This looks like a plain semantics issue. Therefore, petty. Therefore, a non-issue. I don't think Satoshi claimed that he/she/they made everything from scratch. He/she/they actually acknowledged people and their works that led to the creation of Bitcoin. He/she/they created Bitcoin out of materials and resources that were already there. And Satoshi didn't miss pointing that out. It's probably the very reason why Satoshi used we instead of I in the whitepaper.

Is this how decentralization is to be understood? I don't think so. I guess decentralization is not about whether a system is invented by a single person or not. It is immaterial whether Bitcoin is created by a single man or woman or a pair or a group. What is important is that the blockchain is not under the control of a single person or a handful of individuals. Ripple was also not founded by a single person. That fact doesn't make Ripple decentralized.

It is nothing like that. Kroc stole McDonald's idea and franchised it without really changing anything about it.
Satoshi invented a new payment system by using existing technologies and experience from other failed projects.
Saying these two are the same is like saying the inventor of the first car stole the idea from the inventor of the wheel!

Number of people who participated in this invention before release is not what makes it decentralized. Otherwise centralized shitcoins with multiple developers would also be decentralized.

just because a burger existed prior to 'mcdonalds' does not mean the mcdonalds brand has no creativity when it first came out

the first goat that got randy with a female buffalo to breed off the first cow, does not mean that 'man' did not invent the burger(from cows). it does not mean because burgers come from cows that the cow made the first burger

bitcoin was created. many things had to be pieced together in a unique formation never seen before. thus it was created and invented and not by those names over the 40 years. bitcoin was put together(created and invented) by satoshi

if people think that bitcoin is actually not created/invented in 2008-9 and instead is just something that existed for 40 years. then you must think that a pizza is just wheat or a tomato or cheese. and not something different than those separate ingredients that went into making it

wheat has been around for millions of years
domesticated chickens(eggs) for 10 thousand years
tomatos 50 millions of years

but pizza .. not that long in comparison, and not just found under a rock naturally.

bitcoin was not "found" no company was set up with co-founders.. bitcoin didnt pre-exist for upto 40 years and just waiting for someone to spot it. it was created and invented by one person that seen lots of ingredients and mixed it all together into a unique recipe no one else thought of

Precisely.
There was no technology quite like bitcoin before it was created, neither has there been any like it, after it was launched.

Previous innovative steps are all available for the present generation to utilize and create something unique from; There is no guarantee that their inventions would be good or accepted, but that is how advancements happen and they are unique.
Bitcoin has been one of the biggest advancements in the payment system of the past decade or two.

Evolution is something that gets derived from existing things. So it's quite normal to say that Satoshi would have used existing technologies to create bitcoin.
Even today, websites are being built on existing technologies and we all still use them at our convenience.
It's the effort of putting in the extensive research and hard work to build a finished product out of the raw material.
Satoshi has pretty much done the same thing to create bitcoin.
