Overtraining? I don't think it's a big issue though, I guess the real problem is the weight issue because boxers know if they are undertrained or overtrained. Anyway, it's already over, this rematch, we will see how Ancajas will make the right adjustments.

I would agree that there might be a weight issue in the first encounter that contributed to Ancajas' loss but let us also give credit to Martinez as he really performed very well that night that he captured that unexpected belt that he has now.

The weight really brought down his performance no doubt, and then the trainer might have push him a bit in the gym. Maybe they want to put a impressive performance.

For sure Ancajas already knew what adjustments to make on this rematch and I just hope that this time he will be more focused and forget momentarily that he lost to this guy once.

That could be added extra motivation for the former champion. He knows his mistakes inside the ring, and this is where he can really adjust and make the best out of the first fight experience. Drill Martinez and forget that he is the former champion. He should look to get it as if this is his first time. Anything that can really trigger Ancajas mentality.

I think we can all agreed by now that Ancajas has problem with the weight that's why he loses this fight. We are not though taking anything from Martinez, he do everything and box his way out of the decision here. But it's time to move on and Jerwin saw his mistakes already, beside the weight issue. He needs to be aggressive as well, just like what he did on his previous fight. Overtraining? no problem, it's the trainer job to make sure this time that we will just be in the peak condition entering the ring in fight night. No cramps, fully rehydrated and 100% going for the win.

He need this adjustment and he got enough time to achieve it, both his weight and his body conditioning should be coordinated when the time of the fight comes, no more excuses or anything but be a pro to face those past mistakes and try to do everything to reclaim your belt and be back in the winning side. Though there are fighters that really taking things seriously after losing a fight. But Jerwin is still young and if he will win this rematch, his future will be more fruitful.

I mean, in terms of more money making fight, if you have the belt then you will receive more good contracts.

Everything will be in his hands now. Winning this fight will surely flip him up and bring more hypes to his name.

You are right, everything is in his control or at least from his trainer and nutritionist and everyone involved in this fight, even MP to make sure that everything is in order before the fight so that we won't see any more of this issues.

But I'm wondering though, since the Shakur fight, what will happen if Ancajas can't make the weight again, will the fight go on and Martinez willing to sacrifice with some monetary incentives like Robson did (accepting $50,000, if I'm not mistaken)? Of course, this is different since Ancajas is no longer the champion, but it just makes me wonder this scenario.

You answered your own question, it's different because Ancajas is not a champion, and why would Martinez accept money? for what?

If Ancajas will not make the weight again, that means Martinez will remain as the champion, no sweat for him, but unfortunately they will not make money because no fight is gonna happen.

Martinez would be happy with that, he does not have to fight anymore and he will keep the belt for long. Well, I hope that will not happen as that will not make the fans happy, I mean, no one should be blamed but our expectation is to see an exciting fight, so you the disappointments.

Can't believe you didn't consider overtraining as a big issue? I don't know on what part it's just a small issue but once a boxer is struggling to catch their weight and it's only around less than a hour before the weigh-in, they are pressured to do so to the point that they will disregard those proper training just to reach the weight.

After weight-in, it's just a matter of fewer than 24 hours before the official fight. Do you really think a boxer can be in his shape with that period? Plus the fact that Ramirez is really strong and facing him should required a good conditioned body.

It's only a big issue if a boxer is not wise enough, I mean, it does not happen most of the time, that's just some of the few excuses for some boxers. They have trainers that are professionals, so why would they allow a boxer to over train? that's just like training to lose the fight, not good.

Less than 10 days before this fight but still, my favorite bookies have not put the betting odds yet on their site, will come back three days before the fight as that's the usual time they put odds on unpopular boxers.

Yes, I have noticed too that this fight is still not listed on most crypto sportsbooks. I don't know the basis but there are even unpopular boxers there that were already listed but this fight, even though this is a title fight, is still not listed yet.

You are correct there that usually, it's around 2-3 days before the fight as the usual timeframe for a fight like this to be listed on crypto bookies.

No choice but to wait then. Just for fun, what's your preview about the odds? For me, Martinez is at 1.8 while Ancajas is at 2.5.

Don't worry about the odds, for sure odds will be available days from now. Let us not be mislead by the available odds that would appear if we search in google because it's the old odds, and it was Ancajas who are the heavy favorites, this time for sure would not be the same.

What we will see currently on fiat bookies should be the same on the crypto-bookies once it is released.

What old odds? If we refer to the first match, then it's really Ancajas is the Favorite but if I'm not mistaken on this rematch, Martinez is now the favorite.

Their first match is a dominant win by Martinez. That's the reason he will be the Favorite in this rematch.

1st Fight result was UD.  Making them wanna see another fight. I look at the records although Martinez could be the fav, Ankajas is the most experience between them is a reason to see what could be the result for the 2nd time around.

These are champs, its a wonder these crypto bookies are yet not listing the odds when its just a week ahead for this fight to materialize.  Could be because they are not really popular enough.

Hey, that was a serious issue. That's the problem, Ancajas know that he is doing everything but still having difficulty catching the required weight in due time. He ended up overtrained as mentioned by his camp, because of that. Martinez is not an easy opponent that's why Ancajas struggle and just becomes a practice session for Martinez.

Honestly, even Ancajas is in a good shape in their first match, Martinez is really tough and I can't say if he will be the winner in the end. Here in this rematch, I like to see the 100% conditioned Ancajas so that no reasons at all to look at after we see the result.

Odds will be there three or two days before the fight, usual for fights between not-so-popular boxers and they are fighting for the 115lbs division which is not so popular to most of American fight fans (just my observation).

This is getting exciting and personally, I would be betting for Ancajas to win by decision as he will be fighting smart in this rematch. Like i said before that he should forget that Martinez once has his numbers and just focused on their game plan and bring glory to the Philippines once again. Overtraining and weight issues are things in the past so I hope there will be no alibis this time around.

Still a week to go before the fight, and we as boxing fans are really excited that finally we are almost here. Yes, we can wait for the odds to come, for sure they will, bookies are smart and will definitely add this to their list. We just have to be patience just like the rest of the fights wherein odds are release like 1-2 days before the fight itself.

If Ancajas lost, then there should be no excuses on his camp. This is already the rematch and should have made the adjustments regarding the weight and overtraining issues.

Aside from the fight itself, I am excited to see the odds between these two boxer.  I hope they will give Ancajas a much lower odds of winning  Grin.  As a supporter of Ancajas I would also love to have a bigger amount of winnings if ever Ancajas win the fight.

If Ancajas lost, then there should be no excuses on his camp. This is already the rematch and should have made the adjustments regarding the weight and overtraining issues.

Yeah if ever Ancajas lost, we as a supporter should take it as it is =>  Martinez is truelly a better fighter and the first match isn't a fluke, or isn't because Ancajas is not 100% conditioned. And of course a full respect to the champion.

no odds yet are out for this fight. considering that this is just only a week before the fight. maybe, bookies are not seeing this fight with high demand in the betting market. but im certain, ancajas will be the underdog if they list it couple of days before the fight night. bettors will place their last minute betting once bookies open their lines to this match.

You answered your own question, it's different because Ancajas is not a champion, and why would Martinez accept money? for what?

Well I don't know if you are aware that there are now clauses included in the contract or this could have been practice many years ago that if the other side didn't make the weight they he has to pay the other party, either it can come from his purse or he would have to shell out money personally. This is to protect that both parties are going to make the contractual weight. Just like with the Robson vs Shakur fight, Shakur went over the limit and so it was agreed that they will have to subtract $50k from his purse as penalty for not making the weight.

Yeah, but as a boxer, they should fight and I'm not aware of a fighter that doesn't want to fight his opponent and wanted to keep his belt because of the other side not making the weight intentional or not intentional.

Again, we can go back to Robson Conceicao vs Shakur Stevenson.

Robson could have accept the prize money easy because Shakur is like 1.6 lbs overweight. But him and his team decided to go and continue with the fight and lost.

It's not all about the money all the time, Conceicao also believes that he could beat Shakur, and it's more fulfilling if a boxer wins not winning only because of technical disqualification, he tried and lost, that's okay. Hopefully boxers will have that kind of mentality, they have to fight to win.

Yeah, there's nothing yet. Even the fight will be happening more than a week from now. It will be available before the fight or during the fight day. I will personally take Ancajas whatever the bookies will give him. I am still confident with his surviving skills, he just need to throw more solid converted punches and not to let Martinez dominate once again.

If Ancajas lost, then there should be no excuses on his camp. This is already the rematch and should have made the adjustments regarding the weight and overtraining issues.

He just need to accept that fate if ever he won't win again but for now focusing with what winning strategy he should use is indeed needed to reclaim his title, there're no excuses anymore, and he needs to overcome that first lost and make sure that he's prepare on this one. He needs to work with his offensive strategy to convert and execute good throws of punches.

Better to take his luck with countering and trying to break Martinez' defense to force him to engage with open exchanges of punches.
