Commentary is underated in sports and commentators are not giving enough recognition for the role they play in sports.

I had this recent experience where I streamed live a recent premier league game and it had no audio, although it was expected to be an exciting game, I did not enjoy the game, not until the audio came up and i could now hear the commentary.

Commentators add colour and enhance our viewing experience, they are well informed about the sport and the teams in contest, and give real time updates on a live game that can even make someone new to a sport pick interest. Without commentary and sports commentators, some sporting games will be entirely very unexciting and eventually boring to watch.

Can you enjoy your sports viewing experience without commentary and  commentators?

IMHO, watching sports without those commentators certainly lose my interest and excitement in the game. Most particularly if you are new to the game, having some sports commentators could be very helpful as they make us understand more about the game through the updates they keep on giving and on their expert analysis they made. As most of them are not just those regular viewers but some of them are former players and even coaches in certain sports, the reason why their views and concepts of the game are very valuable to hear.

Not really that a huge role but i do rather say that it is really having that relevance of its existence on any sports that we are watching where these announcers or commentators do really make out that kind of vibe

Basically, OP just has an "minor issue" with the commentary when watching the Premier League.

I don't agree though that just because of his experience, it was considered commentary is underrated in general. Maybe just a slight technical issue happened during the Livestream that's why the audio was turned off during that time.

Being called underrated seems not applicable. Commentary obviously is part of a live stream, especially in a Premier League and minor issues really happened.

What you said about the commentators is true, we can get the latest updates about the match, one of them from the commentator.
In addition, commentators also usually give us an idea of ??the matches that will be played, we understand more about the situation of
the match. Sometimes commentators make the match more interesting, because usually the commentators have good knowledge and
they can tell their predictions about the match that will start. Therefore, almost every sports match that I watch there is always a commentator
who accompanies the match, from before the start to the end of the game. Because the commentator's goal is to educate the audience about
sporting events. So for me commentators are inseparable from the world of sports and should always be around, because commentators are

It's a big NO, I can't enjoy a football game without commentary and commentators. They are what keeps the game alive, because they tell all the actions happening live in the game. Just imagine watching a whole champions league with commentary, it would be a boring one for fans. Commentators especially experts like John Champion and Jump Beglin are my favorites, a game can't be bored with these two on duty. They would even tell you each player autobiography in the game and his recent records set in the league.

For me, it's a hit or miss there are matches where I don't mind not having a commentator and sometimes it's better that way because there are commentators that pick sides and focus on them instead of giving time for both teams. I think even without commentators overall it'd be easy for me to keep watching as long as there's an active chat since it usually provides that same vibe of watching a game together with a lot of people. I still agree that commentary really brings the best out of sports even if it's a less interesting match all it takes is one good commentator to really make the game more entertaining to watch.

Commentators are the one who gives more life and colors when watching these sports especially in the big league when you don't usually know or you cannot somehow confirm in your eyes who's carrying the ball or who managed to get that points, the commentator will do that job for you and until then you can confirm what you're seeing.

Of course these sports league won't hire commentators and pay huge amounts of money if there's indeed no need for them to be there.

Not only on becoming famous but it is really that good to hear off comments along the way when you are watching a game.Of course they would really be having that kind of focus on top player of a certain team
whenever it do make out some move which it cant really be denied that it do really affect out on what would be your impression towards it.You wont really able to appreciate if you cant see

They serve their purpose but of course not all commentators are ok because you can hear some who are not fair enough to comment. Commentators are part of the media and we all respect media, this is the biggest reason why players right now are very popular and without that exposure, this can be just an ordinary basketball league.

It's because they have their own bias. I've heard of those commentators that were hype with their idols as they've become a commentator who is also playing the part of being a die hard fan.
They should be fair and remain neutral when it's all about their job and casting. But well, that's okay if they're not even being bothered by their management. It's very normal to hear and see those commentators so, just get used to it and enjoy those games.

In Dota 2, I think I can watch even without commentators. It's because I'm trained to do so to make my watching in silence.

But it's fun to hear commentaries while watching and I'll choose that than to put my watching experience in silence. I'm doing that because of some situation when I'm watching.

They portray a huge role to hype each play, good or bad and that's connecting them with the viewers that are truly fans and passionate with the sports or esports that we watch.

Much depends on the personality of the commentator. In my country many commentators have a corresponding reputation and viewers prefer to watch either without sound or with field sound ) And for example, if the viewing takes place in the company of friends (beer, etc.), then no commentator is needed, since in this case each viewer is a commentator. In general, I have nothing against commentators if they are professional and do not obviously support this or that team.

I also have nothing against them.

It is that when I watch, I do some other stuff and I have to put it on silence so that I can multi task and that's not new to me. But when I'm free and do not do other things, I'll put it back in volume.

It's fun to watch and hear those commentators when it's about play by play. But I just don't take their opinions regards personal matters on what they think about each player or teams.

Different people have different interests. Some used to do multiple tasks at a time. For example used to watch a match, keeps surfing the internet and does something else on the other side. For such people these commentary will help to have a look whenever something special happens in the match. Myself used to hear the commentary, because they used to share more information regarding the players and the match in comparison to the past.

It really all depends on what the sports is and who the commentators are. In some sorts the commentary can be be made by some pretty knowledgeable people where you can learn a lot which could lead to more successful gambling. In other commentary there’s plenty of times where I’d rather just turn the sound off. There’s a reason Fox just settled on a deal with Tom Brady to provide commentary for 10 years at 350 million dollars, because it does matter!

Even if the match or the event is exciting I could not watch it without these commentators they add value excitement and information to the matches they are the voice of the match or the events, even if you don't know much about the sports that you're watching you'll get insight and information by just listening to these commentators.
