I also think that Reddit would be more like to be bought by Elon Musk than this forum.  Aside from that, Elon wanted to acquire a platform where he can generate profit.  Like when he acquire Twitter, he highlighted the tweeter blue subscription to milk the Twitter user as soon as he get control of the company.  Profit-wise, even though the forum is one of the best sources of information and discussion about cryptocurrency, the site's income generation isn't as huge as other social media platforms.  And if ever he got interested and had funds to buy the forum, it is still at theymos' discretion if he will allow Elon to acquire the forum.

Because bitcointalk is not a fancy platform to build connections and shill your posts to walls, notifications of other users who are in or not in your connection/ friend/ follower list.

It is different than social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter when your notifications will be spammed with many statuses and tweets from others.

Bitcointalk is more of a tavern or a guild where bitcoin enthusiasts and cryptocurrency believers alike come together for the exchange of ideas and opinions on matters that concern the cryptocurrency world. No way Elon's looking at this forum and saying "wow this is a profitable venture, I wanna look at buying it". And even if he does show interest, idk if he could rightfully own a decentralized forum like this.

Yeah, I've got the impression over the years that theymos doesn't exactly care about much the forum is worth, but does care about the community, and how the forum is operating. Which is absolutely refreshing to see. I wouldn't think he'd sell it to anyone, and honestly considering how careful, and thoughtful decisions have been made, at least for the majority of the cases over the years, I wouldn't want it to go to someone that's buying it.

I believe theymos is relatively young, and doesn't seem to be a one to just go, and convert back to fiat. So, I'm pleased to think we'll likely be stuck with theymos for a while. Let just pray and believe that such an idea doesn't hit Elon's head. That guy doesn't take this world serious. He is so fun and a cruise master, he once said that he doesn't want to be rich, but he wants to be able to buy whatever thing he wishes to buy in life. If Elon attention is fully drawn into crypto and he wishes to control the crypto world, here could be the first place to start, having known that Satoshi originated here.

But I don't know how rich is theymos,  if he will be able to resist any payment ranging in billion dollars. But I am sure theymos will chose to defend Satoshi's idea of decentralization and not sell the forum.

Probably, even Elon will not agree on it. He will only buy a thing if it will be an asset to his own business, so I don’t think he will give a chance to try buying this forum. Also, the goal of this forum is not be taken advantage of a single person, but to give equal advantages to all the people. So definitely, bitcointalk is not in align with Elon’s goal.

Most probably, the forum members are also not comfortable with Elon replacing Satoshi. Elon has established different goals from Satoshi, so definitely the invention of Satoshi will also not of high interest to Elon. Elon Musk might be the riches person but purchasing Twitter for $44 billion was a blunder and these social media platforms always leaks money because in the past two decades, how many social media platforms came and died along the way and even the richest person wont be having that much liquid money to play around as many people invested in the platform when Elon took over.

Well written. What comes to my mind right now: Each posting of a member is like a transaction in the blockchain. Sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller, and a thread is like a block. One difference, postings can be deleted. And who are the miners?

He's an incredible businessman, despite what users here might think of it, especially since he's in the limelight for Twitter right now. However, he's proven multiple times how good he's at making money. This forum is no different, if it was in the wrong hands, this place could be exploited hugely for generating revenue. Thankfully, we aren't subject to that, and it seems all decisions are considered carefully even when it comes to finances.

You don't hear of a forum or business if you want to call it that, opting to operate at a loss, because of the issue with advertisers, and not being able to verify whether they're safe or not. Which, is effectively what theymos has opted to do recently with the ad auctions being stopped. Alright, we have a big reserve, and if it depleted so much we didn't have anything, I'm sure it would be introduced.
