It would make the most sense to have a mathematical understanding of the rules involved and it also relies on the upfront cost of the game. If it costs 0.05 to enter and the outcome is between two players, then you may as well re-roll or you'd be playing a useless game anyway. Presumably the house would only get paid if there was a successful winner and both players choose to re-roll in this situation. Would the odds change if one player is closer or further away from the winning number? It's a novel possible idea for a new game, but only it would rely on trusting the house that the other party is definitely a player and what would be the outcome of one player did not decide to re-roll.

I don’t get it. The winning number is 8. How is that a win for both of them when they didn’t pick the right one? It should be a reroll in my opinion. Doesn’t make sense that they deserve to win either of them. Is there a condition that isn’t mentioned here? Idk.

Haha, this is a tricky one, but based on my personal experience, I would rather have the price split and walk away with 0.05BTC, it better than nothing at all.

I am just imagining that, what if in the process of re-rolling to try to win the full price, the other party ends up winning and you have to walk away empty, you only gonna end up regretting and wishing you had a second chance to ask that the price be split instead of asking the game be re-roll3d.

Better take the half of prize rather than losing it on reroll, I personally go for splitting reward with second winner. If the chances are in my favor to win next roll I will consider gambling potential win. Just my 2 cents.

But no one really knows if you would win on possible re-roll but if you are that someone who do really stick out on guaranteed things then you would surely be that contented on split prize rather than losing those
amounts on possible re-roll.Well, this is a personal choice but the once who would really be making the final decision is on the organizer of said giveaway, whether he would be closing out via split prize

It's better to take home a small profit with a grateful heart than take home nothing with a bitter and regretful feeling. I will definitely share the half with the other winner than to risk in rerolling again without any assurance that I can take home the prize. If given a chance to win, we better grab it than become too greedy because of too much expectation.

I'll go for split the prize, it's already a big amount for me to take home and I would not think of gambling it away for a reroll besides I will be happy to share my prize with other participants if it's a small amount I would have changed my mind and let the lucky guy get the prize, I'm sure the majority of participants will be happy to get a piece of the giveaway.

Being selected as a part of the winner is already difficult in a giveaway therefore I need to grab that share of the pie instead of gambling it to get the full prize. Besides, BTC0.05 is already a good win for that giveaway without risking anything. With that amount, I can already diversify it on other things while still doing my gambling activity at the same time.

It's more regretful if I choose instead to reroll it and in the end, I will not get the full prize. In the event that there's a test after I claimed the half just to know the result of the reroll and I won that test, still the regrets are not that big compare to losing it all.

Reroll for me, you are only 2 person now and I think both parties are fine to risk it all but that's on my point of view only, others may think it's enough at least you got some part of the win but there are individuals who have risky appetite too. Moreover, I think it should be clear the rule/s in the first place since this kind of scenario do happen.

Splitting the prize would be an option for me because we don't need a Replay where we can't necessarily get the amount you mentioned. If each one can get their hands on the prize, 0.05BTC is good money as we will get it very rarely. We can also use that money to continue playing and maybe we can win even more money. It is the best option for gamblers who rarely get wins because they can use the money for other things, including gambling again.

Looks like I am part of the majority that would split the prize with the other gambler instead of rerolling. Usually I am very competitive, but when it comes to gambling I am all about sharing the profits. From my past experiences I know how hard and frustrating it can be to make a profit in gambling. If I have the chance to take a profit and quit then I would do so, if my fellow gambler also gets a profit from it it's great. This would also save from the case that I go for the reroll and lose, then the other user would get it all and I would feel terrible. 0.05BTC is still an awesome winning amount of almost 1k USD today. No need to be greedy and get nothing in the end.

This is very simple if i happens to partake in it, i would definitely split the prize and walk away reason because whenever one applied greed then it bounces to stand a chance of losing everything when trying to reroll or rolling over. With the little prize i have i would give a distance for 24 hrs before trying anything silly again otherwise i may lost all although its giveaway but i won't is better going with half than nothing.

It depends on the agreed rule of the giveaway. None of them actually won because the winning number is 8. If the given rule is that the closest number wins, then it is obvious that it is better to split the prize than reroll. Otherwise, if it is a raffle and no one gets the prize, then it should be rerolled to be fair to others.

That's the thing, we don't have any idea of the condition for the giveaway which is for me the logical thing to do is to reroll as it seems that the closest number will be the winner in which OP has a very high chances of getting.

The question is not easy to answer and depends on several factors. For example, if the other participant wanted the prize as well, a tie might not be ideal for either party. In this situation, you may suggest a different set of rules that makes it clear that there's no need to re-roll.

I think the reward for rerolling is separated and not part of the prize pool since that's optional.

The giveaway guaranteed a prize for winners and that was fixed.

There should be no question of rerolling if originally, the whole pool also covers the supposed double rewards.

Every giveaway must have its own rules. For the case like you are talking about (a draw), I'm sure it is a common rule and most giveaway/contest/competition will split the prize if the result is a draw. However if there is no rule in the giveaway, I would prefer to split the prize as it is better than nothing. Re roll it means there is a chance for me to get the whole prize or get nothing. I'm pretty sure most people will choose to split it.

How can it be a draw when the winning number is 8? But the participants pick the wrong number. Maybe draw in a sense that both of them are a loser but anyway if I were to choose I will go with you and the majority which is to choose to share the prize to the other winner. Not only that it's more guaranteed but I will also feel happier that the other person have win the game because I am a type of person which is generous.

I always like to share everything I have even if I am not that rich enough. 0.05 btc is already a decent amount and I think I haven't received a single amount like that but I can only reach that amount if ill save every sats that I get and it takes a long time.
