Argentina is about to launch bitcoin education in their curriculum,  this is going to take place in 40 High schools with about 4,000 students.

I dare say 40 schools in argentina are 'amazing' where other countries learn Bitcoin only as a group method in schools, But it's a different story in Argentina. This 'curriculum' is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

Meaning: Bitcoin has become a legal subject, which students must study, Bitcoin lessons will automatically be included in the curriculum exam in every period conducted by the local school.

I am sure that in the future, if schools in Argentina include Bitcoin in the curriculum, from now onwards the Argentinean community will already know and memorize Bitcoin, it will not be something foreign to them in the future.

To be honest I'd rather prefer if schools had a subject of investing and finance by default, rather than Bitcoin specifically. Explain to the students how to save money and what investment instruments are available, then just let them decide themselves what they should invest in and what the allocations are.

They miss that thing as these teachers and professors wanted to make their students just work after graduation. 
 
They just teach us how to account for expenses and incoming money but do not teach us how to invest and where we put our money if we already have it. In fact, I'd learn how to invest outside school, from friends, and from social media. May having Bitcoin in the school curriculum is a good idea to spread awareness but also it is a need to include the discussion about blockchain technology.

Always there arises a question why bitcoin. The better outcome takes place educating students about blockchain technology. It would be very practical when taught about the technology along with finance. Most of the time students doesn't know what they're studying and where it can be used. When we teach technology students will understand the wide usage of blockchain technology which can be used anywhere. Further taking the technology to financial effectiveness is the bitcoin. Good initiative, which needs more planning as the students easily grab it.

It might just be the beginning of something that will have a big impact in the future. So maybe we don't know what they will teach specifically other than just the basics of knowledge about bitcoin.

It would be good if vocabulary such as inflation, investing, money, how to save money, currency pegs, why currencies depreciate, how to hedge against inflation, financial education, financial independence and other policies in the economy are taught to students at an early age and Bitcoin is taken as a model for a decentralized project Open source.

It seems that it has been in the curriculum for a long time even though the teachings are still very basic. I've studied economics since junior high school and also high school, but as I said it's still a general study that is not specific about specific investments.

I mean, the norm is to get a job after graduation in the first place. It's not as if you can already start your investment career immediately out of graduation, as you're likely to not have much capital to invest yet.

As for blockchain technology in general — unless it's some sort of computer science class, I don't think it's worth the time to dig too much into blockchain.

The curriculum is the unit upon which education is based, and it shows that the government, particularly the education minister in Argentina, has been very open about the very important Bitcoin students. It is remarkable that making Bitcoin one of the mandatory curriculum would be an educational goal to be achieved. All in all:
-   It´s a joint educational venture involving the said NGO Bitcoin Argentina, Paxful and the Built With Bitcoin Foundation, with a timeframe set for 2022 and 2023.

-   Scope: Teachers, educational institutions, students (last years of secondary school).

The video link is, indeed, a 50+ minute recording of an online event where the project was formally presented. I’ve skimmed through most of the video, and taken the following extracts from the content:

-   The goal is to spread knowledge on the potential of decentralized technologies, with a certain focus on letting people become acquainted with these capabilities and determining their vocation to this industry.

-   To do so, they focus on introducing tools related to decentralized technologies.

-   The program includes some introductory lectures (finance, defi, Bitcoin, etc.), alongside practical workshops on blockchain (perhaps with closer attention to that applicable to each specific group and their environment).

-   Each group will have a mentor from the industry, that will help the group develop material to describe a use case (project) of their interest.

-   The projects are then shared between the schools.

-   The specific group projects start in August 2022, through to end of 2023.

-   They are not going to talk about investments, trading and stuff like that.

-   The projects themselves can be multidisciplinary, not solely focused on technology (i.e. economy, finances, etc. They can be investigation related, or practical, Bitcoin centered or not.

-   The idea is to reach out to schools throughout the country (meaning that likely not all those that want to participate will eventually be able to – i.e. if there is a concentration of demand in  certain region).


I think it’s a fine idea, with an individualized (per school) project based on the schools capabilities, interests, and perhaps surrounding industry.

The above, however, depicts enough to say that the core center is not bitcoin, but rather, any crypto/blockchain related project that the school is actually interested in working on. Each school will have their own custom project.

Education is the foundation of future, and in order to increase the penetration of bitcoin in economy, its very important to educate the young. So its a good start for Argentina and we will see that more schools will follow the suit. Interest in cryptocurrencies has grown in Argentina in recent years, crypto in Argentina are considered to be quite open and do not have any bans. OP has said that 40 high schools will put bitcoin in the curriculum, this is not a test but a mass adoption. I think the Argentine ministry of education has had discussions before and may have gotten the government's approval before they dared to adopt it widely.

Not just that there are also local colleges in places like the UK as well where people are being taught about bitcoins, it's an old news and definitely bitcoins is doing well for the aspirants, even there is news about China developing courses for Blockchain specialization which would eventually help them get higher jobs in the future. I do think monetary education, in general, is important, and investing comes along in that basket, but what is more important is what crypto can teach us on a technological and sociological level. We need to educate the new generations on it in order to have a better understanding and a better future for crypto be it BTC or something else and to avoid the pitfalls of monetary knowledge of the old.

I agree with you, not only about the crypto knowledge but the financial education. It's crazy that at school they teach you things that we know no one is gonna ever use in their lives unless they choose a very specific path, but something very important like money management is completely ignored.

This news is a positive development in all ramifications. Yes students need to be exposed to financial education, savings and investment, but introducing them to Bitcoin gives them alternative investment opportunities. I am a classroom teacher, I will tell you specifically that 99% of my students know nothing about Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. Regardless of the financial education you give to them, Bitcoin will never be an investment option for them because they are ignorant of its existence. Bitcoin Argentina, Paxful and Built With Bitcoin Foundation  is giving these students and teachers an uncommon opportunity to see the future and take advantage of the opportunities the future offer. It's interesting to see this sort of education taking place, but I think the people of Argentina have many other problems that need resolving before stepping to this conclusion. They should really be teaching about the wider blockchain technology in general as that is the underlying and useful architecture to the whole system - a transparent decentralized ledger. I'm not sure how much depth they'll really be going into with this project and it might just be a cursory overview, as there are many financial instruments out there which do not get nearly enough coverage in early education and could be just as useful to learn about as Bitcoin.

But to think about it, a country struggling with inflation wouldn't or rather shouldn't think about accepting an alternative currency, i don't think or see how that can help their situation at all. Exactly my thoughts. Too many people don't understand why Bitcoin works in practice and why traditional currencies are outdated. Any courses on Bitcoin needs to include information on various economic theories. Laissez-faire economics/capitalism and supply and demand would be foundational.

Most educational institutions unironically explore Marxism more than they do anything related to free markets. Granted they don't apply to high schools as much, but it's better to highlight cryptocurrency and capitalism at an early age instead of communist indoctrination.

True, however we need to wonder why this is not the case already? If people are going to have to work for most of their life to earn money, then why something like this is not already part of the subjects they have to study?

And at least to me the only conclusion I can reach is that this is by design, in an economic model based on debt and endless consumption then people need to remain ignorant about how to use their money in more effective ways, otherwise we may see a sharp decrease in the consumption of useless products and a lot of people retiring early, which will be good for them but not for the economy.

I know Bitcoin legalization won't completely get Argentina out of inflation, I mean we all know bitcoin has helped a lot of people with steady income jobs and even made a lot of people rich. If the Argentine government legalizes bitcoin, it will contribute to raising awareness among the people and they will be more open to finding jobs related to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Since then people's income will be better and once people's life is better, inflation will be reduced somewhat.
