People say lots of things about how important bitcoin could be to the society we have right now, some say the coin offers variety from usage against fiat currency, some say anonymity, some say because it offers profit. But at the end of the day I think these benefits wouldn't be realized if adoption isn't made. As of now the world could easily go on without bitcoin and cryptocurrencies for that matter, because people do not have it in their safekeeping. What will drive importance to people is a universal importance that will have them want to earn bitcoin and hold them for a long time. Other than its potential for exponential price growth however there is none thus far that could offer such importance. So until then, bitcoin will remain like this.

For those society who take advantage of Bitcoin and its technology, Bitcoin will be important because of the several opportunities it can give.  It can open up a new company that will take advantage of Bitcoin potentials, a possible job opening if these start-up company starts hiring employee.  Bitcoin will also help in tax revenue since these company have to pay for their tax, same goes with the employee.

But for those society who ignore Bitcoin, I believe Bitcoin isn't important to them because they are able to continue their living even without Bitcoin.

Having 0.001 cent in fee for million dollar transaction is extraordinary but bitcoin seems evolved from the tool of payments into something like gold as we might now the bitcoin transaction fee are getting high and makes no sense , that's why we choose altcoin at somepoint.

Not only Bitcoin but blockchain technology is beneficial for society. The biggest problem in underdeveloped countries is corruption and if we store data using blockchain technology there will be no or very little chance of corruption.

As a society, we are free to follow or not follow all current developments, including cryptocurrency.
But we cannot impose our thoughts that cryptocurrencies are important to everyone in our environment and the general public.

Bitcoin is a tool that have made many people rich. Majority doesn't care about the technology that have made it successful.
Once it was affordable for all levels of people. Now with the growth things have reached high. At times it looks like rich people's money.

You asked a q in the title, the post itself has no question, so I'll just answer the q in title.
Whenever I talk about BTC, telling people to buy and invest for their future, all I hear from them: it's too risky, too unstable, tha's the opinion of most of the people.

What the societies really need is a robust, reliable, fast and easy to use crypto.
Imagine a mass adoption of BTC, can the ordinary people afford to pay for eg. 10 bucks fee for a 20 bucks purchase?
If the answer is no, then BTC is not for mass adoption and the ordinary joe.

Can we use it as a store of value? Well with this market which is more like a rollercoaster than a financial market, the answer is no.

Can we use it as investment for the future? Answer is yes.

Can we use it to circumvent sanctions imposed by super powers? Again the answer is yes.

However with the super rich whales and goverments hoarding BTC, can't see much benefit going to the "Society".
