Well  I would like to know how you would behave if you were not so tightly controlled by your wife  I came across cases (although these were cases with students) when a person, in connection with the move, got out of strict guardianship and in a very short time ruined his life with bad habits (for example, online games).

That's what happens when we don't follow the basic rules of gambling. But I think you have learnt your lesson.
Most of us have faced this because of the uncontrollable urge to recover the money we lost in the previous bets.
Thus we end up using all our money to recover the amount we used since the start of gambling.
But it's better to limit our losses for the day and come back another day if we are losing a lot on a particular day.
Controlling the emotions is where many fail and hence lose all their money.

I agree, every gambler should know when to pause to take their time and cool their heads in-order to make a balance decision and save yourself from a possible lose if you decide to play again. It is that simple, it is true that no one wants to lose money when they are gambling however that is the reality we have to face as the house edge basically guarantees that over the long term we are going to lose some money.

However if you can control yourself then those losses are not really that important as they will be on the low side, but some people cannot accept this and as such they let their emotions to surface and get indignant that they have lost, then they bet more than what they had in mind during the session and that is when the stories of massive losses actually happen.

I'm not really surprised by OP's experience as casinos are the easiest way to bust or lose money I have proven that myself, you can lose everything in one bet, if you're looking to make money you'll always be tempted to go all out and bet everything if you're just want to enjoy playing you'll not put everything in one bet, you'll take things easy and make most of the money that you allocate to play with.
