I have compiled some books and some documentaries you can use to educate them and also you can explain through these things what Bitcoin really is. Though they might not understand it for the first time, eventually they will have a legit understanding of it with your guidance. They may have the books, but you still have the key because of your long-time experience in this community.

I've tried multiple times, however I always get the same response after a few months. They tend to forget about everything we've talked about, and don't use that information that I gave them to do their own research. However, I'll admit that might be due to me being a awful teacher, I'm not sure.

I find most people that I come across are interested in Bitcoin in some way, but ultimately it's a little bit too much work to understand it, since it's not a easy thing to understand right off the bat. I've never attempted a class room teaching scenario like you've done above though, only really had one on one conversations. I think I've convinced one person to be interested enough to believe Bitcoin might be a better alternative, but to my knowledge they've yet to get stuck in.

First, I have to say that I have been in this situation before. My brother is about 40 years old and still has no idea about Bitcoin. My God, teaching him about Bitcoin was a nightmare. I just think some people can't really understand bitcoin. Do all students learn math in a classroom? Of course not!

Second, yes, the teaching method is very important. I recently saw a video on YouTube where someone was teaching teenagers about Bitcoin using flash cards. I think it's great.
In the end, thank you, and I hope you can experience the excellent feeling of teaching someone. Wink

The thread you linked is really a nice compilation. I had watched plenty of techy movies like on involving Snowden which I am pretty sure many knows who he is, but I had never encountered any movies like that yet.
I am not really a fan of books though when it comes to Bitcoin, though I still read books but a different niche/topic instead.
Curious to how many more movies out there are focused to crypto, considering that  Bitcoin has been in awareness of the many already. Roll Eyes

I believe the things cryptocurrency beginners need to understand first are the history of Bitcoin, why it was created, and its benefits. You later move to the blockchain, how to send BTC and wallet (which includes how to use the wallet securely and verification of wallet like electrum)

s Top altcoins especaillly Ethereum and Binance
It was a Binance coin actually but I expect this coin, SOL, etc other altcoins that offer dApps to experience some major dump if ETH merges yield a good result.

PS: If you have friends who don't know anything about Bitcoin, start teaching them. Believe me, you will be happy after each meeting Wink
I've tried multiple times, however I always get the same response after a few months. They tend to forget about everything we've talked about, and don't use that information that I gave them to do their own research. However, I'll admit that might be due to me being a awful teacher, I'm not sure.

No, I think the problem is with the person you are teaching.  You know, many people wanted to be spoonfed with information instead of researching stuff themselves, I also get tired of teaching people because they tend to not do their own research and just rely on the one who taught them for additional information.  worst is that they are not actually serious about learning because they tend to forget everything.  It is frustrating especially when you have given them all the links that contain videos and explanations about the basics of Bitcoin.

In fact, I found that they are interested to learn about Bitcoin. Also, one of them wants to buy some bitcoin and give it to his wife as a wedding anniversary.
Well, that's quite an odd anniversary gift, not sure about the romance behind it, but if it triggers interest in Bitcoin, it could give more value overtime than other more conventional gifts which are given during such periods.

Great that you're teaching Bitcoin to people around you; I'm beginning to find many of the posts about this subject performative, but if as little as one person gets interested in Bitcoin through them, then it's very worth it.
Bitcoin will gain higher value in the future, so it’s certainly a good anniversary gift for keeps. And the more bitcoin you give, the bigger the profits will be, as long as they’re intended for long term investments.

Bitcoin is a very interesting topic I guess and people who have sharp minds and wise mindset will definitely fall into bitcoin. I just hope OP that you will also explain to them that investing in bitcoin brings a lot of risks too, that is why they should only invest amount that they can afford to lose.

For now, I will teach them about buying, selling, and holding Bitcoin, and I'll use YouTube for video tutorials. Also, maybe I'll buy a book about Bitcoin (if I can find it); if not, I'll have to download a book and print it out.

Actually, you can't be a good teacher if you are not a master of that field. So how about I suggest you postpone the teaching class until you fully understand Bitcoin, how it works, the risks involved and the best way to avoid such risk. Because in as much as Bitcoin is a good investment, don't forget that it is also volatile, of which the price value goes up and down every single seconds. So please never you be the teacher who teaches only the advantage of Bitcoin, but whenever you teach, always try to make people understand both sides, so that when the time comes, they will be able to make the right decision.
So once again. I wish you goodluck

Teaching can still be effective if there is an intervention between the teacher itself and the students, as the teacher also learns from the ideas of his own students. With bitcoin, as long as there are good video tutorials that will help OP to carry out to his friends about the concepts of bitcoin and all its advantages and disadvantages, then I think his friends will still learn and gain new insights from bitcoin. And if they are really determined, they can also continue doing DYOR at home to gain clearer understanding about bitcoin.

I don't understand why some people are recommending the OP altcoins as a topic of discussion to his friends in a Bitcoin thread and Bitcoin Board, if they choose Bitcoin as a reference, then the OP is very smart for doing that because when the friends enter into the altcoin world, they wouldn't be brainwash by those lies they usually tell to convince people to buy shitcoins.
To the original poster, you're doing great work, you know the importance of privacy as I can see from the image you upload for viewers, don't forget to teach that in bitcoin. It is one of the easiest things we do forget to take care of and yet one of the most important things everyone shouldn't underestimate in cryptography, teach them how to avoid centralized exchanges at all costs.

Whenever you do make out some introduction or sharing up with information specially with bitcoin then of course you shouldnt really be that only focusing into its pros but also into its risk or simply
with its cons so that those people on where you've been sharing those information wont really be having that kind of positive perception and anticipation towards it which might cause for them to
make some bad decisions just because they are really that hoping or believing that much without even trying to look back on what are the possible risk that lies ahead or possibly could happen along the way.

I sincerely believe that any initiative adds up, but bitcoin really has to be taught like a school to an adult, not really, what is needed is to create a debate, you have to teach how to rebel, no !, it is not to create an anti-government movement, but at least if your friends are those ages, and with the power of current information, at your fingertips, today you do not teach an adult, today you ask him what you have learned, it is in everyone to propose it, and it is a constant evaluation to ask any adult do you use bitcoin?

With all due respect, I believe that this topic seeks to link or resemble that of children, maybe...

A good initiative so far. I intend to teach but sadly this is prohibited in my country. So can't lecture about Bitcoin openly. I only would share with my nearest friends who are well educated. But sadly they aren't interested in that. Most people are just busy with their job and happy with that. They don't want to come out from that structure. Anyway, try your best to give them the correct lesson. If you feel any difficulties then share them with the community. We can help the right way.
The sad fact about these days is that people have already been attached to their own jobs and have no plans either to create new avenue for profits because they are already satisfied from the income of their stable jobs. The reason why most people ignore about bitcoin and all its potentials to give higher profits compared to their salary wages. However, you have all the time OP to let them understand how bitcoin works and all the opportunities they can get from bitcoin. With your proper guidelines and continuous assistance on them, for sure they can create best opportunities with bitcoin.

Actually the world of the bitcoin is really broad or vague topic and of course most of our friends would like to join when we tells there's a chance of possible earning and it is good to enlighten them at the same time introduce to.them what are the possible risk they can experience again the crypto currency has no assurance with all the time profit.

Really nice initiative, for me I told many of my friends and relatives about Bitcointalk forum because I am sure that they will learn everything they need to know about Bitcoin here, in this wonderful forum there is a lot of valuable information about Bitcoin so it is necessary for all members to invite their friends to know about this forum if They wanted to learn Bitcoin. Personally, I don't think you need to look for a book about Bitcoin because BitcoinTalk contains everything you need to know about Bitcoin more than any book.

No, for a complete newbie, I would recommend going with the OP's approach. It will be more practical and easy to understand, making it easier for listeners to absorb. When we talk directly with each other, we can share and teach them in more detail than referring them to the forum to start learning. Not everyone likes to read books or read articles that are dozens of pages long, not to mention if you leave them here as a newbie, they will be easily tempted with scams and hyped projects. After you have taught them the basics of bitcoin then you can help them create an account on the forum and you can ask them to continue their journey of becoming their own bitcoiners.

It's really good to see that more and more members are engaging into this educational stuff for their friends and family bitcoin related. This will help spread more awareness among people but you need to realise that before we teach someone we should have the adequate knowledge about the same and it's really good to tell them basic things if they are not too technical.

Second don't know if I am the only one who find it hard to clearly read your handwriting  Grin but if they are then it's good. One more thing that fees is not fixed but it depends on the size of your transaction and the congestion of the network and you can check them always or pay more if you want fast confirmation.

What a good friend you are, exerting an effort to teach your friends.
Are they the one's who were interested learning about Bitcoin in the first place? Coz if not, there might be challenges in teaching people about Bitcoin for the first time. Especially when it does not attract their interest during the first meeting.

I shared and taught a little, just the basics to some of my co-workers before about Bitcoin, I've showed them some results of my investments and it did get their interest. However, not everyone of them have enough resources to buy some Btc. Though some of them are now continuing to learn and invested as well.

Definitely a great initiative. You can introduce the botcoin talk platform too, because even you go through these threads you can get an overall idea about this field. It's an additional support for you to strengthen the basics, of course. Anyway, all the best.

Before you do that you need to first know if btc is legal in your country. We don't want to get ourselves and the people that will join us to be in trouble. I think there are who know that btc is already legal in their country but still afraid to spread the word bitcoin on the people around them because they think they won't be interested and they are afraid to be blamed in case those people that they recruit invests and loses their money.

No mate the OP didn't jump on btc trading but as you can see in the pic, there is a whiteboard where btc introduction is written. He knew that starting in the beginning is more beneficial and won't mislead people.

PS: If you have friends who don't know anything about Bitcoin, start teaching them. Believe me, you will be happy after each meeting Wink

good to know that they did understand your writing lol . joking aside mate but this is a good initiative from your side being a  forum member at least you are luring more people inside , but at least they are literally going to invest than just joining the community and to be part of campaigning.
goodluck to your journey in teaching them.
