I know from personal experience never to trust a gambler with your money,I mean a bad gambler, addicted one, personally I take care of anyone other money just like I do about my money.I came here at work several years ago and the nephew of my boss was my office colleague,I heard stories of how he borrowed money from other employees because of his gambling addiction and everyone instructed me to not lend him money.

One day I had to go and buy a MFP device so he was the driver,I got to the shop and bought it but when I got back I didn't see him in the car, called him and told him where he was,he told me come down here to this casino.I got there and he told me do you have any money,I had a lot of money but decided to test him and told him I only have 10 dollars with me and I gave him this 10 dollars,he immediately lost it in roulette within less than 5 seconds and asked for more money,I told him I have not but there I learned that you cannot trust money to such type of gamblers.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Trusting a gambler with my money? I won't try that,it is a big risk because all your money is going to be waisted on gamble and he will come back giving you excuses. The moment one is addicted to gambling, there is every tendency that he wont have no money again, because every single dime he has will be for gambling. This is really a very bad situation and at that stage of addiction, there is nothing you can do to help yourself.
So giving a gambler money is a big risk that one ought not to try.

It is risky to trust gambler with the money we have for them to manage, it is very likely that gambler use our money for gambling capital.
Unless we can confirm that the gambler is a responsible gambler, I don't mind handing over my money to him. Because responsible gamblers
have a commitment that they only gamble with the extra money they have. So a responsible gambler can be professional if entrusted with holding
someone else's money. For example I also always gamble regularly every week and I feel I am a responsible gambler. Even though I am a gambler
I never use my daily necessities or my savings to gamble, moreover I use other people's money to gamble I never do it. But if it is proven that
the gambler is addicted, then definitely do not entrust our money to the addicted gambler. Because for responsible gamblers, they know the limits of
gambling, so responsible gamblers will not get addicted.

True life Story.
A friend i know recently narrated to me how his business almost collapsed due to trust he had for another of his friends who he thought he was helping by recruiting him to manage one of his Retail outlets. He narrated how having put him in charge of that point started observing a decrease in the the profit from there intended for savings and reinvestment. He confronted him severally to know what the problem was, but his friend attributed it to being ill and needing drugs, until one faithful day when he ran into him in a betting shop during working hours betting on virtual football games, how disappointing!

Questions for discussion
- Are gamblers eligible to hold financial positions?
- Do problem gamblers deserve a second chance to hold a financial position?

In my opinion, these are naive questions, because no matter who your partner is (I mean a business partner), you need to do business in such a way that there is control and there is no way to deceive. Business is not a place where you can trust anyone and it does not depend on whether a person is a gambler or not, whether he drinks or not, etc.

It depends on the addiction if the personnel is a compulsive gambler and I'm his superior I don't think I can trust him with a position that involves money, he is ok with positions that are not finance-related and where he can exercise his skills and professions, and on your second question, as long as he is not cured he doesn't deserve a chance not because I don't trust him but because he needs to cure his addiction that will ruin my business and his life as well.

1. Depends, some gamblers knows how to hold financial position but mostly gamblers aren't capable of it. I knew a lot of people who are a regular gambler. No matter how huge or decent his income is, he always ends up with debt a day before the payday.

2. No, once would be enough. Gambling addiction just don't vanish magically right away. Especially for that situation, that person would always find a way to gamble your money.

Questions for discussion
- Are gamblers eligible to hold financial positions?
- Will it be wrong to trust a problem gamblers with money?

Gambler will always be a gambler, if there’s a greed and other opportunity then most probably they will grab it. Gambler can still be trusted as long as you make them liable and trusting your friend is a big thing, its not easy but its possible.

Gambler should be more responsible especially on handling others money, if you don’t trust them then why give money to them in the first place? You should know the possible risk of this.
We believe in gambling. In fact, their minds are much better.  People become unfaithful to people only when the latter is completely destitute. I was with the gamblers borrowing money from their council and I never got neglected by them. But those of you who are away from gambling will stay away. This is actually a very risky matter.

I won't deny them the position as long as they are fit for the job.  I don't think that being a gambler is a ground for denying them of holding a financial position.  As long as they are not sick and isn't compulsive gambler.  Being a gambler and being a compulsive gambler is two different things.

- Do problem gamblers deserve a second chance to hold a financial position?

This is quite a difficult question, but I won't let them hold any financial position again if they are caught stealing even if they are not gamblers or cured of gambling addiction.

I think it’s really a bad idea leaving a gambler with money, I can say their are some responsible gambler which won’t gamble with their may money, they gamble with extral fund they are having, why their are some gamblers that are addicted to gambling, those once can do anything to make money that they will use to gamble, they can even still just to gamble, you are even lucky only your profit is reducing he didn’t touch the main capital. My advise is not to trust any gambler, don’t put them in financial position because you won’t really know the one that is addicted to gambling.

That's right, we should never entrust money to gamblers, because there is a possibility that our money can be used for gambling. Not everyone is like that, we all agree. But, personally, even though he is family, if he is a gambler, I will be less sure to entrust my money to him. Unless he really intends to borrow money, as long as that person has responsibility, it doesn't matter even if he is a gambler.

We all know how gamblers handle their own funds. They could risk even their assets just to pursue gambling especially if they haven't reached their target goal. What more if they will handle the funds that aren't theirs? There's still a possibility that they will also touch and spend it because of their urge to gamble. I'm not saying that all gamblers aren't trustworthy but some gamblers could have money issues especially those who are really hooked on gambling.

Every person who involves gambling are need to be trusted but you need to be careful because we all know that once a gambler  it's hard to say that you will be trusted enough for my money if I gave it to you because when you are a gambler you can not control your self to avoid or fight your greediness cause once its happen greed will control your self then you will tempt to use your money when if that money is not yours so for me its better to be careful than you loss everything.

It's a no for me because based on my experience, gamblers are closer to temptations when it comes to handling funds that they don't own. My father has entrusted his small business to his brother who was a gambling addict before but our small business fell into bankruptcy because my uncle used our business earnings for gambling. If there are other people that we can entrust our funds with, it should not be to a gambler.

I highly disagree, being a gambler does not mean he will risk everything.  I think most of us are mistaking something here.  Let me remind us that gambler is very different from compulsive gambler.  if a person has no gambling disorder, I believe he is in a sane mind to forbid himself from stealing or creating things that will cause him a problem.  Now if we are to follow your understanding about gamblers then almost all of us here are doing that bad thing?  I don't think that is true.

Kindly see the difference:

Gambler definition

Compulsive Gambler definition
Quote
Compulsive gamblers have lost control over their gambling. For them, gambling is the most important thing in their lives. Compulsive gambling is a progressive addiction that harms every aspect of the gambler's life. As they continue to gamble, their families, friends and employers are negatively affected. In addition, compulsive gamblers may engage in activities such as stealing, lying or embezzling which go against their moral standards. Compulsive gamblers cannot stop gambling, no matter how much they want to or how hard they try.

- Are gamblers eligible to hold financial positions?
Depends, but mostly no. If the gambler is able to maintain his financial situation as well as control his gambling activity and profession. Also, I can only trust my gambler with my limited funds depending on there financial situation.
- Do problem gamblers deserve a second chance to hold a financial position?
On this case, I would probably say no as well as it'll be harder to trust them if they previously had an issue or problem with their gambling activities.

Completely depends on his stats and reputation with the money. I used to finance a couple of poker players to play in the tourneys that they couldnt afford otherwise and have given money to a friend for gambling. I'd consider both as gambling but I do get something in return if they win. So, basically I'm gambling on gamblers.
I've known a friend who does this. Asks for money from what he calls "investors" that will finance his poker journey with that starting amount who are willing to give him money.
I think this is totally a gamble on your side that you let them gamble with your money but the thing is, you're aware of the possible outcome whether it will be positive or negative. For me, I won't be trusting a person with my money if the same as the example of OP.
Like I mentioned earlier, reputation and statistics on how a person has done in the past while gambling is key. If the person lacks discipline and is a problem gambler. I'm definitely not trusting them with my hard earned money. If he was my business partner, I'd definitely not want them to lie to me about the financial decisions they are making using company funds(in case of OP). Transparency is key when it comes to money and investments.

Gambling is an addiction just like the other common ones like alcoholism. It can be cured if taken proper care of. I don't mind trusting an ex gambling addict with my money, provided they are transparent on the decisions they are making with my money.
Right, everything must be transparent and the standard that you have will still be there before you agree that you'll allow them to borrow your money for them to gamble.
That's fair on your side and once those people whom you trusted started to make a lie to you, well, that's a goodbye to them and it will never happen again.

Questions for discussion
- Are gamblers eligible to hold financial positions?

There are conditions for a gambler to be eligible to hold a financial position and two of the very important things are honesty and self-respect.  If a gambler is honest and have absolute self-respect, I don't mind entrusting him all my fortunes.  So yes gamblers who are honest and have self-respect will always be eligible to hold financial positions.

- Do problem gamblers deserve a second chance to hold a financial position?

Definitely not.  Problem gamblers have a high possibility of embezzling funds.  I don't want to get a rock just to hit my head.

  • Of course, but if he really manages to recover from his addiction and uncontrollable behavior towards gambling.
  • I think he deserves it, but make sure he really gets out of his way. At least you should know that he has passed the first point.

It is very unethical to judge a gambler who is fully aware of his bad habits and starts changing his habits for good without being touched by gambling again. This is highly discouraged, but you just have to worry if he doesn't really change which means he pretends to change just to gain your trust again while he's still doing it behind your back. Sinners are those who make mistakes, but when they repent then God will forgive them. Then why not with you?

your opinion is very true. because bad habits will involve the surrounding environment. if it's possible that the trusted person hasn't done anything wrong by now. it could happen in the future.
it would be better if we avoid the obvious risks that might happen to our business. even though it was a person we knew well back then. and it turns out we don't know his personality very well.

gambling is not psychological disorder because it is a competition that earns money which whenever it happens money involved so I would like to say that addiction of alcohol will contribute to psychological disorder why addition in Ros can also contribute for psychological disorder because the function is limited like function of gambling gambling is just to a process of getting money from another person due to arguments and prove so I don't think that it can cause disorder but it will make you to lose whatever thing you have if you are totally addicted to it.
