Hello everyone, I'm new here but not to crypto, and I must say that I'm totally excited to find a forum dedicated to bitcoin and crypto generally.  Before signing up here, I was skeptical about the credibility of this website, reason being that I have come across some other websites as well that have bitcoin in their names like "bitcointalk", but all they do is advice you to invest with them.

 So far in my very short time here, I have opened a lot of pages here and as far as I can see, this website is unlike any I have come across having bitcoin or crypto in their names.

I hope my time here will yield life changing results, what do I need to know?

There's a significant difference — Bitcointalk doesn't sell you anything. It's just an online forum where people talk about bitcoin/cryptocurrencies.

That would set you apart from about 90%+ of the users who sign up here, but do not bother to read about the forum they are on.
There are thousands of helpful threads around the forum which would help you grow in Bitcoin and also acquaint you with how the forum works, the rules posted above is one of them. Also be on the lookout for stickies; they are threads pinned to the top of different boards and give basic information about those boards or general Bitcoin knowledge.

that's true, but I suggest to OP to still be cautious since the forum is riddled with scammers. don't be afraid to ask if you have questions regarding a certain project, about the credibility of a user you want to transact with, etc...

also, just to add to what mk4 shared, I suggest reading this thread too "Newbies - Read before posting" it is a very useful thread for users that are new to the forum

Welcome to the forum. It's good that you've found out one of the best place to acquire knowledge, most especially about Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency in general. There are a lot of platform out there that may not be able to serve the same purpose bitcointalk in serving. Welcome to this forum. I hope you enjoy your time to read all things here and learn many things. You can read on Bitcoin subforum or other subforum because that can give you more knowledge about crypto.

If you want to invest in crypto, the first lesson is only invest with the money you can afford and don't break the limits if you don't have skills to analyze. Don't try to trade if you don't know how to trade.

The first time I knew Bitcoin/crypto, just like what you are experiencing now, Crypto I know through google/internet, Forums not yet, I read and understand about Bitcoin, but not 100%, knowing the true meaning of crypto, I think it's a joke.

As time went by, I found Forums and started to learn with confidence especially in the field of crypto especially Bitcoin, Gradually I understand and understand how crypto works, it's real, not a joke, I finally found out over time in fact crypto has become global.

What's wrong with someone giving advice to another person in this forum?. Did you make a research why this forum is created and what is the purpose of Bitcointalk forum?. If not then Bitcointalk forum is a place or community where people around the world who knows Bitcointalk forum is sharing new ideas, existing ideas in other platform, learning and helping those who are having trouble like their wallet, mining rig and other crypto related problem.

Some people are very vulnerable to the influence of others, and this can often lead to serious financial losses. When someone asks whether or not to invest in Bitcoin, then they should be explained the advantages, and also the disadvantages that such investment brings.

Although this is a forum that discusses Bitcoin and much more, some use it as a place where they are just trying to earn something or get financial advice.

I do get the point but op only thinks that this forum is all about giving advice to another person which you know it's not. I get why op think that this forum is just people who are giving advice to other people is because op didn't know Bitcointalk yet and why it is created. Maybe soon, he will know that it's not just about that but also sharing knowledge, learning about crypto related information that many wanted to learn from experts. That's why I ask, what's wrong about giving advice to another forum users.

This is already bitcointalk. And while the name suggests that this forum is all about Bitcoin, it actually is not. Surely you can talk about Bitcoin in all its aspects here, but you are also allowed to discuss about altcoins, gambling, economics, politics and society, and even off-topics. There is even a marketplace here and a currency exchange section.

I’m a bit surprised that you’ve been in crypto for a while and you’ve already encountered a number of sites dedicated to it but it’s only now that you’ve discovered this forum. This is the oldest forum dedicated to Bitcoin, and which Satoshi Nakamoto himself/herself/themselves founded.

It is correct that no one will present or pressure you to invest with them here. This place is like the bitcoin it's and the things in here are also decentralized, such as the trust system and merit system but thr only difference is that here is a forum, the must be admins, staff and moderators to keep here going..

Speaking about what you expect here. You will expect bitcoin discussions as the name implies. There are places you will discuss about the economy, politics   football and gambling, altcoins and even if you want to develop a project

It's a good thing your here and I must congratulate you to have found this forum and in all, I trust your in the right place although, you still have to exercise caution. Your already being careful and that's nice and I'll suggest you stay the part. There are always such individuals whose intentions are to plan misdeeds towards others and they very much gere as well as everywhere else. The difference is, they might not be so open as in other platforms following the close moderation of bitcointalk. Be open enough to seek opinion amidst doing your own research on every promising project or presented opportunity. It might save you the long run.

And more importantly if you wish to stay here for a longer time, be familiar with and keep to the rules of the forum.
