Lomachenko, as far as we know, is the godfather of the children of another Ukrainian boxer, Oleksandr Usyk, and his fight will take place much later than Usyk's fight, so he may well support his compatriot and win. However, considering that Ortiz fully justifies his nickname as technical and he has not lost yet, so Lomachenko will have to try very hard.

I think its Ortiz who should try to work here, he is the underdog and he is up against a very skilled, quick with a good generalship he is fighting the kind of boxer that he has not fought in his whole career, Loma has fought fighters like or better than Ortiz in the past, he has an injury when he fought Lopez, that is why he lost the fight, if we will see a healthy Loma we can see similar fights like the Commey fight, a healthy Loma can beat any great boxer.

Indeed this will be a huge test for Ortiz since some reply here stated that Ortiz hasn't fought any decent fighter yet, let alone Loma who is a very skilled one.  Ortiz should prepare and study Loma closely in order for him to at least match the pace of Loma if not outpaces him.  We may think that this is the same as a walk in the park for Loma but we can't tell if that will be the case since I think Ortiz will be fully prepared for this fight.  I am sure no boxer wanted his career to be blemished.

Wow, another great fight coming up. It's going to be the technician vs hi-tech Cheesy Good nickname combo in this one.

This would be a warm up for loma because we all knows how a good fighter he is and that man ortiz is obviously nothing for hime IMO,because see the difference and the record. So i for sure this will become an easy match for loma this upcoming october and it will become close fight only if loma didn't get this fight seriously inside the ring just to entertain the audience.  Grin

Lomachenko is very good, but he's almost 10 years older and his opponent has a clean record. An opponent with a clean record is never just a warm up.
It's going to be interesting that's for sure. I'd prefer to see him vs Kasombos, but I'll take this one.

Loma vs Kambosos or Haney that will be an exciting fight, so we will have to wait. And that's why it's not good to look at the paper records though, fighters can have 0 lost, but you also have to look at the quality of their opponents. Ortiz best win is against an obvious over the hill Herring, although he has been a champion for several years, but he has aged already, Shakur beat him bad and I think it took a lot of Herring regarding that fight and that's why he was never the same again.

This may not be cherry-picking in a different sense because this kid remains unbeaten. Although he is far from becoming a star especially with his lack of powerful punches, he still has a lot of potential. But in one sense, especially if we consider this as simply a tune-up fight for Loma, then this is a cherry-pick fight. You don't bring your fighter in a lion's den for his tune-up fight. A tune-up fight is supposed to be a guaranteed win for your fighter because a bigger battle is coming. It is just a match to condition his body.

They may have picked the right fighter for his tune fight because he will be up against possibly the winner of the Kambosos - Haney rematch or how about a fight against Ryan Garcia, he needs a tough undefeated, unfamiliar name to be his tune fight for big fights, we all know how Loma fight, fast, quick good counter punching and lateral movement, Ortiz has a big task ahead of him, if he finds a counter like Teofimo Lopez did then he can give Loma a good fight, a good fight is what Ortiz can give but I doubt he can pull out an upset, Loma is motivated like his compatriot Usyk.

Ortiz is chosen for reason by Top Rank, although he is undefeated, he lacks that experience to offset a talented fighter in Lomachenko. And hopefully he can gave Loma a good fight, we don't want to see a one side beating or "nomas-chenko". It should be competition to help Loma to get rid of his ring rust as he has been out for months. And now that Usyk has won his rematch with Joshua, Loma will be looking 2-0 for all Ukrainians.

I agree with you. Ortiz still have a long way to go before he can match Loma's skills.  Aside from that there is a huge difference between fighting a low skilled boxer, a decent boxer and a skilled boxer.  Sadly for Ortiz he is used with fighting against low-skilled fighter so I bet he will be in shock once he dance with Lomachenco on the ring.  But of course we don't remove the possibility of upset win but from the looks of it, it is far from happening because Ortiz doesn't have an impressive knock out record besides I think Loma can receive Ortiz power punches.  Ortiz needs to up his game in order to catch up with Lomachenco's skill.

Upset is possible, but honestly, I don't think he stand a chance against Loma, well, maybe the chance is very slim like 5%, so nothing is impossible. Anyway, I just want to see an impressive win by Loma here because this is his comeback fight.

Wow, that's way too low, almost like a zero chance we all know Loma is a gifted fighter but even he cannot escape an upset, upsets do happen and that makes boxing so exciting, we are always thrilled to see something unexpected like an upset, boxers are trained to give a knockout punch to their opponent so even an underdog has a good chance to win via knock out we have seen that happens in the Douglas- Tyson match and Joshua - Ruiz match, so there's a possibility that it can happen here.

Ortiz may have not lost a fight in his career yet but this time will be much different as Loma is not that easy to defeat and the latter has been through fights that molded him into what he is now, Ortiz should be careful because he could pave the way for Loma's comeback and scathe his record. Well, if Ortiz is that determined then he have to prepare hard just to defeat Loma to have a chance in fighting the champions soon.

If he wants to add good hypes in his resume, beating Loma is one of the best thing that he can do and will open a big door for him

to have a good money fight that will bring more opportunities. Maybe a title fight will come on his way after beating Loma, knowing

how the influence of social media can bring to his career, he just need to prepare hard to take down Loma and it will surely bring him up.

The thing is, if Loma can receive heavy punches from Ortiz without any problem then the possible upset win via KO will be deducted.  If there is no KO for Ortiz, then we can think that Loma will outsmart, out skill and outpace Ortiz.  If a fight goes to distance then I can see a unanimous decision with Lomachenco being the winner.

Ortiz indeed has a very big task in front of him. But of course he could learn a lesson or two from Lomachenko's defeats especially his recent loss to Teofimo Lopez. Of course even Teofimo is hard to copy. Ortiz is so far from reaching what Teofimo has already reached, but he could try learn a strategy or two from that fight and who knows he could give Loma a good fight. At the end of the day, Ortiz has a win-win deal with this even if he will lose.

But one factor that contributes to Loma losing the fight against Lopez is that he can't pull the trigger because he has a shoulder injury.. And you can watch the fight and see that somewhat he is very reluctant in throwing punches, and he just started to get into his groove in round 7 but it was too late as Lopez has compiled points already in the judges scorecard. So I would say that there are still no blueprint to beat a healthy and prime hi-tech Loma.

It was very obvious during the fight that there was something wrong with Lomachenko so I do not hold against him the loss he suffered against Lopez due to the shoulder injury.

Now I will still give Lopez some credit for pulling the win against Lomachenko but he did not defeated him at his best and this reduces the credit he gets, so I will put Lomachenko as the clear favorite to win this fight and once Haney beats Kambosos again maybe we could see Haney and Lomachenko fighting each other to finally demonstrate who is the best out of the two.

Of course Lomachenko will be favorited in this match, even he's taking a break and no fight anymore, many fans, boxers and boxing reviews still include him as the top boxers on lightweight division. I see there's no way Lomachenko will lose against Ortiz, I think everyone would agree with my opinion.

If Lomachenko vs Haney will happen, it's hard to say Lomachenko will pull an upset since he's has a short arms while Haney have long arms. He need to catch Haney every time and it would drain up his stamina.

Definitely a good tune up fight for  Loma just to clear things up on the issues about Loma ducking against Haney. Also, this would be a good preparation for Loma moving forward to the Haney fight to avoid any reasons if Haney wins because Loma has never stepped up in the boxing ring for quite some time.
Nevertheless, hope after their respective fight they'll finally face each other more prepared.

Right, even his arrival in the US is well covered by Top Rank and to hype the fans I guess. I also not seeing a great fighter such as Loma being upset by a unknown boxer in Ortiz, but we will see.

If Lomachenko vs Haney will happen, it's hard to say Lomachenko will pull an upset since he's has a short arms while Haney have long arms. He need to catch Haney every time and it would drain up his stamina.

Clash of styles, both are very tactical and even if Haney played as a defensive boxer, he is technical as well when he do his counter using that long arms of his and obviously it bother Kambosos in their first fight. And so they need first to win respectively to set up a huge fight.

I don't think that Loma is ducking Haney, it was just that George Kambosos activated the rematch clause so there's nothing that Haney can do but to honor that. Besides, he has beaten Kambosos already so we might see him doing the same in the rematch.

And it's good for Loma to have a tune up fight first, maybe he is eager to comeback, but he should prepare for the bigger fight later. So Ortiz could be a test for him. This is also good for Ortiz as we might see how he fight and he will be exposed with his name.
