Since prices are down, I am going to spend some money for shopping. Not a lot, just what I can spend.
Now the question is, should I buy BTC (currently I don't have any BTC) or should I do DCA for ETH, SOL or DOT?
Now the reason I am asking this question is I have some of ETH, SOL and DOT, and I still consider that my ETH and DOT average prices are little bit higher, so DCAing would be nice option. But then, given that the I am little concerned what might happen to SOL and DOT in this phase of the market. Anyway, thanks.

You're asking on Bitcointalk, so it's obvious: buy Bitcoin. Store it in your own wallet, don't keep it on an exchange.

The better choice is buy Bitcoin with DCA strategy, why should DCA other coins? ETH, SOL, and DOT are centralized coins, I don't see any reason why we should trust centralized party when it's about cryptocurrency. Trusting a centralized party is similar like you trust a bank. I still consider $30K is still cheap for Bitcoin, though it may go lower in this year.

How is it possible that you don't have a single BTC satoshi - so those who click on faucets have more than you Wink

Joke aside, I would not pay too much attention to your choice of altcoins, despite the fact that many will say that in the long run most will eventually fail - you may be lucky with your choice. If you want to expand your portfolio even more, Bitcoin is always a good choice, especially when its price compared to the last ATH is more than 50% lower.

You have two options to your question. One of it is to accumulate in bitcoin as the price has dropped. You don't have bitcoin so buying it will give you an opportunity to join in the bitcoin holders and wait for profit. Etheruem is the second option. The price dropped from its ATH , you can buy to add to what you have but store in your personal wallet where you have control.

I agree with you.
Buy Bitcoins the DCA way. BTC has a more reliable guarantee than other crypto coins on the market. I'm afraid that if the OP chooses the wrong coin other than bitcoin, it will lead to huge losses. It has been proven since its appearance in 2009, BTC is able to provide benefits, when compared to other coins that tend to scam and fraud.

Thanks a lot for all the replies. I do have Nano wallet, so all my coins are with me :-)
And on the BTC, I am sure it is good price to enter now, however, the possibility of DCAing ETH and SOL is really attracting for me :-)
If not them, I am sure I could just grab some BTC. Anyway, thanks, I will see what I can do.

It's predictable that Bitcoin's performance increases every year even though there is a very bad downward graph but it only lasts not long. Don't hesitate anymore with Bitcoin because you can see for yourself what you've been through.

The current price of BTC dropped from 30k to 28k so I am expecting more drops to happen soon. You should target for a buy to be safe below 25k level. It is always better to buy bitcoin at low price because when it starts rising it will be going beyond what any other altcoin can even accumulate, which is already evident in the last few years charts.

You are free to accumulate any other coin you wish to. But performance wise, BTC is the winner in all cases. While trying to buy altcoins, you will end up drawing money that could have been used to buy BTC and given you a better profit in the long term.

These decisions you have to take on your own, but dont worry, it will shape how you decide in future when facing the bear market. What most users say here is also from their own experience.

Not to be rude — but if you're asking us (or need our confirmation) before you make your decision, you probably don't understand what you're planning on investing in yet. Obviously, the 'right' pick for you would be whatever of those cryptocurrencies you think would give you the most gains after a certain time span; also taking into consideration risk/reward odds.

Of course, you don't necessarily need to go all-in on one coin as well. You can just decide on a certain portfolio allocation.

Yeah, while I agree that it's not ideal to ask random people for financial advice; I think some people do that to strengthen what option(s) they tentatively have in mind.

For OP, I think your best bet now will be to buy BTC (and since you don't have any bit at all, make it mandatory). Your other options are not that bad, but I trust that BTC will give you a better ROI compared to them. Again, with BTC you're sure the investment won't find its way into thin air.

Investment is based on research. SOL, ETH, BTC, DOT might have future goals but it is still at your own risk. For ETH the gas fee alone is discouraging except for good capital investors. To be more frank the safest for now is bitcoin. Crypto investment is fun and profitable but when the bear market sets in it can be so frustrating except you have a very slick trading strategy on when to pull out from alt coin investment else Bitcoin is strictly the safest

When it comes to investment then it would really be having that risk and its not 100% safe for you to mind off yourself and even sticking with most established coins or top rankings then it wont really be no sure that

you could really make money with it on a short span of time but having some shopping on times of dips or the prices were too low and its the right time to accumulate then go ahead.
Decisions will vary on how someone would really be seeing these circumstances and wont really be regretting once the market starts to recover or make some u-turn.

Bitcoin will always be the top choice to buy. Since you've said that you already have those altcoins and you don't have bitcoin yet, that's the best thing that you can have for now.
Well, if you insist then cut it into 50/50 or 60/40, and then that would suffice your question and need to fulfill for your portfolio. But honestly, all of those are relying to bitcoin so have it first.

Bitcoin is certainly the best buy right now, so just stick to bitcoin. You will not lose anyway even if the price dips more because the price will eventually recover after some time, but DCA could be a very good move right now since none of us knows the bottom price for bitcoin. However, with those altcoins you mention, if you still have extra funds to buy, then do it. They are those established altcoins in the market so your money won't still end up in a waste.

Personally I would think that not having any bitcoin in your portfolio is a problem, some people do not like to buy bitcoin because they think their profits are not going to be as good as if they invest in altcoins, and while in some cases they may have a point the truth is that you need to always have some bitcoin in your portfolio.

So if I was you I will invest in bitcoin whatever capital I had available, and then once I had done this I would think about the possibility of using the DCA strategy to lower the price at which I bought those altcoins you are holding already.

Focus on bitcoin and you won't be disappointed with it. Seeing the market continue being in bearish, bitcoin buying through DCA is certainly the safest way to still end up not missing the opportunity and be profitable when bitcoin recovers, However, i am not saying that ETH, SOL and DOT will never be good for long term investments, but knowing that they are cheaper than bitcoin, then you can buy them and hold easily if you consider them that will bring future profits too.

Just to take the advantage of market downturns I think it would be better to buy Bitcoin in the DCA way, you can buy Bitcoin in a smaller amount than you can afford and hold it over a long period of time until there's a new ATH will come.  While we're in the correction, buying Bitcoin in a DCA way is the wise option and the safest way to purchase cryptocurrency.

I'd go for Bitcoin IMO.
Altcoins are very risky to invest in, you didn't know about their movement either it will have a pump or dump or just because of the Bitcoin movement they also swinging.

In fairness to the alts of his choice, they're good IMO but nothing beats buying more bitcoin.

They're not the typical altcoins that will rugpull an will have a pump and dump sequence. They're just going with the flow of the market of bitcoin so they're quite handy to buy with.

Still, talking of the best choice, bitcoin should be the best and economically option for you OP.

DCA can be the best choice for buying bitcoin, because by using the DCA strategy you can buy bitcoins with money you can afford on a regular basis and hold it for a long time or Long term until it reaches the latest ATH. Bitcoin is the best choice for implementing DCA or you can choose Ethereum, BNB and altcoins that are in the top 10 of CMC. The most important thing is to be consistent.
