Gambling is a form of entertainment where you spend money and hope that you can win money I consider these games sort of gambling as you spend money to get entertained and hope that you'll get something to get in this case its not money but status

It's the same as the traditional gambling games that we used to play but the reward and prize are in the form of items. So, I'd say that this is also gambling.
You're betting with in-game currency and it's an in-game way of gambling. And that item that has no effect which could be in no demand is like that you've just lost the game then since the item could have no to little value at all.

As long as you spend an amount that has no guarantee if it creates profits or not, then that mostly fall into gambling. But having this gacha game, it’s quite different since you are gambling to win for some items, and not for money or profits. Maybe the reason why only few gamblers engaged in this, aside from having the fact that only big time gamblers can afford this, this kind of game might be a little boring compared to some gambling games we always play in casinos or online sites.

We can surely play games to an extent and buy some instore items but spending huge amount is something that only an addict would do.

This is where NFT will be a great help because of the market it provides where the seller will have no authority with the account anymore once he registered the account to the market. IMO, that's the safest way to buy an account or if you really know the person who is selling.

NFT will really be a game changer once AAA game companies starts to adopt to that type of technology. It will provide security to both side of buyer and seller of the account so no scam will happen. It will also open an idea to the game developers where they can create NFT items that players can use in the game or sell it to other player in exchange for a cryptocurrency where they can sell it on some DEX to receive real money.

Yes and one good example of this is Mir4 an MMORPG game. I am not part of their team whatsoever but I had been playing it for a year.
It may not be a gacha game where there is a toy vending machine like in the new Ragnarok that came out but there's also pulling or summoning items where there's a chance for good items to come out. Many players spend their money here.
The good part, you can make your character an NFT with just hitting a certain level requirement and power score then some processing fees which is not that high.

Trust me, I have seen scams happen to sell just Gmail accounts on a Facebook page, it's not a fun ending for the new player who just wants to enjoy the game with an instant strong character.

If you just want to play comfortably and speed up your progress a little, then buying boosters (or any of their equivalents that are basically the same in every game) is pretty cheap. But if you aim to be in the top, then in this case, spending can grow to infinite values - there will always be someone who will spend more money and we are talking about tens of thousands of dollars. If I'm not mistaken, the top donator at Diablo Immortal spent over $100k.

I can relate to that. My whole POV is based on the game of PubG. It's a very famous game as we all know and I have heard so many cases in my country related to this game.
I have seen how people are glued to their mobile phones all day long and heard cases in news that some kids spent huge money for in game purchases.
Some stole money from their home to buy the in game items. This is why I think all those people who don't have self control over a game are basically addicted to it.

But in general the games that I tried using cryptocurrency, in the early stages already had to buy characters, so this made us think again to continue. I did this before only to get an idea if how much money spent by other players to get the item and yes it could give us a discouragement to not try anymore because it'll surely bust our pockets in the process.

I get a complete understanding that no matter how long I play and no matter how much I spend (to the best of my modest abilities), I will never compare with them. So I think - oh, to hell with it, I will play without spending money and without much effort, just for fun.

I think gacha games doesn't rely in the playing time so even if you say you allocate more time grinding in the game, that alone won't let you unlock special items to proceed on your next quest or to beat the strong players in the game. Comparing ourselves to others is not good but I think it can also give us a motivation. If you would like to be strong like them then you will grind first in the real world to earn cash as much as you can so that you can now afford all of those expensive items in the game.

Restricting ads doesn't help because there are still in game purchases on most games right now including the game made for kids. Time will come that kids will be curious if what is it and they will navigate their way soon to buy an in game item using their own money or their parents money. We can't just say that dev's of those games must remove the pay feature because for sure they won't listen. For them this is the only way for them to earn.

Buying something in the game is like supporting the devs for their hardwork and this will encourage them to improve the game, so I don't really see it as a bad thing as long as self control is there.

This is what I think whenever I buy in-game or additional features in apps, we can’t always enjoy free downloads the Devs also need to get some profit to keep their business going. And it will g more features like special access that gives some player sense of importance.  Though they can earn thru ads but if we think that feature is worth having then supporting their buy-in ideas will not be a problem as long it offers more attraction. It's enough that they give as access for their apps or games to play for free there are platforms like in Nintendo or even in c or alike that we need to buy games just to start playing them.

Gatcha games are addicting right! People tend to overspend to just get the ingame item or character they want, It can really drain your money if you are not careful on spending your allotted amount on doing pulls. I've seen few streamers who tend to overspend because of their viewers, It's quite understandable but I'm sure that there's a factor in it that the streamer is also doing pulls because he really want the certain character aside from his stream viewers request. There are so many gatcha type games that have fallen and lost it's trend and I agree that it's not so worth it in long run because the game is just being replaced by a same newer game. I've seen so many games that is being abandoned by their players because of a new gatcha type game.
