Tank struggles to beat Hector IMO. It's quite unusual to see a Mexican who we always admire having the will of a warrior yet ready to quit the fight. Hector did good utilizing his reach and punch backs. He wasn't knocked out, he was hit but not really wobbling going to his corner. In my gut, it's rigged as it is. Anyway, I didn't bet and this is not after all the main menu since the real fight is Ryan vs Tank.
It was an intermediate fight, before the fight with Garcia, which everyone has been waiting for so long, so the outcome was largely predictable. The Tank was not as good as I expected, recently quite a few problems have fallen on it and it is clear that this has affected its condition. In general, the fight was difficult, but Tank proved his superiority, Hector simply refused to continue the fight after the eighth round. Perhaps this is a little unexpected, but he said that he began to see badly and he had a severe headache, this is not a joke. I saw The tank getting hit real hard there. Hector Garcia had good counters and clean punches that launched on Davis face, if the guys is has a heavier punches I think Davis would have been floored with those punches. As expected Davis won the fight, but he isn't slick as his earlier fights. He even often leave himself open which Garcia took advantage of. Davis looks like a bit slow here but probably it is because of the recent issues he had that disrupt his training and focus. If he will play like this when he face Ryan Garcia, I am afraid Davis will kiss the floor. Hopefully, his performance will improve on his next fight.

Everyone is talking about Tank Davis, however, it appears that much of us fans of boxing in the forum did not notice a very important fight for the IBF welterweight division. This is Boots Ennis vs. Karen Chukhadzhyan for the IBF interim welterweight championship.
Why the interim welterweight championship for IBF? This is because Errol Spence cannot make a mandatory defense for his IBF championship because he has another mandatory defense for his WBC championship. The IBF is also very strict and force Errol Spence to make his next mandatory defense against Boots Ennis or give the championship to Ennis.
I am very excited for this because I have told everyone many times that Boots Ennis is the boxer who can win against the kings of welterweight, Spence and Crawford.
In any case, my prediction is Boots will knockout Karen in round 1.
That's what they say, Boots is feared by many in the division. High risk for Karen. Boots stepping up against Spence or Crawford will be a bigger fight, but he can't be that comfortable at 147 against the top contender may at 154. There is just no offer for money to make but I think he'll get there after Ortiz. This is not the highlight because Tank is the main event. Too late to create a thread. I am not quite certain why anyone would consider if Chukhadzhyan is high risk or not because he is certainly a type of opponent who is below Boots' previous 2 opponents. He might also not be the main event, however, I reckon that he might give a better show than Tank Davis hehe. I speculate Hector Garcia might make it difficult for Davis and this fight might end with a decision. My bet is over 7.5 rounds. It was Davis who win, Garcia didn't make it to the 8th rounds as he complain that he can't see. By the time of the stoppage, he was behind the scorecard of the 3 judges, so this win setup Davis for a Ryan Garcia fight sometime in the next couple of months. In the Ennis vs Chukhadzhyan the outcome was not surprising, although Chukhadzhyan extended Ennis the full distance for the first time in his career. So no statement win for him. Nevertheless a win is a win. It was the 9th round. The official time was it had 13 seconds in round 9 before it was stopped. I have won my bet on over 7.5 rounds. I am not quite certain why Hector Garcia's team stopped the fight. He did not appear to be tired although he appeared affected by the last punches from Tank in round 8, however, I do not reckon it was enough to stop the fight. Boots Ennis won but agreed, it was a no statement win. He also does not deserve to fight Errol Spence after a weak performance.

Tank landed heavy shots to his open head causing Garcia to lose vision. Garcia complained that he couldn't see anymore. I think it was a good decision for Hector. He could have pushed through with the fight but he would only be punished more. Tank gets more explosive as the rounds get by. Congratulations for your win.

I don't think it was rigged. Although Hector was wise enough to use his reach advantage early in the rounds, he was quite open for Tank's hard punches. It didn't look good. It was a good win for Davis because he will be fully confident to fight Garcia in April without worrying about any injury whatsoever. That would be a candidate for a fight of the year award if they don't really just consider running in the ring throughout the rounds because they are superpower puncher and has been knocking out their opponent lately. Unquestionably that one of them will go down and will never gonna recover after taking some power punches from his opponent.

And he fought at about 130-pounds, which helped him win a lot . And he has many fighting techniques and he is a very talented boxer, he knows very well how to attack his opponent to win. So he easily won that boxing match. The match was great

Yes, Hector gave Tank a run for his money. He gave a good fight. Credits to him even if he lost the fight. But Hector Garcia is not a Mexican. He is from Dominican Republic. He was an Olympian representing Dominican Republic. I don't think it was rigged. Although Hector was wise enough to use his reach advantage early in the rounds, he was quite open for Tank's hard punches. It didn't look good. It was just a matter of time before Tank would land a punch that would really hurt him so much. Tank could actually knock you out not just in early rounds but also in later rounds. I thought he is Mexican as Ryan always wants to associate with. Hector Garcia asked his team to stop the bout in 9th round. So they know if he quits Garcia will lose, afaik it's going to be called disqualification but of course, they will just say stoppage. This damages Hector's reputation and will more than likely find it difficult to secure future fights, that's the risk he took for the stoppage.

Or his future will be dimmer if he will not be able to fight again because he forces himself to continue despite the injury he already committed. Just look at Margarito, he fought Pacman and his eyes were injured by the punches of Pacman, but because of his pride, he still continue fighting, and look what happen after that fight. You need to be brave in boxing but most importantly you need to be smart, and that includes knowing how to accept your defeat, as there's always time to come back.

He said he can't see so that's it, he quit because the punch really hurt him to the point wherein it's bothering him and he might take more damage from the eye if he didn't quit or the corner didn't stop him. And Garcia has no power to damage Tank, yes he has a good timing, but Tank timing is really good that he was a able to dodge some shots and if he was hit, it doesn't have that effect to his chin. Although in the post fight press conference, you can clearly see some redness and scratch in his face.

When the problem is the eyes, that's a serious problem as your opponent will just simply focus on hitting your injury. That's a good idea to stop the fight, he doesn't need to be stupid and play with his pride, this is boxing, it's a physical sport, so the boxer has to protect himself at all times, including giving up when necessary.

Yup, when he said to his corner that he can't see, the fight was over. His spirit left him when he was hit by those power punches late in round 8 and I'm impressed with his toughness that he still stood up despite absorbing those punches. For me stopping or not continuing is the way to go to prevent further damage to Hector Garcia, he can still fight as he is tough and I don't see any reason that promoters will throw him away because of not continuing to fight.

That was a big lesson he will never forget, he will certainly think that he needs to train harder once his body will be able to recover already. Davis is a champion for a reason and judging by his KO rate, you can really tell how dangerous he is, so since Hector Garcia does not have the power to KO Davis, he should have played it smart, he needs to use his quickness but since he does not have that, maybe that's what he needs to develop if his punching power cannot be develop anymore.

I think it's part team, part him as his answers to the questions of the team were not right. Then he told them he cannot see. They might have also realized something is wrong before they all decided he cannot continue. Here it focused on how important having a corner coach is because if those things didn't happen Garcia will be fighting blind which could lead to a worst situation that might end his career. Thumbs up to his team for taking the time to ask him very important questions and calling the doctor afterward. Surrender is better than being unable to fight in the future. @bbc.reporter Congratulations. I only took the bet to end until round 6, didn't win any.

Perhaps Tank approached this fight a little lightly, perhaps there was an underestimation of the opponent, but he was able to win. The fight was not easy, both fighters dealt good blows, but everything ended predictably, Tank finished this fight ahead of schedule. Tank is leading in the scorecard anyway I have seen those punches land very hard on Garcia's face and I thought it was the end of it because Tank is pressing the attack until Garcia was saved by the bell, the boxer's condition is the most important and yeah it's serious when he cannot see clearly because he can be subjected to severe punishment, its right on Hector's corner to stop the fight, Tank was overwhelmed by Garcia's jab and he has a hard time adjusting, but a win is still a win so in April if things run smoothly we'll see Ryan Garcia facing Tank Davis.
Yes, Hector also had good moments, but they were few and the punches were not strong enough to discourage the Tank. In general, Hector was weaker, and we were told the reason why he did not go to the 9th round, but who knows if this is actually true, perhaps Hector realized that he did not have the strength left to resist the Tank in the remaining rounds. Perhaps he really had problems with his eyesight, but in any case, these were the consequences of Tank's strong blows.

It wasn't the team of Hector Garcia that actually stopped the fight. It was Hector Garcia himself who quit and told his corner to stop the fight. Round 8 was really terrible for him. I see, I wasn't aware that it was the case why the fight has stopped and declared TKO in favor of Tank Davis. That said, calling and stopping the fight much earlier is the right thing to do because an eye problem is indeed a serious one, if he didn't played it cleverly, he could lose his eye and so does his career afterwards. Garcia still have a bright future, getting defeated against Davis is not yet his dead end. He can always come back with an experience.

Boots Ennis won but agreed, it was a no statement win. He also does not deserve to fight Errol Spence after a weak performance. Yes, there is no statement win, but I think they can't do anything about it since Karen doesn't want to engage Boots. It's like Casimero vs Rigo, the power puncher chase the other boxer all night long. On the contrary, it might be good for Ennis to be tested a full 12 rounds, his stamina and perseverance are tested in. And maybe there are fighters that are now willing to fight him because they know they can last against his power puncher.

Yes, this is also similar to Pacquiao vs Dela Hoya, I mean Nacho is asking of Oscar wanted to continue, he didn't respond, but as the trainer and corner of Oscar, he called it and Oscar didn't question the decision of his head trainer. So yes, it is very important that they are really aware when to stop the fight as not to damage their fighter any longer. Again, we can go back to the Margarito vs Pacquiao fight, wherein Robert Garcia should have stop it and it did a permanent damage on Margarito's eye. Broken orbital bone and eye socket that can't be repaired and it ended his career.

Indeed Hector Garcia did not stand up after the bell for 9th round sound, then the referee check Garcia's fight and told them that Garcia could not continue because Garcia couldn't see. It was the referee who stopped the fight at the request of Garcia's team due to Garcia complained he can't see. Round 8 is pretty much an exchange of punches until Davis hit Garcia with a good punch which makes the latter almost knocked down. I think it was a good decision for Hector. He could have pushed through with the fight but he would only be punished more. Tank gets more explosive as the rounds get by.
It is indeed a good decision since who knows how the damage will extend if Garcia pushes to continue. Safety first, better to secure the condition of your body than secure the title of the fight. Again, we can go back to the Margarito vs Pacquiao fight, wherein Robert Garcia should have stop it and it did a permanent damage on Margarito's eye. Broken orbital bone and eye socket that can't be repaired and it ended his career.
Can't physician signal the referee to have the boxer checked? It is irresponsible for the referee to not notice the damage, ring physician should have stepped in at least.

There's no reason to disqualify anybody. There was no violation from either of them. The choice to continue to fight or not is always part of the fighter and the team's decision. And it was the decision both the fighter and his corner took. I think Hector was groggy, having difficulty seeing, and light-headed. It was better quitting than forcing to continue even if he and his team know that he is not fit to fight anymore. He already suffered a lot. Anyway this is his first loss and in the hands of a deserving opponent.
