Hey guys, I want to accept cryptocurrency payments at my website and I am choosing the most suitable payment processor. From my analysis it really came down to two companies BitPay and CoinGate.
Do any of you have any personal experience with either of them? Is there something that one should know before going into partnerships with any of these gateways?

These are the main things I can think of: - CoinGate accepts more cryptocurrencies (~80) compared to BitPay (~10). - BitPay is way more strict. Your customers might find themselves obliged to create an account with BitPay and verify their identity and for this reason, I wouldn't recommend using them. They don't offer anything that other competitors don't have.

It's Coinpayments an option? I'd go with the one that least intrusive for your customer's privacy.

Coinpayments is an old and great payment service to use: https://www.coinpayments.net/[LIST] Merchants Who Accepts ETH. There are lot of merchants but I think no KYC will be better because I am sure some of your potential customers don't want to create account on a payment platform and lose their information just to complete KYC.

Have you considered BTCPay Server? It's open-source and non-custodial. In contrast to the two service providers you mentioned, BTCPay Server doesn't have any middlemen fees. Besides the official website, you can also get yourself acquainted with this platform at BTCpay Server: A Real e-Commerce Game Changer?

Not BitPay. Never BitPay. BitPay is anti-privacy, anti-freedom, and anti-bitcoin. There are whole communities online dedicated to not using BitPay, such as https://debitpay.directory/anti-bitcoin/. I for one will flat out refuse to shop with any merchant or site which uses BitPay, and I'm not the only one - https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/kxhxv7/warning_bitpay_is_now_forcing_every_user_to_both/. If CoinGate is an option for you, then use them over BitPay absolutely. I would echo what Pmalek has said above though, that a self hosted BTCPay server is safer and cheaper for you and more private for you and your customers. The downside is that it does not offer instant fiat conversion built in, if that is something you are interested in, although there are solutions currently in development ( https://docs.btcpayserver.org/Transmuter/).

Take note of Coinpayments I receive an email before from them that they no longer serve in a few countries. If you want to check the list of ban countries check this https://www.coinpayments.net/help-restrictedThe only best option is BTCpay as suggested above you can manually add altcoin payments and no 3rd parties.

Those aren't the most likely countries to trade with (at least where I live). But I'm surprised to see New York on the list.

I had used Bitpay as a customer, not as a merchant. The experience was really bad and I never dare to use it again even if the site use Bitpay I ignore it. So I wouldn't vouch for Bitpay. They aren't user-friendly really and quite strict with a high fee. Better go with Coingate if no more options. Also, Coinpayments looks not great to me due to country restrictions. Better avoid centralized wallet if possible. That would be great if you can go with BTCPayserver.

I have prepared this list, please read it Bitcoin Payment Processors https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5259548.0If the option is exclusively between CoinGate and BitPay, I will go with CoinGate for the following reasons: - There are no problems with the customer: BitPay banned clients from some countries, which may reduce your profits.
- All CoinGate problems are related to verifying the identity of the store: If you pass KYC test, you will not face many future problems.
- Quick deposit and transfers to your bank account
- Support more cryptos
- An active support team
- Low Fees

I wouldn't suggest using any of the options you mentioned, especially when there are much better open source alternatives available out there. Best thing you can use as payment processor is BTCPay Server 1 if you want full control and bunch of options, or lightweight alternative called Cypherpunkpay 2. Both of them are open source, they don't charge any fees and there are no third parties involved. I would argue that Cypherpunkpay is easier and faster to set-up up and use. 1) https://btcpayserver.org/ 2) https://cypherpunkpay.org/

As customer, i would avoid merchant which only use BitPay to accept cryptocurrency. There's exception when i really need service/goods offered by that merchant and can't be found elsewhere, but it never happened so far. Have you considered BTCPay Server? Besides the official website, you can also get yourself acquainted with this platform at BTCpay Server: A Real e-Commerce Game Changer? It's also worth mentioning there are 3rd party hosting for BTCPay[1]. It's alternative when you don't have ability to setup BTCPay by yourself and you're willing to trust them[2]. If I wanted them to know my real name, I'd use my creditcard.

I will choose CoinGate because it provides features that are not found in BitPay. In general, the choice depends on many factors, so BTCpayServer may be an ideal choice for some, while CoinGate is an ideal choice for others. Strengths that can be exploited in CoinGate like track and manage finances, User-friendly and support team. - Ability to issue refunds - if your clients underpay or overpay order, we refund the payment back to the customer
Can you talk about this feature? How are disputes resolved? I used to think that there are no refunds when you pay with cryptocurrency.

Simply avoid BitPay at any cost. It's worst possible option, both for seller and customer. If Coingate and BitPay is only options for you, choose Coingate without thinking much. But if you're looking for more options, check Coinpayments or decentralised BTCPayServer. As customer, i would avoid merchant which only use BitPay to accept cryptocurrency. There's exception when i really need service/goods offered by that merchant and can't be found elsewhere, but it never happened so far. I'm doing same thing for few years already. And I don't know what should happen that I would be forced to use BitPay. Those aren't the most likely countries to trade with (at least where I live). But I'm surprised to see New York on the list.
Yeah, most of these countries isn't most likely to trade with. I suppose that only Russia is added there not so long time ago and it it's quite big market.

I can see that many users have already suggested coinpayments.
Coinpayments will charge you just 0.5%, compared to 1% by CoinGate(I am not even considering BitPay in this comparison, steer away from them. Their payment solution couldn't be worse). Coinpayments webhook and API are robust, I remember using it on a website with 100+ concurrent users without facing any downtime or any kind of disruption from their side. If you are going to implement a withdrawal option too, then follow their mass withdrawal method. or else your customers will be paying huge fees on each BTC withdrawal.
coinpayments is a perfect site for accepting crypto payments imo
