... well, after reading some posts above, maybe that I missed width my decisions to the potB, as for the results of the matches in the UCL, it was not so bad at the point level, anyway, congratulations to the winner of YC

It's difficult to take 5% points from someone who has zero points. To help you understand how the 5% penalty works, I will explain the logic applied. MD1 - 100points MD2 - 0p (100p-5% = 95p) MD3 - 0p (95p-5% = 90.25p) MD4 - 50p (90.25p+50p = 140.25p) MD5 - 0p (140.25p-5% = 133.24p) MD6 - 0p (133.24p-5% = 126.58p) MD7 - 10p (126.58p+10p = 136.58p) etc. My question now is, last year's winner had 180 points. Do you really think that someone who only answers one round and who is lucky enough to get the maximum score in all their choices, will earn more than 100 points? I have several doubts. Only if you make two bets on 4 points, in a multiple of 20 or 30. What is the probability that these multiples will occur during the competition? I doubt. You misunderstood, well, everything I said I know how basic math works, what I asked is whether you get a 5% permanent penalty that stacks and gets deducted at the end or simply a penalty to your current total. I said it's the same to me so I'm not pushing for changes, I'll just explain how in my example YOLO strategy is punished even more. I'll take this example from buwa: Player B, also wins 100 points but by YOLO-ing, hitting 50 points in 2 rounds, getting a penalty 4 times (3 times after having a positive total). R1: 0 R2: 50 (50) R3: 0 (50-5%=47.5) R4: 50 (97.5) R5: 0 (97.5-5% = 92.625) R6: 0 (92.625-5%= 87.99)
The alternative, a 5% permanent penalty, means the following: Total points accumulated: 100. Total Penalties: 4 (20%). Total end of season points: 80. That way getting 0 in the early rounds carries a lot more weight, which shows in 10% less total points won.

I didn't understand the logic I was applying. The idea of the 5% being cumulative could also be an option, to minimize these cases. Or else, assigning negative points. Anyway, I think that many approaches can be used, it's a matter of seeing season by season.

Thank you everyone for the very constructive feedback, sorry if I didn't respond satisfactorily but rest assured, end of season we'll gather more feedback, and go for as much as possible a crowd wisdom implementation of ideas.
I'm not sure if I updated before, but we ended up with 40 people in the pool (including 5 who will pay later as agreed), and we are still accepting late entrants until MD2, so we know we have at least 80 mbtc in the pool. Once the pool is closed, I'll update OP with all this information.
Hopefully, MD2 picks will be open tomorrow (I actually still couldn't get full odds on 1 or 2 games, it's weird, same thing happened with MD1, Real - Inter odds were blanked from every book I checked) =)

There's still a week to go before the next games, so a lot could probably change, based on the results of each club's internal competitions.

I thought we had confirmed 50 players who signed up this year Common guys, we just started with Champions League pool so it is not to late to join and pay participation fee. This is going to be a very long season with new format in Champions League, and anyone can quickly catch up with Pot B predictions. Round 2 is starting in Tuesday, October 1.

Im not gonna put any prediction until the very last moment i think, because we have so many games and i want to see if some teams lose some players or how good they end this weekend, i also need to check a chance to grab a lot of points in POT B.

Matchday 2 could not have arrived in better time, the first matchday was interesting and there are also quite a lot great fixtures to look forward to in the round as well, with the POT B looking more interesting to chase than Pot A. Im not gonna put any prediction until the very last moment i think, because we have so many games and i want to see if some teams lose some players or how good they end this weekend, i also need to check a chance to grab a lot of points in POT B.
If anything for me, I’d not be using the weekend results as part of decision making criteria for either of the Pots, some teams have lost their opening matches and will be under more pressure to get positive results this round to stand a chance of qualification.

Pot B is more challenging the prizes are also bigger, we should be able to determine higher odds to chase the points above it. There is still a possibility that we can judge in the weekend matches, who knows where some players are injured and this could affect their play in the UCL, so I will judge at the weekend before deciding on Pot B if Pot A is usually always random.

I guess I didn't consider potential injuries over the weekend into play initially but I meant to say the actually result is not what I'd be considering when making my decisions, of course players availability sure would be taking into consideration and where possible, I'd be ignoring matches where players of significant impact could be absent, like Real Madrid for instance who would be without Mbappe for at least 3 weeks, Barcelona also without the service of Ter Stegen could be one too look out for as well.

This Pot B model allows you to edit responses until the matchday deadline. It will be considered that some teams will adjust their squad this weekend, to save players for the Champions League.

Gentlemen! Matchday 2 submissions are now open, tagging all participants.
Thanks for reminding everyone so early. I will wait do finish some research before making predictions, and I want to see results from BSFL and other prediction competitions first. Some players got injured and this can happen to others, so better watch out for that before making picks for Round 2. I glanced at Pot B odds and I already have some ideas in mind

With CL being a short format and some players already sitting on a lot of points, I will go with a lot more risk in pot B this time. The penalty doesn't really scare me at this point in time, now it's just a matter of picking the right surprises.
Dinamo to win, anyone?

No guts, No glory, I agree! More like Slovan Bratislava and/or Young Boys with either going right, all one might need the rest of the way would be conservative picks don’t you think ?

Hai no I'm not falling for the 4 points on Barca again lol. Love my team but the odds aren't so great and seems like they didn't even realize we don't have a good keeper in store, that's my club for you walking on thin rope all the time. Let's go @cryptofrka Dinamo!!! I guess there are also some neat looking picks on Over and No goals

Dinamo to win, anyone?
General consensus among Dinamo fans (both irl and online) is that we can't do much vs Monaco who is in a pretty good form, and I tend to agree with them. While Bjelica is an upgrade over Jakirovic, I don't think that he can do much to change the team so drastically in less than a week. Imho, even a loss with no more than 1-2 goals difference will be a good start. Anyway, looking forward to the tonight's game vs Lokomotiva to see how they react after manager change. I may seem overly pessimistic, but after watching Dinamo struggling the other day in the cup vs 4th tier team, I simply can't feel any other way. Looking forward to be proven wrong though.

^ Dinamo fan Rikafip? Not Rijeka? Was just telling the Cro guys a couple of weeks ago Croatia is the lowest on the competitive league index over the last 15 years (based on their dominance via league position, GD, and gap between second-place). It helps explain a little bit their performances, and their reliance on Croatia itself to maintain the coefficient needed to qualify for UEFA club comps. Still, I look way, way up from the Malaysian league (more competitive but shitty coefficient overall anyway).

^ Dinamo fan Rikafip? Not Rijeka? Yep, Dinamo fan. My father was a big fan, taking me regularly to watch the games when I was a kid so no other club for me. Majority of football fans in Croatia (~80%) are either for Hajduk Split or Dinamo (which make sense as they are the most successful clubs) and then rest is spread among few other regional clubs like Rijeka, Osijek, Zadar etc with fanbase mostly limited to their own cities. Speaking of Dinamo, we looked much better last night (it was against one of the worst teams in our league atm), but since just a week ago we lost against equally weak team 1-4, last night's 5-1 win is definitely an improvement. 4-5 years ago we played some of our best football in many years under our new coach last time he was with us, so hopefully he can make it work again. I still don't think that its enough to surprise Monaco, but I guess anything is possible in 1 game. Was just telling the Cro guys a couple of weeks ago Croatia is the lowest on the competitive league index over the last 15 years (based on their dominance via league position, GD, and gap between second-place). Our UEFA coefficient in the last 15-20 years relies mainly on Dinamo, with only Rijeka reaching group stages every once in a while which is simply not enough.

Better teams than Monaco have fallen at Maksimir, to worse Dinamo teams than the current one.
I honestly think we won't lose - everybody is thinking that Dinamo is shit because they got hammered by Bayern. Every team Bayern played against other than Leverkusen got hammered by them, so I won't be using that to gauge Dinamo's European chances.
Surely, we're an outsider. But this Monaco team does not scare me at all even if they started the season strong. Their best players are Golovin and Zakaria - not a team we should be afraid of.
