I believe everyone here onboard this platform once had a very  though and challenging moment with bitcoin at the initial start. At first it seems unrealistic then looks like a scam but at last it was a real deal. sharing our experiences and worst moment might just help others build on and also bring us back to the very first beginning of our journey into bitcoin then. This would also help us evaluate how far we have gone and also creates room for more on-boarding of more adopters. Sharing our experiences on how we started would also encourage more to be steadfast  in the system. This would go a long way in helping others at the verge of giving up on bitcoin.

How was your worst moment and experience like and how were you able to handle it then ?

To be honest enough I didn’t have any bad time with Bitcoins.
I mean I don’t really care the price about the Bitcoins.
I just buy coins whenever I can and used to sell whenever I need. I am not that type of person who invests his all money and savings directly to Bitcoins and wait for many days to find the right price target to cash out.
To my fortune, I haven’t also encountered any type of scams with Bitcoins, for which I am really thankful.

How was your worst moment and experience like and how were you able to handle it then ?

My worst moment was after the bull run way back 2017. I managed to buy myself a personal computer during that time while studying in college from doing different crypto-related tasks. I was already planning to give some to my parents the next year of that since I have nothing to spend on after I bought my PC. I promised them that I would handle the expenses for fixing our garage thinking that my income will continue until the market crash happened in 2018 and I lose 80% of my crypto portfolio. I told them that I can't handle the expenses anymore since the value of my assets went down a lot. They don't understand how crypto works so they thought that I was scammed and heard many hurtful words from them with that experience. I've never sold my assets during that crash since the value is almost worthless. I stay away for a few years on the crypto space to focus in my studies. After I finished it in 2020, my group chat in crypto started to become noisy and I found out that the crypto market is starting to go up again. I immediately checked my portfolio and saw that its value recovered by 70%. I was able to recover my money during that pump and use it as a capital to start my crypto journey again.

My crypto experience has been great, I am fortunate to be aware of the scam tactics in the crypto space. My worst moment would be not selling my bitcoin when the price was close to $60k in 2021. I was infatuated with with wall observer thread and bitcoin reaching 100k$ that I hodl. Worse decision ever! I could have sold then and bought the dip making huge profits.

Early on I made some bad investment decisions with alts and various projects within the cryptospace. No breaking losses, but a waste nonetheless, especially since those decisions that did turn out profitable were in hindsight not profitable enough to justify the risk. Waking up to a project turning out to be a scam, or at least not as groundbreaking as expected -- not a good feeling.

With Bitcoin itself though I just watch the ebb and flow of the markets. I watch them closely and with great interest, mind you, but at this point lamenting about missed buying or selling opportunities feels like complaining about the weather. So no bad moments with Bitcoin, but a few with the cryptospace surrounding it.

The bad time I had is that I knew bitcoin was going to go up in 2020/2021 but I did not invested in bitcoin, I used my money to trade, to trade altcoins for that matter. I lost all, so I was unable to invest in bitcoin when the right time came which was like 2 weeks before halving that I planned. Bitcoin rose from $8200 to $69000. I still always see it as a lost opportunity. I wish 2024/2025 would not be another one that I will not have enough money to invest in bitcoin, because bitcoin all-time-high is coming again.

The worst time for myself was using Coinbase for tHe first time in 2017. I bought some bitcoin from the exchange and had to wait 24hrs until the transaction cleared. There was no sleep that night and a lot of stress! And that was the last time I used Coinbase !!

Worst moment for mostly I think will be about selling low and not buying when it's low. That's the worst moment that I can think of as part of my bitcoin journey.

Not buying a lot when it's very that much low and not selling all that I've got for profits and then will just have to buy back when it has gotten that low.

And for some, the worst might be when they're hacked and phished.

When bitcoin was still trading between $15k and $18k, I lent bitcoin to someone who was in desperate need of cash. I agreed that the loan will be payed continously for a few months. Unfortunately, the pandemic occurs, and bitcoin surged to $60k, making it difficult for that person to pay the exact amount of sats when it was still trading at $18k.

In the end, I agreed to be payed equivalent to the original loan amount in our local currency instead of the original quantity of sats when bitcoin is trading at around $18k. So yea, it's like a losing spot trade with extra steps.

My worst moment on Bitcoin was when my friend invite me to do faucet and collect satoshi for a week then he refers me on investment scam that double your investment after 1 week. I wasted all my time and effort collecting those satoshi which is around 0.15BTC+ on an investment scam that my friend refer to me. I become hesitant on Bitcoin investment after that until I discover this Bitcointalk forum and learn the real knowledge about Bitcoin.

The fact that getting totally in and out of positions trying to time markets isn't for everyone. It was stressful as heck. Today, I only allocate a certain percentage of my total bankroll for making trades than span months, not days or weeks like how I did back then.

I never had one, to be honest as I always do things in moderation to avoid some high risks to take care of my mental and emotional health. I avoid investing when the market is currently not good and chooses the right time to buy low and sell high. Many people really enjoyed the time when they first introduce bitcoins, especially those who have less money and wanted to look for another source of income on the internet luckily they found bitcoin in its early stage and decided to join the financial revolution. Those who don't have money to buy joined some faucets and do some bounty campaigns back then and with their patience, they were able to earn a decent amount of income.

I do not have the worst moment in bitcoin but the moment that I regret is I am not digging deeper about bitcoin in 2011-2013, although I heard about cryptography and bitcoin because I did not think it was interesting to search for more info. But later on, after I heard that bitcoin would explode in the future and saw the altcoin have a chance to reach its position and give some profit, I tried to search for further info. The challenge I face from time to time is how to accumulate more and more bitcoin, as I know it will be a long journey to have many bitcoins. But that will not stop me from doing that.

My first time trying to invest in Bitcoin. I've known what Bitcoin was for like a few years but never considered entering it but around the period before Covid went down, I tried investing, and boy I wasn't even doing daily trading but knowing that my money was at risk of being lost was stressful as heck. The worst challenge is to try to stay afloat to stay around the crypto industry especially trading. Because I as a beginner once lost money in just a matter of hours. This is because I used to be too greedy and emotional. That's what makes me quite frustrated. Mine has been the common one with everyone of us especially the newbies whereby i begin to make some loss on my coin, this is one of the aspect we all don't like but it is evident that we all must pass through it, when we taste the good and the bad side of it, then we will learn to appreciate, developed and remain ever conscious of things we do and how we engage in doing them with bitcoin, i made some loss being a newbie without having a proper understanding of when to hodl and when it is needed to sell, i made that mistake because i couldn't different the two distinctively and not untill i had the experience of some loss before realizing things I've been missing out, so i ended up learning if you don't do it the right way, you can't get the expected results.

I have been investing in Bitcoin for as long as I have been familiar with it.I have had many bad times and many good times in my life But I've had more good times than bad.But I am losing more on Bitcoin at the moment. I invested high price due to which I have a lot of loss in bitcoin till now.But I have faith that I will be saved from my compensation very soon.

I think my worst moment is when I didn't bought Bitcoin at the early 2017 and on 2019 where the price drop because of panic due to Covid-19 disease. Although it's not a case that I got scammed, cheated or stolen etc, but it just hits different to me.

After that I learn if a good asset will always become a good asset, the market is just suffer from temporary panic and we only need to wait until the market recovered like previous. Now I keep accumulating Bitcoin when it drop higher than 10% every 7 days.

Not necessarily, it is not a must that everyone onboard this platform has experienced a challenging moment with bitcoin, some very small percent of persons were fortunate to have very close guidance during heir early stages with bitcoins and as such may have no really terrible experience that is out of the ordinary with bitcoins. However, this topic can will still be of importance to them to learn and know people's experience, so they can appreciate their hitch free journey with bitcoins much better.

I have never thought of bitcoin as a scam investment ever since I got into crypto way back in 2015 and all I can say is that it was worth my time as I was able to buy things that I could never afford when I was a student back then. However, there were indeed a lot of worst moments I could have thought of that challenge me whether I will continue or not.

Just as what has been replied to by other users above, the most challenging and worst moment was way back in 2018 when the whole crypto market has turn upside down. It was a rollercoaster experience as things have been going upward in 2017 but after a few days things change and most tokens have lost their value. Unfortunately, at that time, I decided to halt all my crypto activities and focus on my studies and after a few years later, I started doing crypto again and regain my lost back then.
