There are other alternatives but those businesses are so invested in AWS its kinda hard to make a switch without some major disruption. And back then (even now) reliability is crucial with lesser choices.

Exactly. I was active here during the Cloudflare outage, and then I couldn't post replies. I had almost nothing to do since I just came from a full, busy day and got some time to be on the forum. So I had to watch YouTube videos and continue to refresh the forum to see if I could access it. The connection dropped several times in an hour or so. I was thinking about what I would do if most of Google's services and Meta's services went offline at the same time. What would be left for us to spend our time on? A few major outages, and we will go back to the 19th century.

Cloudflare failure again. There are others which can be used against DDOS.

They all have the same problem. You choose one, and it goes offline for any reason, and your website is toast.

I wish there was a way to combine CDNs. But I'm not sure whether that is even possible, unless you can have multiple nameservers pointing to different CDNs at the same times.

Yep. And if anything those probably face more downtime than Cloudflare. The good thing when using Cloudflare and AWS is that, if your website is down because of them, nearly all the internet is also down, so you won't be seen as incompetent and your customers will have other problems since even they will also be down.

Plenty of websites that use Cloudflare were temporarily down, including x.com and ChatGPT. I just do hope people were not affected when opening and closing positions when trading, in case some exchanges use the service as well.

These things is worrying. Last time it was AWS, now Cloudflare. It's just 2 companies. It's not good when so much of internet is under control of very few hands. Their outages causes so much mess. It's first world problems when you can't check Twitter or Bitcointalk. But globally it can big chaos, especially if outage continues longer than few hours.

You completely ignored the single people and young people who are still under 18. We had an internet blackout in my country last year because of the dictatorial government; we were watching TV channels and playing offline games all day. Fortunately, the dictator had to flee to India due to the protests, and then the internet was restored. I recall that there was a kind of shutdown or lockdown situation, but without internet access. Unfortunately, we do not have the data if there were baby boom after 9 months

The protest in Bangladesh actually spiked because the government shut down the internet nationwide, and the Gen Z population had nothing to do, so they joined the protest and made it bigger. Most of the time, these young guys spend time on social media and play games. But imagine the government shuts down the internet and the schools are closed as well, what would you do? I think most young guys will choose to protest against the government.

The same thing actually repeated in Nepal. The government decided to ban social media, and Gen Z started to protest. The government had to flee as well. So yes, Gen Z won't take it lightly.
