Scammers are very smart on how to get peoples attentions and they are also smart in inventing new strategies that can be so real to easily convince people

Sometimes, it is no need to be very smart to be a scammer because once they only promise very promising results and prospects, they may be able to do that easily if they find certain people who are greedy and also obsessed with money, instant ways, and beginners who don't really know the world of scams.
But, although we have told them many times, they will not believe us and become a victim of certain scams.
Convincing people by giving a high promise, moreover wth instant profits to gain highly will really attract many people as stated above. And this becomes a very good loophole for scammers to take advantage of those people.

Beginners don't get awareness of scam on social media,  some mostly get aware of scam with personal experience.

In fact, social media become the most platform that newbies get and fall into scam. Although have been taught several times, they may be too easy to be approached via social media.

beginners and scams are always some of my concerns. I don't want to bring my family into the crypto world cause I know how heavy the responsibility will be to encourage them to learn about this new world first. They are prone to scam trials. I don't want to feel responsible. Even if they want to jump in, I always warn them that crypto is not an easy way to get rich, it's complicated, and you need to be serious to learn it so you won't get trapped later.

I start to make videos about crypto on my youtube channel to share my experience with beginners and I always remind people to guard themselves in this cruel world. I'm also planning to make a video about many types of scams in the crypto world in the near future. Wish me luck.

This often happens because of the ignorance of newbies, plus they don't find out in advance about anything related to their investment, and even they just follow the others because they are carried away by FOMO and also the hype that is spreading. Most newbies think that the investment or projects are very good and they can earn high profits very easily. This is what makes many newbies then lose their money and make them blame cryptocurrency. Whereas, they are starting in the wrong way because of ignorance coupled with an unwillingness to find out first. This often happened, but again, many more newbies still become new victims again.

It is better to be properly and well-informed about whatever that might seems shady or confusing especially when it comes to transaction and investing into any form of cryptocurrency. No matter the amount of money involved, no money is too small to loose into the hands of scammers. In other words, social media awareness is also one of the ways to minimise the activities of the scams online but that doesn’t eradicate them completely, the ability to have a non-greedy habit is very important so as not to fall into their traps. Scammers attract people with a lot of sweet offers whereby most people falls for their trick, so therefore the awareness starts from our self awareness and training, then to third party and social media as well. Scammers are also on social media, therefore, the awareness starts from our mind and self discipline.

Scams on social media are unavoidable because there are so many tricks they do to trick beginners into getting caught up in their seductions, even with hype methods that are created or trending, usually fraudsters make every way to do it so they can earn money. more money from these scams, indeed I also hope that beginners know and be careful about scams on social media a little bit carefully and don't be influenced by their unreasonable offers.

For example,,, I found the Ethereum Giveaway on Twitter, the blue tick marked below the account has been verified by Twitter, but the scamer was able to get it only for the fake giveaway trap.

Like the popular wise saying, experience is the best teacher. Most of us learn to be very careful after our first terrible experience. To me, being on social media means you are not longer a kid and you don't need to be told about scammers. Although creating awareness can reduce scam as you proclaim but self caution is the best. Many impersonated known personalities and scammers use this account to trick innocent people - I guess there is easy money in social media more than the profit we earn from investing in Bitcoin or crypto.
As per to see, as the technology keeps on upgrading, more and more scammers had already popup and more tricks. And the more we don't have to trust strangers anymore.

I recently read an interesting study by Group-IB, a Singapore based cybersecurity firm, on the raise of the giveaway type of scams (i.e the send me x and I’ll send you x2 back). I presume that they only detect a subset of the cases, but at least it gives us an idea of what’s going on:

During the first half of 2022, the company identified over 2K registered domains specifically created for these false giveaways, being the figure a very significant rise over last half of 2021. The main domains being used are .com, .org and .net, totalling  80% of the cases.

The majority of these domains were registered through Russian domain registrants, though the scams themselves were essentially carried out in English and Spanish.

The study indicates that the main source for traffic to these giveaway scam sites is YouTube, followed by Twitch and non-cited crypto streaming platforms. The average number of viewers for a fake giveaway stream is in the 10K-20K viewer range. I was surprised that regular social media posts (FB, Instagram, Telegram, etc.) were not mentioned as a core source.

They also talk about the existence of a whole marketplace out there to aid (at a not so high cost) others to commit these types of scams, providing services for hijacking streaming accounts, domain names, programmers, hosting, tools for deepfake, and so forth.

Everyday there are newbies who came here try there fortune on cryptocurrency and once they see something like this for sure this will catch there attention. This is the reason why we see this scam ends up since there are still so many newbies around and for sure they want to fool those people so thag they can accumulate more money on their pockets. For sure the interest of mainstream media is one of the reason why people got interested on this and scammers use the current events to use it on their scams.

It is not surprising indeed that Youtube is one of the core spreaders of scams. Because in recent years the use of YouTube has increased. So this could be the reason why it happened. If we look at the data uploaded by wordstream.com, Youtube is currently in the second position as the social media with the highest monthly active users.

But, I'm a little surprised by Twitch, this social media isn't really big, and can be said new for a lot of people, unfortunately this platform become number 2 for fake giveaway. Is it possible that this fake giveaway case is increasing because of the P2E hype?

The best one can do to avoid falling into scam be you a beginner or an old user in this community is to create the attitude of avoidance to all those juicy offers and mouthwatering offers those scammers use in getting their victims.

Learn to avoid clicking on almost every site that look promising to you, try do more verifications and research on the said promos, bonuses or promises such may be offering, perhaps you could contact others that have debt knowledge about the business ask questions about it, and stop having the fear of losing out if you don't do it immediately, for there's always market opportunities in the crypto business.

Is there anyone in bitcoin right now who doesn't know a thing or two about social media scammers? They're no longer new to the public, all they've been doing is repackaging frauds that are far too obvious when you see them.

If you go to Twitter, it has become a mess to enjoy good replies without sporting a scammer in crypto related threads and it is very annoying, they have even decided to push CZ picture on all of their bots account to comment auto generate replies just to get peoples heads that CZ is doing a give away and Twitter has not found a single solution to these bots. We have these guys all over social media, but I believe Twitter and Youtube are the most dominating places where they hide and mimic channel owners, and nothing is done by the owners of these platforms.

Once you ask a question as a newbie, you will see a lot of them flooding your DM and claiming to have good intentions meanwhile, they are there to scam. Very pathetic.

Yes, scammers are not restricted and that is because no one well taught it was a scam in the first place. They are actually smart that can hide their true colors and intention until someone becomes a victim. I'd never know what are the precautions that these social media are doing to combat these things but for sure this can never be stopped and the only we do as in individuals is to be more responsible for our doings and never trust those huge offerings in social media as this is a very known scam trick.

I have always have the mindset that anyone who enters my pm to talk anything concerning money is a scammer. Coming up I have used people's experiences to be very conscious how I interact with people on  social media.   Scammers brings new strategies to get people,  people don't need to be fast in accepting offers in social media.
