I believe women are already involved in gambling activity since ancient times.  One example is ancient Rome, women have a special day where they can participate in gambling since they are banned in gambling engagement during regular days.

The point I want to make here is that there is nothing unique about the fact that women gamble. And as far as I have seen, gambling isn't simply an affliction of men. I agree and this is one of the reasons why kids should be exposed with parental guidance to gambling for gambling awareness' sake.  Keeping the kids blind about gambling is one of the mistakes we should correct.  A person must develop gambling knowledge in order to tackle and avoid the negative effects of gambling.  The more knowledge a person has on gambling effects, the more resistant he is to gambling addiction.  Aside from that, an informed person will never hesitate to contact medical experts whenever he sees signs of gambling addiction.

Letting children know about gambling through friends without their parents knowing is also their parents' fault because they give their children too much freedom to interact with their friends without the supervision of their parents. Children will easily catch or understand something from what they see through their friends or adults so they can imitate it easily. And if it's about imitating adult gambling, it won't be good for kids. So every parent should understand what their children's needs are and not just try to fulfil what they want.

because I read this and this topic, I am very curious about what actually influences many people to play gambling and an interesting fact is that people start gambling because of the words (myths) that are often said by their friends or family...

I agree with the research above (but the pros and cons are still there) because it was my first time playing gambling because of an invitation from my friend who said "gambling is a way to make money". now the days have passed and until now I still gamble but with controlled portions.

You can really expect a lot of temptation in money. People never count their losses but they too focus on their winning without knowing that they lose millions while just winning thousands. We can really imagine that gambling isn't for winning actually, we can aim to win the jackpot but sadly, it never gives you instantly nor you are too lucky for that. But guess what, the more we win, the more we become greedy and addicted to gambling.

I think it was better not to win as I was heading away from getting addicted to this.

Gambling could only give us financial problems if we'll not handle it well. If we have the wrong mindset towards it, we will surely see it as a shortcut to success which can lead to greed. If we only see it as a source of entertainment, we will not expect too much from it, and if we will use only the funds that we can only afford to lose, we will not end up having problems with our finances.

I'll add that many (newbies, kids) think that Martingale or similar strategies are a safe win. Of course, until they face a long enough losing streak... Does it count?

Like what I mentioned to my previous replies, the Martingale strategy only works if you have a decent amount of capital that can shoulder the exponential loss if you were to experience a losing streak. Unfortunately, most see this method as the most convenient way of gambling but this is also the most risky due to its nature.

One gambling myth that I heard from my country is that you should feed the remains of your ancestors to cockfighting chickens so that they could win their match. When my grandfather passed away, his body was cremated, thus some of his bones remained solid (though fragmented). My father used some of the bones as chicken feeders which was mixed into their food since they believed that it would give him a winning outcome in the fight.

This is common all around. In the past women weren't much into gambling. Now things have changed a lot. In my country we've got hundreds of sites to play online rummy. Recently one women ended her life after she have lost $10k which she had borrowed from friends and family. The important part, she got addicted and her husband have warned and they were separated out of gambling. Further out of loss and separation from family she ended her life. Through this I understood addicted Women were there in gambling.

Talking in general, yes, they don't gamble a lot but still, they do gamble after all. I've known females personally and they are really gamblers and most of them are into sportsbetting. It all started as a hobby and then eventually turned into an activity that they're doing at most times.
They are betting in almost every sport that they see, basketball, boxing, esports and any sport that they have an idea on how the game is being done.
