After seeing Mr.Magkaisa's post, I decided to teach my friends a little about Bitcoin. I know them through university, they are 25, 27 and 35 years old respectively. A few months ago, we talked about our work, and I told them that I am a member of a Bitcoin community.

They had no understanding of Bitcoin. After seeing Magkaisa's post a few days ago, I decided to call them and invite them to my home. First, I showed them a video on YouTube and then wrote everything on the board. They wrote down all the tips, and next week I will teach them how to buy bitcoin through an exchange. Maybe Binance or Coinbase. After the meeting, I had a good feeling. Teaching others is a fantastic feeling. If they invite their friends to this class, I can teach more people about Bitcoin, and maybe I'll invite them to this forum.

For now, I will teach them about buying, selling, and holding Bitcoin, and I'll use YouTube for video tutorials. Also, maybe I'll buy a book about Bitcoin (if I can find it); if not, I'll have to download a book and print it out.

Do you know a good book? Please let me know. (For elementary level)

PS: If you have friends who don't know anything about Bitcoin, start teaching them. Believe me, you will be happy after each meeting Wink

I usually do it the reverse way. Instead of convincing my family, relatives, friends, etc., to start learning more about Bitcoin, they’re the ones who approach me to learn more. Coz’ I don’t want to waste time teaching them if they are not interested. I consider them as interested if they are the ones who usually inquired to me.

How do I attract them? Posting Bitcoin-related news, images and memes in my social media. Travels. Lifestyle change.

They just simply ask what I do and I just told that I’m into Bitcoin. That’s it. End of conversation (unless I hear from them that they want to know and learn more about it, so the convo continues).

We can’t please everyone you know. There are also no promises or guarantees that they will buy Bitcoin even if they are interested to learn.

But in the OP’s case if that’s what you are really aiming for, go for it. Continue spread the word about Bitcoin the way you are doing now.

In the First place, I admired the courage you have by doing this thing to your neighbor, and sharing teaching to those people who are thirsty to learn about bitcoin. This is just my opinion, since they are new to learning bitcoin, maybe you should slow them down first, maybe later on they won't immediately absorb what you are saying to explain bitcoin. I'm not saying don't teach them Bitcoin trading, maybe it's too early to put them on that subject. Because most people here in this community know first. But whatever your style is, I don't want to cover it. This is just my advice to you that you have no obligation to do or follow, but if you do, thank you.

In fact, I found that they are interested to learn about Bitcoin. Also, one of them wants to buy some bitcoin and give it to his wife as a wedding anniversary.

Well, that's quite an odd anniversary gift, not sure about the romance behind it, but if it triggers interest in Bitcoin, it could give more value overtime than other more conventional gifts which are given during such periods.

Great that you're teaching Bitcoin to people around you; I'm beginning to find many of the posts about this subject performative, but if as little as one person gets interested in Bitcoin through them, then it's very worth it.

A few months ago, we talked about our work, and I told them that I am a member of a Bitcoin community.

Trust, you understand that you are a member of a bitcoin community, it doesn't mean that here is your workplace. You can only boost that you go work here if you are a bounty or signature manager, you run some freelancing services here, I might not say signature campaign because most are  not long term.

They wrote down all the tips, and next week I will teach them how to buy bitcoin through an exchange. Maybe Binance or Coinbase.

I am strongly objecting here, you are teaching them or starting them on a very wrong note. You shouldn't be proud to take them to exchanges when you have not taught them how to own bitcoin and have their personal seed phrase or key. Teaching them the real liberty about Bitcoin and they can learn about exchanges as they grow in the industry. Their bitcoin can be freezed or compromised on exchanges.
Since you are their first teacher, please teach them the real bitcoin values because it is difficult to unlearn wrong things when they first sink in the medulla.

Congratulations for your great move.

Actually, you can't be a good teacher if you are not a master of that field. So how about I suggest you postpone the teaching class until you fully understand Bitcoin, how it works, the risks involved and the best way to avoid such risk. Because in as much as Bitcoin is a good investment, don't forget that it is also volatile, of which the price value goes up and down every single seconds. So please never you be the teacher who teaches only the advantage of Bitcoin, but whenever you teach, always try to make people understand both sides, so that when the time comes, they will be able to make the right decision.
So once again. I wish you goodluck

This is a great initiative by you. Really, this is aprititeable. What is best for you and what is most appreciable is that you start with your basic stuff. And I think you are starting with your family because they are listening to your lecture in their house clothes. And the best thing is that they look like they are so concentrated on this topic. You know, I also teach my friends and my younger brother about bitcoin and altcoins and all of their ecosystems. And I loved to talk about bitcoin and crypto. By the way, all the best.

A good initiative so far. I intend to teach but sadly this is prohibited in my country. So can't lecture about Bitcoin openly. I only would share with my nearest friends who are well educated. But sadly they aren't interested in that. Most people are just busy with their job and happy with that. They don't want to come out from that structure. Anyway, try your best to give them the correct lesson. If you feel any difficulties then share them with the community. We can help the right way.

I also have the same initiative as you about my desire to share knowledge with friends around. My country has never banned it and I can even open an open lecture to spread information about bitcoin to people who are interested, but unfortunately I don't have enough time to do that.

So far I've only reached out to a few people to teach bitcoin (my friend), but I can say that they are not very interested in this knowledge because they tend to be interested in trading and investing. I'm not going to force them to know the technically, but I have to tell them about the basics of bitcoin so they don't get lost even if they're not interested in learning it any further. The orientation of most of them is just income or profit from bitcoin, but that's not my problem.

I decided to call them and invite them to my home. First, I showed them a video on YouTube and then wrote everything on the board. They wrote down all the tips, and next week I will teach them how to buy bitcoin through an exchange. Maybe Binance or Coinbase.
Reading about bitcoins and watching tutorials to know about bitcoins can be be beneficial and a good way to learn about bitcoins, but I'd always say it can never compare sometimes to a teacher who can facilitate your learning process, point you in the right direction, teach you to avoid some mistakes rather than you learning from your own experience, shorten your learning time and be a quick guide. You are being that teacher and that is very applaudable, a good thing also is that teaching helps you know better, so in doing this OP, you are also doing yourself some good.

In the long-term, I would like to hear/know the continuous progress of your teachings to your friends and how did they apply it. I am not really a fan of reading books related crypto that much especially that I deal with techy stuffs and I would prefer seeing it in action rather than in words or figures.

Actually, you can't be a good teacher if you are not a master of that field.
If the OP has a relevant experience to it and would just wanted to show how it is done through YT tutorials, then I think that is sufficient enough. You are not required to know everything to teach someone. I am pretty sure, OP is going to share his experience with crypto and not just blindly throwing tutorials to his friends without knowing what risks involved to it.

That's very good to see people are started teaching bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to their friends and other people because this will definitely increase their knowledge and brings more demand to the market, on the other hand. During this week I saw many other similar cases where people were doing the same thing even the church and parks but regarding your case, I think there is not ant complete book for you to teach them and the best thing you can do is to start reaching through the internet and find the good syllabus for them to have them in the correct way also since they may have differante knowledge levels and visions of bitcoin you can start everything from zero.

Many people need that kind of education to know what kind of cryptocurrencies are and what Bitcoin is in general. It's a good initiative for your friends so they can learn it and maybe contribute to your community.

Maybe you can focus on different things as well like
  • Introduction to Trading
  • Introduction to Altcoins and differences from Bitcoin
  • Benefits of being a cryptocurrency user
  • Bitcoin Collectibles

You can check these links out.

These initiatives that you guys are doing are amazing and great. It's like a domino impact and I hope that the others who have optimistic friends will also rely on their call to learn more about bitcoin. I've done this before a few years ago and they're all optimistic looking at how ripe the price of bitcoin was. But, eventually lost their attention as they only looking at the price and not the technology and long term effect that they will love in the future. Well, I'm not wrong with those words to them and no one from those friends I've introduced bitcoin happen to really care and invested.

More and more users of our forum have directly got into teaching friends and family about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. As the market is getting widened more and more scams were happening around in the name of cryptocurrency. The education provided by the forum users will surely help the people stay away from scams and traps.

I wish to have a small weekly session same as this. Because, I see a lot of people getting scammed around in the name of cryptocurrency and the reason behind is expectation of profit without proper understanding about cryptocurrencies.

You did a nice job of letting your friends know about bitcoin and the forum. I commend you for your enthusiasm for taking such a step. Am also spreading the same awareness to my friends by letting them know about bitcoin. It seems not an easy task but we are getting there gradually. thanks to this forum for embroidering my knowledge towards the teaching of crypto to them

What a good friend you are, exerting an effort to teach your friends.
Are they the one's who were interested learning about Bitcoin in the first place? Coz if not, there might be challenges in teaching people about Bitcoin for the first time. Especially when it does not attract their interest during the first meeting.

I shared and taught a little, just the basics to some of my co-workers before about Bitcoin, I've showed them some results of my investments and it did get their interest. However, not everyone of them have enough resources to buy some Btc. Though some of them are now continuing to learn and invested as well.
