I'm guessing how ads are shown is dependent upon which country/nation it is shown in.  Here in the United States with most ads also featured is some sort of "if you or someone you know is addicted to gambling, get help by calling xxx-xxx-xxxx" or something like that.

I'm not sure ads alone are enough to really trigger someone.  If the gambling possibility is out there for you, I'm sure you know it and ad's aren't really going to sway your opinion.

If a gambler is trying to stay away from gambling and it feels hard, it wouldn't help that he/she is seeing gambling ads every now and then. It is actually a challenge for a gambler to stay away from gambling especially if gambling is right there in front of him/her calling him/her out to come back.

If you liken it to porn, I could liken it to smoking. It is really hard for somebody who tries to stay away from smoking if he's always hanging out with friends who smoke and even offer him a stick every now and then.

But staying away from the internet to avoid seeing gambling ads is almost impossible to do. That's too much I guess.

I was just reading some articles on the web and upon every scroll, there was this gambling ad belonging to a casino that just displays, sometimes even covering parts of the text of the article i was reading, then at some point, i began to imagine myself as a gambling addict who is struggling to quit or reduce my gambling habit, and going online and seeing Ads of different kinds from different casinos, would this Ads lure the gambler back into gambling notwithstanding that he or she is trying to stop ?

I personally liken this to some one who is addicted to porn and masturbation, and really wants to stops, but just by scrolling the pages of his Facebook or Instagram account and saw some naked women, which triggers the urge to do it again at that time. Grin

If this continues to happen again and again, do you think such a person will ever leave such a habit?

And another question is, if you are addicted to gambling and wants to quit but discovers that seeing gambling Ads on the internet is one of the triggers that lures you into gambling again, is it possible for you to stay away from the internet until you are sure you've completely healed from that addiction?
We know that such ads can have a very detrimental effect to the people that are trying to leave their gambling addiction behind, however it is almost impossible for this to stop and I will explain why, as we know companies like Goggle create a profile of each person that uses their services, and since they want you to keep using their services then they show ads of stuff in which you were interested before, so a gambling addict which is trying to recover will have to see way more gambling ads than the average person, something which could eventually lead him to gamble again, and this shows once again why it is so important to be allowed some level of privacy online as targeted advertising can be a terrible thing under the incorrect circumstances.

We know that such ads can have a very detrimental effect to the people that are trying to leave their gambling addiction behind, however it is almost impossible for this to stop <...>

I wouldn't say it's almost impossible, it's very difficult, yes, but it can be done. The case of gambling is like the case of someone addicted to alcohol. Do you know how many opportunities you have to drink alcohol? There is alcohol everywhere, if you are an ex-addict trying to recover in the end what you have to do is to know how to live with the fact that there is alcohol everywhere you go, that many people drink alcohol regularly and responsibly and that you can't drink a drop more because you will fall back into a self-destructive pattern of behaviour.

With gambling it's the same, gambling ads are one thing that can influence you, but someone trying to recover, who is well guided by professionals, in the end has to learn to live with the fact that there are many casinos, betting shops, etc. both online and in physical premises, that would allow him to gamble 24/7 if he wanted to, but he has to learn that they are there and he is not going to use them.

In the end it is a question of willpower, and in most cases professional help is needed. Besides, from the cases I know, no one gives up a strong addiction at the first try. The normal thing is to try, go free for a while, relapse once or twice, hit rock bottom and finally quit for good for the rest of your life.

There is absolutely nothing you can do to stop the exposure to gambling advertisements, if you live in a country where it is legal. In my country gambling are legal and we are bombarded by TV and Radio advertisements to market gambling.

The best thing you can do, if you have a problem with gambling... could be to look away and to mute the TV when the advertisement comes on. (self-discipline) - If you really wants to stop, you should not shift the blame for your addiction, but you should tackle it head on.  Wink

And another question is, if you are addicted to gambling and wants to quit but discovers that seeing gambling Ads on the internet is one of the triggers that lures you into gambling again, is it possible for you to stay away from the internet until you are sure you've completely healed from that addiction?

The internet has an algorithm that can suggest you to visit certain websites depending on what habits you do when using the internet. suppose you use the internet to visit gambling game sites, with that internet algorithm responds to the IP and email that you use frequently to visit online gambling and makes you the target market for gambling platform advertisements, so a lot of advertisements about gambling come to you when using the internet.
maybe when I use the internet to view news about politics or fashion other than those related to gambling, the offers that I will receive from the internet are online buying and selling platforms, related to fashion and services websites about government or politics.
If my personality is like that, I'd better replace my communication device with a new one, including changing my cellphone number and email. The next step is to stay away from the gambling environment. If that still doesn't work, I think, I should stop using the internet for some time and stay away from friends who play gambling and then improve my personality and mindset first.

There's a simple solution to that, I don't know if it works with every ads pop up in the internet, but you can use ad blockers though, just to save yourself from seeing these kinds of ads.
I am personally using brave browser as it blocks majority of the annoying ads when I'm trying to open an article in the internet.
I'm not sure if it works to everyone, but it works for me.
However, quitting gambling may not be easy, even if you're not seeing ads, but when your brain continue thinking about gambling, then you can't do much about it but seek for professional advices and help.

actually the desire to stop gambling has become the initial capital to be able to stop being an addict, so why do we have to control our emotions in gambling because if we can control our emotions of course we can control our thoughts and desires to gamble again
it is easy than done mate , there are so much to look at before making this possible , and that comes with "Are we truly understand why we are leaving?" or " Are we Only saying this because of the losses we gather these days"

leave gambling with complete desire and will and not because of the activities you have recently .

Quote
After all, as long as we can change our mindset, we gamble just to have fun, not to make money. I think changing that mindset will help too that sometimes people usually gamble because they are curious to win a lot of money and not for fun, so just changing our mindset seems like we can stop. become addicts, so there is no need to stay away from the internet either because it is good if we divert to something else on the internet that is more positive will help us also avoid addiction
but it is nothing to do with reality mate,  gambling just for fun and never to make money? tell me someone that completely love losing? because gambling is to lose and not to win.

Ad Blockers are a thing nowadays. A gambling addict must install an Ad Blocker on his browser for free and everything should be fine.
I don't see that many gambling ads when I'm surfing. By "gambling ads" I mean online casinos. I see mostly sports betting ads, but I don't consider sports betting to be hardcore gambling. Maybe this has something to do my country's regulations about online gambling advertising over the internet.
Anyway, at the end of the day it's all about self-control. A recovering gambling addict must be strong enough to see an Ad or two and resist the desire to go back into gambling.

But gambling ads doesn't always appeared on google adds, you can watch a sports and then see the team or the players promoting the casino site. Also there's an exchange or wallet that has a gambling ads and send on your emails, you will read the gambling site in this way. It's hard if you're really want to avoid all gambling ads, I think if there's a person who want to quit gambling they must avoid to use phone and watch TV.

That's right, we can find ad blockers to remove gambling ads from websites. However, apart from legal and illegal adsense, there is social media. Not only advertisements that bring us to gambling, social media will also have an effect on someone who initially wants to stop gambling, returns to gambling. People around (friends, family, or stranger), there must be someone who will talk about gambling, things like this can make people who want to stop gambling getting fail too. The only thing is by consistency the desire to stop with the action/self control like you say. If there is consistency to lead the mind not to gamble, then no matter what he sees or hear, it will never be able to get him to gamble again. That's the key.

You just have to expect it, gambling casinos can spend millions just to advertise their casinos on just about everywhere, if you just promised that you will stop, you will be back to gambling once you see the casino that you're playing flashing that anniversary bonus and waiting to be claimed once you log in, if you're serious about quiting gambling those ads and those bonus flashing will not get into your mind but to be able to do that you need to be in a theraphy, not just mere words that you are going to stop.

going online and seeing Ads of different kinds from different casinos, would this Ads lure the gambler back into gambling notwithstanding that he or she is trying to stop ?

Before you can come across ads you must have something in your mind already running with the approach you have towards gambling, it's not easily achieved like that getting influenced just by a rare ads you come across, if the person involved is not a gambler frombthe start and does not like anything that jas to do with gambling or sports then seeing ars millions time will not move them except if the user already is contemplating on weather to gamble or not before coming across the ads, another scenario is for quitting gambling, I did not admit that ads can in any way influence someone from not gambling anymore especially when we are talking about the chronic and addicted gamblers, consider that some gamblers have been engaged on several occasions by people to stop gambling in which they didn't, how much more coming across ads to stop them from the addiction.

I was just reading some articles on the web and upon every scroll, there was this gambling ad belonging to a casino that just displays, sometimes even covering parts of the text of the article i was reading, then at some point, i began to imagine myself as a gambling addict who is struggling to quit or reduce my gambling habit, and going online and seeing Ads of different kinds from different casinos, would this Ads lure the gambler back into gambling notwithstanding that he or she is trying to stop ?
maybe, I mean ads are one of the reasons why some people become interested in something and want to try it out, I don't see why some addicted gamblers wouldn't feel the same way.

If this continues to happen again and again, do you think such a person will ever leave such a habit?
maybe, different people react differently to ads. some gamblers might get tempt and some might not.

And another question is, if you are addicted to gambling and wants to quit but discovers that seeing gambling Ads on the internet is one of the triggers that lures you into gambling again, is it possible for you to stay away from the internet until you are sure you've completely healed from that addiction?
personally, I'd probably have a hard time avoiding going online if I have nothing else to do, but if I am busy and almost always occupied I'd probably be able to avoid going online until I am able to control myself.

A gambler who is really committed to a change won't be highly affected by gambling ads and advertisements no matter how big the bonuses and promotions are. We all know that gambling sites will always create ads that will target and attract players so it takes a lot of courage for a person who wants to quit to ignore it.
Gambling addiction could not be healed in just a short period so if avoiding the internet will help, a person must try to get rid of it while he's in the process of recovering. Temptations are all around the internet so I think it's a wise move to stay away from it for a while to make the recovery process easier, it would be better for a gambler to focus on other activities to get rid of gambling thoughts.

would this Ads lure the gambler back into gambling notwithstanding that he or she is trying to stop ?
surely gambling addicts will return to gambling after seeing advertisements circulating in several places or on certain websites. Although the gambler wants to try to stop gambling for a while but when he opens a website or reads an article and sees a gambling advertisement, the gambler will indirectly be lured to play gambling again. because it is very difficult for gambling addicts when they want to stop betting without having strong guidelines not to return to gambling

I personally liken this to some one who is addicted to porn and masturbation, and really wants to stops, but just by scrolling the pages of his Facebook or Instagram account and saw some naked women, which triggers the urge to do it again at that time. Grin
this is one example that is easy to understand.

If this continues to happen again and again, do you think such a person will ever leave such a habit?
Maybe yes maybe no. A person will leave a bad habit when he (gambler) has a stand and is able to refrain from repeating the bad habit in any way or stay away from anything that has the potential to make him repeat the bad habit.

And another question is, if you are addicted to gambling and wants to quit but discovers that seeing gambling Ads on the internet is one of the triggers that lures you into gambling again, is it possible for you to stay away from the internet until you are sure you've completely healed from that addiction?
If I am a gambling addict and want to stop betting on gambling, I will do everything I can to avoid anything that could lure me back into gambling. And if one of the best ways to stop gambling was to stay away from the internet, I would.

And in conclusion all these are strong factors to stay away from all triggers related to gambling.

You are probably reading news/articles from "spam" sites that usually recycle/steal contents from other websites and post it as their own. They fill those sites with advertisements. A legit or well reputed site won't cover their contents with advertisements and they have standards. And you should start using ad blockers. They were made specially for sites like those that have annoying ads.

And another question is, if you are addicted to gambling and wants to quit but discovers that seeing gambling Ads on the internet is one of the triggers that lures you into gambling again, is it possible for you to stay away from the internet until you are sure you've completely healed from that addiction?
Simple solution. Use adblockers. Visit sites that are non gambling related. You don't have to stay away from the computer.

You are right!

You could eventually quit if you wanted too and we know that self discipline and dedication level on each person is entirely different which means that there might be people who do fail on quitting on seeing these

ads but there are people who could eventually quit and stop directly if they do told theirselves on doing so.If you want to quit gambling then it would really be just common that you should really make yourself

avoid those ads as much as you could. When someone had already been addicted on gambling then it would really be that normal that resisting on playing gambling is hard when you do
see advertisements.

Simple solution. Use adblockers. Visit sites that are non gambling related. You don't have to stay away from the computer.

And as far as I know, those spam gambling ads that consume space noticeably on a certain website are not that site that a user can encounter every day. Usually, those gambling ads can just be seen on gambling-related websites and I think a person that trying to recover from gambling addiction will not think of visiting those sites.

Even social media that has lots of gambling-related posts, doesn't have an annoying gambling ad that popped out everywhere, and sometimes those ads are not even noticeable. We just have to trust these persons who deal with gambling problems that soon, they can cope with their problems.

If we ban gambling adds because gamblers might see it and feel the need to gamble maybe we should ban models in swimsuits because sex addicts might feel the need to masturbate. Or let's ban food pictures because people with eating disorders will have a hard time.

Your addiction is yours to fight and control. You can't expect the whole world to help you with it. Don't ant to see ads? Lock yourself in a room and don't come out until you're healed.
