Yeah, this time around will be worse than when btc mining went to asic only, actually this eth merger will be the pinnacle of the worst so far in gpu crypo mining. GPU's will crash so hard, even nvidia is scared about it hehe and already said it will delay the 4xxx series.

Nvidia will probably delay 4xxx series, but not only that, the company will reduce some prices os the current generation

It's a huge discount on 3090ti, and I believe the prices on stores could be even less due to demand and supply

Now miners are selling cards and buyers are enjoying good prices, there are a lot of used cards with less than 1 year of use with 50% price of MSRP here in my country

Nvidia is probably delaying the sale of the 4090 video card because many 3090 and 3090ti video cards are not yet sold out and are in store stock. For other video cards, the price does not change, because they are in great demand among miners and gamers.
