New User Guide: How I go post photos for the forum?
Powered by TalkImg

Firstly, I go like welcome una to Bitcointalk forum. For dis place una go see different beta community wey go help una learn very plenty things for the world of Bitcoin. If they come to introduce a new service wey concerns Bitcoin, we go throughly appreciate am; all of us like new, reliable services, cos na dis be the only way wey Bitcoin go  continue to grow.

But whether bi a Bitcoin enthusiast or a service promoter, the thing wey you suppose learn before you go start to dey enjoy this forum na: how you go fit post a photo for the forum.
I create dis guide, and I dey hope say e go dey useful for una, the new user.

How do photos dey work on the forum?  .:
BitcoinTalk no get any system wey u go fit use upload photos, and e no dey directly store photos. So therefore, for u to fit store or keep photos for the forum, na an external image hosting service you go use. Make i add another thing for una, when it comes to photos, the forum get some certain rules (does and don't), wey dey very necessary for you to follow:
  • e dey only accept photos through the ways: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF
  • and make the space no pass 2.5MB

Dem suppose mention say na image proxy the forum dey use, to make sure say all the photos wey the forum users go watch go pass through dis proxy. Bcos e dey make sure say e protect the identities of people wey they use dis external hosting services. Dis fact na him cause some image hosting services to block dis proxy na bcos of too much requests. So therefore, e dey very very important to pick an image hosting service wey no dey create dis kind barrier, such as TalkImg.

When I go fit post a photo?  .:
And dem get another necessary rule for the forum: your rank must don reach Junior member before you go fit post photos.

What I dey try talk bi say, even if you post a link to a photo in the forum, e no go dey visible to other people until e reach dat level. I no go go deep for dis guide on how to level up, but you fit consult the following topics so dat you go fit get more information:
FAQ: Everything you suppose know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit
Merit & new rank requirements

You fit reach Junior level within 6-7 weeks, but e depends on your activity/ the people wey dey participate for the forum. But, if you no wan take so much time (for example, if your goal na to promote a service), you fit obtain a Copper subscription. And you go pay fee once, after dat dem go lift dis restrictions. Please make una know say e no dey compulsory! You only need to do is if you wan speed up the possibility of adding photos. But most people dey prefer to wait until dem go fit add the photos.

 How I go fit add a photo to a topic/post?  .:
As I talk earlier, BitcoinTalk no get a button where you go fit upload photos, neither is it enough to simply drag and drop the photo in the topic/post creation area. The posts wey dey for the forum na  based on written text and BBCode code (you fit learn more about that here).

E mean say you go write in the text of your post a code and the link to the image wey the image hosting service provide. You suppose write the [img] tag and inside dat tag make you put the image link. Look the example wey dey here:

How dem dey write am: [img]https://www.talkimg.com/images/2026/05/09/UJfwVG.png[/img]
As seen:

How does image hosting systems dey work?  .:
Basically, the thing wey you need na link a photo. However, for the one wey you go use for forum, dem suggest dat make una use an image hosting service rather than copying links directly from another websites. If you say you go dey copy links from another websites you fit go against some the site's rules, and the website fit block the image easily when dem show on the forum.

So therefore, dem get services wey dey allow person to upload photos and receive a link, wey dem go fit use here on the forum. Most of dis  types of services dey similar in terms of work, and all of dem dey very easy to use. Make you follow dis steps if you go use TalkImg (na free e bi):

1. Go to www.talkimg.com and press "Start Upload" or make you just drag the photo onto the page.

2. After you don select the image, a confirmation page go appear; simply press "Upload" (remember say, e dey very very necessary make the image matches or follow rules wey dey mentioned above).

3. The upload go don complete, and when finished, a link/code go appear wey you go copy.

4. Paste the link/code for the post wey you dey write:

 Conclusion  .:
For una wey never know the forum well well, I know say all of these go dey  very confusing for u. But I believe  say e dey very easy and more practical than it appears at first sight. As you continue to dey familiar and understand the forum and participate, you go see say everything becomes almost easier.

I hope dis guide has help una to understand how forum photos dey work. Here are two more topics wey fit be useful when you dey post photos for  the forum:
Guideline on posting images (with size adjustments), hyperlinks
Guide: Best practices for using images on the forum/web

OP Note: Throughout this guide, I go suggest the TalkImg service for uploading photos, but the user is can free to choose the image hosting service wey dem prefer. The TalkImg service was created with the forum in mind; if you wan know more about it, make you visit the official thread.
