All the altcoins have the same lifecycle - create hype, pump the coin, fail to deliver on promises, coin falls to obscurity. People don't notice this an believe in "good projects" because they like to have hope of making quick x10 gains on "the next big thing". Altcoin market is just a casino with very bad odds, but just like with real casinos, people tend to focus on the rare stories of big wins and ignore the reality of frequent losses.

It can be explained much smoother with a single phrase that we have been using for the lifetime of altcoins: "its a pump and dump". People buy it, the people behind pump it higher, create more hype and then dump it at the top and run off with the money, probably to buy actual Bitcoins.

People need to understand while 100x or 500x coins do exist, they will never be able to buy them at the prices that they wish they could buy them. Otherwise the entire profit scheme just buckles and there is nothing left for the people behind the scamcoin to steal.

You can 100x easily by investing in the right project at the right time. Just make sure its a project which is actually trying to build something.

But are these people wondering if the cryptocurrencies they see as diversification will still be in their top 10 spots in, say, 3 years?

After a lot of experience in the market and how i have lost money on plenty diversification, some of the things that I have learnt are;

- Diversification can be good and can also be bad. If you choose to diversify your cryptocurrency investment before you can accommodate it, your money may be swallowed up or reduced in the process of being invested in speculated cryptocurrencies that they told you will last the test of time.

-You can diversify in crypto for the short-term, but for long-term investments in cryptocurrency, bitcoin should be your number one choice always.

- If you must diversify your investment, don't over do it. Pick one or two other coins in addition to BTC and be content. Buying over 10 cryptocurrency may do you no good.

I believe some of us get these ideas twisted, Investment should always be for the long term and Bitcoin is the best case in this and a few Alts can be looked at as well but some think because long-term investment is always being argued then they can put money in just any Alts for that amount of time. Nothing wrong with diversifying but most Alts are good for short-term trading.

This is one of the many reasons why I trusted Bitcoin and the risk is very low if you put your money into Bitcoin compared to other altcoins.
Altcoins seem to be only hype over time, this infographic shows how Bitcoin is being the number since day 1.
There are a lot of altcoins that tried to beat Bitcoin to be the highest market cap but failed. I am surprised why XRP is on the top since before I believe Ethereum must be the second after Bitcoin.

Bitcoin still remain the king among other cryptocurrencies, because during the pandemic that made many altcoins price to dropped down for their investors to experience some challenges at the moment, but it was causing Bitcoin price massive pumping for their investors to experience positive incomes from their investment at the moment. I think, Ethereum will still remain second position and Bitcoin will continue to remain first position through out this bearish season to attract more people to invest on Bitcoin so that they will be part of people that will earn well in the future. I will still make Bitcoin as my first choice and Ethereum the second in this season of bearish.

I learned about cryptocurrency 6 ago, since then I have always see Bitcoin rated the top 1 cryptocurrency, some times I wish I got to know about it when it was yet $1k. Today Bitcoin price got to $24k and according to a Crypto analyst who said that if Bitcoin crossed $30k, it means that the bull market is about to start, I just hope it does.

Many of us already wished to bought the Bitcoins when the price was low. Still we can’t do what happened in past.
Bitcoins are always a great crypto, i mean it’s considered as the master of Cryptos, so yes it’s better to buy the Bitcoins whenever possible.
Currently Bitcoins are a great price to include in your wallet, so if possible convert all your other coins to Bitcoins and wait for a month. Bitcoins will surely give you 3x profits.

It has been more than a decade since bitcoin expanded the currency into the digital space of the internet. And since then, bitcoin remains the most popular cryptocurrency in the world and continues to be king.
As this is a blazing crypto footprint, mainstream acceptance will always put it ahead of other cryptos, although in the years to come there may be a shift but in the end bitcoin remains king.

People should rather forget about profitability.... and rather focus on increasing Bitcoin's adoption. Higher adoption will make it even more dominant in the market and it will sustain a increase in it's price. 

We cannot have a Bitcoin with "extreme" volatility that are dominating the market, because it is not good for Bitcoin as a stable currency. Yes, it is the market leader, but it has a significant "user" base that needs to grow to enable it to stay there.

This really means little. BTC had a significant head start compared to other coins and in that early period managed to position itself not as one of the options, but rather as crypto itself. So when a lot of people think of crypto they associate it with BTC. The higher the price of Bitcoin, the easier it is for them to talk about diversification as an insurance mechanism, which makes no sense because of what you explained.


As for calling Bitcoin the king, I would not agree with such a title in any context because it does not reflect what Bitcoin represents, and also implies that there is some kind of kingdom that someone surely wants to conquer. The whole altcoins industry has never had nor will it ever make sense in the sense that it can change the relationship one has towards Bitcoin when it comes to trust and real decentralization.

Bitcoin is certainly the undisputed king. In fact the whole crypto ecosystem started with bitcoin. Bitcoin gave the proof that crypto assets can actually act as a currency. Really bitcoin is the King of the Crypto space. As for me, the only Crypto currency that will not fade away is bitcoin. Example, when LUNA was in the Crypto space, people were saying that Luna was one of the best coin and they invited in it, when Luna crashed, they lost a lot from it.

Learning of cryptocurrency is something that is simple and it's matter of time and matter of making research at all times. If the world experiences a financial crisis due to war or so on, in my opinion Bitcoin will not have an impact because it is not controlled by the bank. Bitcoin will be an asset that remains intact even though the world is war.

While that's true, it did have a head start, but so did other altcoins such as Litecoin, or Namecoin, the first altcoin ever created. None of the two mentioned though are in the top 10 list of Coinmarketcap. Bitcoin is currently the oldest surviving cryptocurrency (not the first one to ever be created, though), with the largest market cap, while its dominance is up to 42%. I think that's pretty self-explanatory.

Even if it had been from the very beginning, the essence of this would not have changed. It would be the same there. Bitcoin is always in the first place, and the 2nd-10th place is shuffled every year. The essence of this picture is not to show the historical distribution of the first 10 coins of the industry, but that invariably in the crypto world only one -  bitcoin. Everything else comes and goes. For altcoins, relevance is constantly changing.

Super true and your explanation is amazing. since 2017 I see Bitcoin is in the first place and until now it is still in the first place. This shows that Bitcoin is always stronger than altcoins every year, so changes in the position of altcoins from 2 - 10 are always there and are always more frequent. I'm sure for next year where Bitcoin will still be the same as now, which is at number 1, so Bitcoin deserves to be said as King because its position is difficult to be taken over by others.

Of course Bitcoin will still get the first position in the crypto sequence which is dubbed the king of crypto. But not with crypto which is from second to tenth position.
I think Ethereum's position will be threatened by Tether within the next year, exactly when the market crash occurs.
The current market conditions are not good, considering the story in the past few years. This makes a significant change in position in crypto, it is possible that the position will be taken over by a stable coin.
