recovered to it's full health there is no guarantee that it could perform like before.

Yes, horses also break psychologically. 

If a horse has been seriously injured while racing, it is likely that he will not be able to fully recover psychologically.  Even if the injury has completely healed, the horse will run less quickly and more cautiously.  It happens at the level of instincts. 

At the same time, it is easier for an athlete to recover psychologically in such situations.  There are special psychological methods of recovery after severe injuries.  There is also a pharmacological solution to such problems by taking appropriate drugs. 

However, most of these methods do not work with animals. 

But sending horses to be slaughtered is inhumane.

It is unlikely that in the foreseeable future it will be possible to exclude horse racing from the types of sports competitions.  As well as camel racing in some Middle Eastern countries.  All these events are so traditional, have lasted for centuries and even millennia and literally constitute an integral element of the national culture. 
For example, in England it is even impossible to imagine that the British would refuse such competitions.  So unfortunately no animal advocates are able to cope with this task. 
And horse, and, by the way, camels, too, and so will continue to die during the race and after them.

Maybe before the ban is implemented, it is necessary to communicate with many parties to discuss its effects. People need to be explained why it is no longer allowed to use animals for gambling just for the sake of human satisfaction. If the government can approach many parties and reach out and provide understanding to them, they will certainly understand and will not rebel. It will take time to change their perspective to understand the ban's purpose better.

I agree about the hypocrisy. And if we continue the reasoning in this direction, then there are many jobs that are harmful to health, but still they exist. It is rather strange to make a fuss about the (presumably) high mortality rate of racehorses against such a backdrop. It's probably good that gradually people are more and more worried about animals - this indicates a growing standard of living, but I would say that those who have already raised their standard of living should first worry about people who have not yet grown up than about animals.

^ I think this will not work in my country, once it is prohibited and banned activity, it should be always banned and no one will prohibit the law.
Even though you have a higher position as a political power, there is nothing you can do because for sure there will be people who will report you as a concerned citizen of those horses. Just because in my country, we have animal welfare and rights, fighting the animal cruelty and there should not exist the animal abuse.

That's also a thing, dog racing and dog fights. It's seen in some countries and people are enjoying to see how cruel they're doing. I'm not a dog lover but I do feel the people who are really in love with their pets that it's not a good thing to watch that they suffer just for the pleasure of the people who manages them. And the same goes for the specific horse racing.

It seems that banning animals for betting will have something to do with other things but if the government can provide other bets that can attract gamblers like them playing animal racing bets, maybe the ban will work.
But what is clear, this will surely cause a long debate between the government and the betting providers because it will obviously reduce the income of the betting providers because the number of gamblers who bet on animal betting will definitely decrease sharply.
We can wait for the next update news from the government and hopefully, that could be a win-win solution for both sides.

I don't think it should be banned, it should be virtualized.

I have seen in the past virtual horse races where you can bet. And this way no horse gets damaged or abused in this sport. I'm not sure if someone offers this game now. But it could be a nice project for big casinos like Roobet or Stake.

Well, if horse racing can be sort of animal cruelty, i guess once it becomes virtualized, no one will dare to suggest banning it. I used to bet on virtual horse racing before and for me, every game is still exciting, same feeling when we watch them physically. I agree that in this case strict regulation makes more sense than an outright ban, compared to cockfighting running alongside other racehorses is nowhere near as bad, the issue is the care the racehorses receive as without a doubt there has been evidence of the industry treating racehorses in ways which are inhumane, but if this can be reduced significantly through a heavy regulation then I do not see why horse racing would need to be banned.

Man is an animal, only that he is a higher animal. All big mammals have the same internal organs like man and this organs carry out the same functions in both man and animals. Anything that causes a horse stroke will also cause a man stroke long ago because horses are stronger than man. Some of the animals may be healthy before the race but can develop illness during the race like it also the same with man. Have you not seen people slump and die because they develop cardiac arrest? These are people who were healthy before leaving their homes and yet it happens to them.

It should be backed by science stroke on human is very much different in some way from horses, human develop it over time because of abuse on what he eats and what he thinks, horses are made to run, if it's a different animal race where the nature of them is not to run like monkey or turtle then it can develop depression on these animals.

Right and strict supervision and diagnosis should be implemented to fully check the horse's condition, horses can and will run they are created to run but it should be within their limit and must not be drugged to reach the desired results.
