That's a tough question, it could be right and it could be wrong, I think the person who told you understands more about the Altcoins he invests in, if I may know what kind of new coins he invests.

It's not as easy as it sounds, because new altcoins require a lot of things to be done and completed so that they can reach the target. and not a few of the new altcoins that have been lost in circulation. there may be some new altcoins that are able to reach high points and be successful in the exchange market, but it all goes through many processes and stages. so it is better to invest in old altcoins than new altcoins because old altcoins already have trust and investors thus have high volume in every exchange market.

It was possible in pre-2017 when ICO and other crowdfunding type event is still new and fresh to the community so they want to bring something new hence some of the projects back in that day had a blast and if you had an investment in early days, you could make quite decent amount when those coins enter the exchange from solely just investing on ICO. That thing was really hype.

But to be honest, today is just the same everyday. Every new projects just an exit-scam type bullshit with recycled ideas and only few projects could even survive until this day even though the price is horrible. It's difficult.

Everything else is a sure loss. This is the main thing that we should look upon when we do make out investment  specially when we are still a noob on which not all advices came from experienced ones would be totally that precise nor
relevant most of the time and some of them on which arent really that recommendable to do so but its always been suggestable that you should really know on how to make up decisions basing up on what  you had read up whether it would be worth on following it or would be tending to find another suggestions which do suits up your interest or something that convinces you on doing so.

I'm always worried about newbies who they lack knowledge and inexperience, sometimes they are easily influenced by influencers who promote

there are more new projects that end up as scams. But it's different for people who are experienced in the crypto world, at least they understand
how to choose potential projects and understand that investing in new projects is high risk, so they can minimize risk by investing using money

Investing in old projects is safer because it has been proven by the community and has had certain results, but the return it brings is really not as much as the new projects bring. As for investing in new projects, investing when the project is still on paper, if the project is successful, the profit is really great, but if that project is not successful, we will lose everything.

New projects don't have a steady reputation yet, people are still guessing about their credibility. Many scam projects came from the new ones. Depending on market conditions, if we are in a bear market condition like now, you should not try to invest your funds with new projects because it will cause a risk of loss, usually new projects will be less attractive to investors during a bear market, so don't think now is the right time for us to invest in new projects, it is better to invest with old projects because old projects have been proven to last under any conditions.
