^  I guess so...  And there's a kind of prestige for being a Punk holder.  Not really sure why many people hate the pixel art of Punks as I think it's one of the best looking ones out there imho, if not the best.  A lot of other NFT projects made a conscious decision to be a Punk derivative because it's valuable for them to do so.  At least at the start when it starts trading.

As for NFTs making a comeback...  Dunno about that but I do hold some for airdrop farming purposes.    Hope it pays off as some of them aren't exactly cheap.

True about the prestige part... way more than the Bored Apes Yacht Club -- what a disaster. To be honest, when I first saw CryptoPunks I was like "damn these look like shit"  but then I started learning about how they were made, the significance of what they did, and came to the realization that the art of NFTs doesn't really matter -- just the provenance, and it many cases, the surrounding hype.

I think most people cringe when they hear the term "NFT". I'm up for a rebranding to the term "blockchain collectibles."

CCSATOSHI Sells for 0.1 BTC



While not exactly a historical NFT per se, CCSATOSHI is of a historic nature as its the first instance of .png image data being directly embedded into a token description, predating Ordinals and Bitcoin Stamps by over a year. The Counterparty token is limited to a supply of 14, making it extremely hard to get. The next cheapest CCSATOSHI to be found in a Dispenser is priced at a whopping 0.21 BTC.



The image itself is thumbnail-sized and part of the Faux SoGs collection, a tribute to Spells of Genesis, the original blockchain-based trading card series.

With Punks, first is first and it matters...  A lot.

But as for the art looking like sht, I think it looked good the first time I saw them.  Something I'd like to wear as my pfp if they weren't so damn expensive.  It was the Apes that didn't make sense to me and why they were so pricey.  But yeah, I guess the art doesn't really matter that much just like how some of these projects are still worth so high in market cap and they don't do sht.

Pumping nearly equally with CryptoPunks is Mooncats, another PFP collection (capped at a supply of 25,600) whose contract deployed 2 months after that of the punks.



Mooncats are cool because their trait combinations are generated on-chain and their images are generated dynamically, unlike punks or almost any other NFT collection.

The majority of Mooncats were created in 2021... I'm not sure you can call those "historical," but they do come from the same contract as the ones created in 2017. Here's a breakdown of the numbers:

Bitgirls Counterparty Collection on the Move

One of the lesser-known but still significant Counterparty collections saw 6 sales within the last few days, sandwiched between dispenses of Rare Pepes, Spells of Genesis and XCP. Launched in 2016, the BitGirls token series consists of trading card-style images of Japanese game show participants. Per NFT History,

BitGirls was a Japanese TV show and blockchain based project on Counterparty, that allowed viewers to support girls by purchasing their tokenized cards. Viewers were also able to vote for their favorite BitGirl based on their performance during a show. BitGirls was very innovative for its time and offers some of the first examples of NFTs of real people, NFTs of photography, NFTs associated with a TV show, NFTs involved in a voting system, and NFTs of only women.

Two People Collect Full Spells of Genesis Sets

This is a feat that had only been accomplished one time before. Spells of Genesis is universally regarded as the 1st digital trading card collection on any blockchain. In addition, it was one of the first attempts at blockchain-based gameplay, where certain cards increased a player's performance in-game. Truly an innovative project & a cornerstone of the Historical NFT movement.

There are 287 cards in total, but only 37 full sets can ever be created. The cards were launched on the Counterparty platform, with the most iconic ones (FDCARD, SATOSHICARD, DOGECOINCARD) released in 2015 & 2016. Spells of Genesis continues to operate as a game today, although it will take you a lot of time and cost a pretty penny to cobble together a full set of your own.

Historical Dogeparty Assets on the Move

Its not every day I can use a headline like that one, as things have been pretty quiet in the Dogeparty-sphere for quite some time; arguably since Doginals sucked all the attention in the Dogecoin NFTs room, which isn't very big.

But. In the last 72 hours we've seen the following Dogeparty HNFT sales take place, which suggests things may be once again picking up:

JOLLYROGER, MILKYWAY & COUCHDOGE (Rare Doge S1E1) - 8200 DOGE (multidispenser) (JR & MW are 2 of the 1st tokens to ever have images associated with them, making them predecessors to the modern-day NFT)

RUNNER - 900 DOGE x 2 (the flagship token of the 1st instance of tokens being used for any sort of gaming, Dogeparty Runner)

GOLDENSHIBE - 1600 DOGE (the most iconic Dogermint token & the first token from 2014 to have new artwork attached to it)

JOLLYROGER - 5250 DOGE

NISSANGTR - 330 DOGE (another Spiller token created around the same time as JOLLYROGER and MILKYWAY)

In addition, Daniel Spiller - creator of JOLLYROGER, MILKYWAY & a bunch of other early image tokens - is selling MILKYWAYs at a price of 1M FLOWCOIN. I myself happened to pick one up yesterday -- now I own almost every Spiller token, which are some of my favorite tokens to collect.
