I thought this fight will already be against Ryan Garcia but it looks like a different Garcia anyway.
This could be a great tune up match for Davis, and reading some news as well about a case against him probably that could also affect his future fights. Looking at Luis Garcia, looks like he is not an easy opponent at all so this could be crucial for Davis. Less than 2 months left to prepare, hope they can both make it. This could be a unanimous win for Davis.

Checking his fights he is not a threat only Colbert is the top or elite fighter that has faced but he is good but Rolly Romero is better than Hector Luis, since Tank is scheduled to fight, Ryan Garcia could also pick a cherry-picked fight as a tune fight for their supposed May encounter which I doubt will materialized given the time gap for Tank's preparation, both Ryan and Tank made a deal to fight in 2023 hopefully they honor it and don't make it turn out like a Spence - Crawford fiasco.

of course i believe as well because it's not surprising if tank will gain the vote for this fight since he is one of the best fighter on the division and i believe this will be the scary fight for hector. Might not be an easy work for Tank but if he scores a KO then it will just prop up people's interest in his bout against another Garcia. This fight is still classified as speculation or an improved rumored fight even if they already said that there's an agreement for a catchweight bout because the final details on its whereabouts is not out yet, there are some reports that this fight will take place in Las Vegas somewhere in the month of April but like as you said, that is not yet final as long as both camps is not yet signing any contracts.

Also, what I'm curious about is why do they need any tune-up fights if they can always go head-to-head directly and make the schedule much earlier than what was reported. Now this is a tune up fight. I think it's just right for Davis to prepare against Ryan with an undefeated fighter, although I don't think this Hector Luis has the same boxing pedigree with the two. I haven't seen this man fight. But it seems he's a decent fighter, defeating a couple of other fighters with win streaks within this year alone. But, of course, he's not on Gervonta's level. He doesn't have the power either. This is still Gervonta's fight, although it should be an honor for Hector Luis to be finally facing someone like Gervonta.

Obviously, Hector Luis Garcia is a decent boxer, having an undefeated record in his 16 fight with 10 KO's.  Not as explosive as Davis but I think the fight is quite decent.  It looks like another unblemished record to be broken again by Davis.  I also agree that this is a great boost to Hector Luis profile especially if he won this fight.(which is highly unlikely)

All this time I thought Gervonta Davis would fight Ryan Garcia directly. I think that was the original plan but it was moved to a much later date next year. That's what I'm thinking as well but we cannot really blame them if they wouldn't believe this fight for now because they have just witnessed a long-awaited fight that fell into pieces just because of the politics in this industry. Not sure why the fight hasn't materialized but I think it's already crystal clear what might be the reasons.

Most likely the result is almost guaranteed because they will not cherry-pick an opponent if they don't think they can dominate in the fight. With Davis being one of the best boxers now, this would be easy for him, it's always a tune-up fight before the big fight which he was still the favorite to win.

Well, Garcia could be the underdog here which I think everyone will agree. But mind you, Hector Garcia could also be a dangerous opponent too knowing he’s a world Olympian and a world champion so probably he has also the skills of a good boxer. Gervonta Davis has 92,59% knock out rate and he's fight with Luis Garcia which is a cherry picket opponent, how can anyone doesn't think Gervonta wouldn't win via knock out in this match? it would be different if he's fight with a champion or someone that hasn't been defeated e.g. Ryan Garcia.

From what I understand on his posts, it seems that  it is not true and there are individuals who wanted money from him obviously as they know that Tank could have millions in his bank account and so this individuals wanted to take a part of it, easy money for them, and it's like black mailing him. He is a professional in the first place, for sure he encountered such thing before regarding negativities around him especially during his amateur era, so I think this won't slow him down.

On my end, I have a high belief that Davis would 'own' this fight. Big respect to Hector but Davis quite grew 'bigger' as a boxer over his undefeated record. As I have watched his previous fights, his punches are becoming more accurate not to mention his endurance which might be because of his strengthening routines(he's more buffed at the present). So for me, he's ready for the date. Hector for sure has the potential but I just think this would be too much for him.

Garcia on the other hand got greedy in the 7th and 8th rounds. He tried to do dirty boxing and keep the fight close which was taken advantage of by Davis. Big mistake from Garcia there, he was actually giving the Tank a difficult time and he might've even won it if the fight ended in a UD.

I saw The tank getting hit real hard there.  Hector Garcia had good counters and clean punches that launched on Davis face, if the guys is has a heavier punches I think Davis would have been floored with those punches.

This is because Errol Spence cannot make a mandatory defense for his IBF championship because he has another mandatory defense for his WBC championship. I think it's part team, part him as his answers to the questions of the team were not right. Then he told them he cannot see. They might have also realized something is wrong before they all decided he cannot continue.
Here it focused on how important having a corner coach is because if those things didn't happen Garcia will be fighting blind which could lead to a worst situation that might end his career.

That's what they say, Boots is feared by many in the division. High risk for Karen. Indeed Hector Garcia did not stand up after the bell for 9th round sound, then the referee check Garcia's fight and told them that Garcia could not continue because Garcia couldn't see.  It was the referee who stopped the fight at the request of Garcia's team due to Garcia complained he can't see.  Round 8 is pretty much an exchange of punches until Davis hit Garcia with a good punch which makes the latter almost knocked down.

Tank struggles to beat Hector IMO. It's quite unusual to see a Mexican who we always admire having the will of a warrior yet ready to quit the fight. Hector did good utilizing his reach and punch backs. He wasn't knocked out, he was hit but not really wobbling going to his corner. In my gut, it's rigged as it is. Anyway, I didn't bet and this is not after all the main menu since the real fight is Ryan vs Tank.

Yes, Hector gave Tank a run for his money. He gave a good fight. Credits to him even if he lost the fight. But Hector Garcia is not a Mexican. He is from Dominican Republic. He was an Olympian representing Dominican Republic.

I don't think it was rigged. Although Hector was wise enough to use his reach advantage early in the rounds, he was quite open for Tank's hard punches. It didn't look good. It was just a matter of time before Tank would land a punch that would really hurt him so much. Tank could actually knock you out not just in early rounds but also in later rounds.

There's no reason to disqualify anybody. There was no violation from either of them. The choice to continue to fight or not is always part of the fighter and the team's decision. And it was the decision both the fighter and his corner took. I think Hector was groggy, having difficulty seeing, and light-headed. It was better quitting than forcing to continue even if he and his team know that he is not fit to fight anymore. He already suffered a lot. Anyway this is his first loss and in the hands of a deserving opponent.

Nope it's technical knockout since Tank doesn't did any intentional foul, Tank was doing a fair blow since he only punch Garcia body and face, not the back head or did headbutt. If Garcia didn't ask to stop on the 9th round, then high likely he will get knocked out on 10th or 11th round.

It should not go that far even if their boxer is still able to fight. One more hit to his eye and it's not just a career-ender but also an eye-blinder event which I don't think he will be happy about.
IMO, it's not a disgrace to surrender but those who can do it are brave enough to admit their defeat.
What Garcia did and his team is the right choice as he still has a title to defend in his next fight with the Super Featherweight title on his waist.

Wait, can Spence really do that? Because as far as I know, it's the WBO who actually ordered the fight and Spence has no belts in super-welter nor did the WBO ordered for a bout in that weight class to make them a mandatory challenger against Jermell Charlo.
