Are you comparing Bitcoin to altcoins? If so, you are comparing apples to oranges. Bitcoin is not in competition with any other cryptocurrency in the same way that a BMW is not in competition with a Hyundai. Sure, they are both cars, but they serve different purposes.

Bitcoin stands alone as the original, first-ever cryptocurrency and will likely be used as a means of exchange for many years to come. While there are many altcoins out there today, none of them can compare to Bitcoin in terms of size and scope, let alone its security.

With a hunday you can at least drive somewhere. Try to pay with some shit alt coin somewhere. It will be impossible since 99% serve no purpose other than trying to scam people that have no clue and are greedy.

That's the thought that I've got before which I've seen from the others that they've said that they'll take altcoin because of the quantity that you'll get.
Because getting a bitcoin is more expensive and you'll just get a few decimals on it. I get where they're taking those words but it doesn't make sense, it's still bitcoin as the most recommended crypto to own. It's like comparing and saying that people will take bronze because it's cheaper than gold.

Bitcoin for a higher chance of earning profit when bullish trend occur and altcoin on the other hand for a higher rate of increase as well as profit but is more risky as an investment. I do prefer going with altcoin investment simply because it would require me less amount to invest, even if it is more risky, but allows me to diversify my capital in different assets than to just let my investment sleep with bitcoin.

No competition indeed. It is just a matter of an investor having his own preferences of where to engage his/her money with. No matter what you choose, there will always be an involved risk because all cryptocurrencies has volatile market value. Well in comparison, Bitcoin and alts might be different with utility aspects wherein Bitcoin is for daily transactions and alts are solely for projects (mostly) although some are also for transactions.

Bitcoin is a Bitcoin and altcoins is an altcoins, so you can't compare altcoins with Bitcoin because it has it own technology, theirs no altcoins that will be stronger as Bitcoin, if i should have money to invest right now, i will not hesitate to invest in Bitcoin, knowing that it's technology is very strong and supportive.

according to my experience, it is better to have bitcoin even less than 1 bitcoin. because in my opinion it is better to invest in bitcoin. because in bitcoin it is certainly safer, indeed when viewed in terms of profits it is more profitable from altcoins than bitcoin. it's just that if you experience a loss, the impact will drain a lot of our money. so if I personally prefer bitcoin to be used as an asset and investment.

There is nothing easier and more ungrateful than giving advice. Especially financial and investment. Between bitcoin and altcoin I would choose btc to recommend to someone for investment. This is because the belief of the crypto community in bitcoin is much higher than any altcoin, which means there is less risk of screw up. Let it be a small part, but bitcoin than the whole altcoin.

The thinking is "it's better to own 1 thing than a fraction of another, it's a psychological
thing but it doesn't make sense.

Anyone who has been in this space will know that altcoins come and go and many people
have gotten burned by them. Take almost all of the "Top 10" altcoins on coinmarketcap,
in about 12 months they will be replaced by new "flavours of the month" it's all speculation.

I don't normally give financial advice to anyone, but if I had to, I would advise anyone to buy bitcoin even if it costs more now, simply because it's safe and they are newbies. I don't hate investing in altcoins but for newbies they should stay away from altcoins, they can invest in it when they have enough knowledge of the market as well as the ability to take responsibility for their own investment. Advising someone to invest in altcoins is like putting pressure on yourself, it's not a wise choice.

Yeah, those are the measurements that we've got in buying bitcoin and someone can use that as he accumulates bitcoin. And while the comparison I've made for bronze and gold. It's just all about buying about which is more expensive and cheaper.
As for buying gold, those that are relying on it as their main asset, they also accumulate just as how we're accumulating bitcoin. So, for the thing about bitcoin and altcoin, there could be some exception for those that have been taking alts but not all of them should be taken because you're unsure with the future of the others.

In my humble opinion, nobody should buy a coin simply because it is cheap and you can buy as many of it as possible, buying as many of a coin as possible does not mean that coin has any value, or that there is growth and development in their network. Altcoins are known for pumping and then dumping, buying them is very risky, they do not have utility and it is very difficult to find any good one. Btc has a good community, and a fixed supply with strong demand for it, BTC also has utility, it cannot fail the way altcoins do. As an investor the safety of your money is paramount, in the crypto network your money is safe with BTC, and you can use dca to grow your portfolio, having one sure investment with BTC is better than gambling with many altcoins because you simply can buy as many of them as you like, you may be a bagholder in the long run.

I know many user missed the main point here about the reason for comparison but simply OP is not asking for technicality difference between Bitcoin and Altcoin but simply just the size difference of the two subject with same value in fiat. To make it simple; X amount of Altcoins = Y Amount of Bitcoin.

For me the quantity only matter if the total supply is the same. It’s pointless to compared whole quantity of altcoins to decimal amount of Bitcoin even though they have same fiat value if the difference on the total supply is too high. I only recommend to purchase it if the Altcoins supply is close to Bitcoin Supply and has the characteristics that you mention since that project is probably undervalued.

When you buy any property or something, you need to look at its quality not quantity, more quantity doesn't mean it will bring you more value. bitcoin and altcoins too, there can still be many useful altcoins but for comparison there aren't any comparable altcoins to bitcoin at the moment. It's also important that once you've decided that giving someone advice means they're trusting you, you should give them the best advice as well and in this market bitcoin is number one.

It depends on the altcoin because it can be difficult to find the right altcoin with so many altcoins on the market. We can say to buy ETH, BNB, or other altcoins but when the price of bitcoin falls too deep, this altcoin will surely fall even deeper than the price you bought before.

I suggest that person buy some bitcoins and accumulate them according to the amount of money he wants to invest in crypto. I'd rather have bitcoins that will increase than invest in altcoins because the selection of altcoins will make us confused.

Does it's really matter with the value you will got? actually the reason you invest on an asset is you're trusting the asset, not the best value you will get. Let's say you have $8500 in your hands and want to buy cryptocurrency, are you prefer to get 10,000,000 shitcoins that will scam in the next month or you will get 0.5 BTC that the price will increase to $100,000/BTC in the next few years?

As I think, if you want to be millions, than altcoin is a good investment than btc. If you want a good profit than invest in btc. Few coins like shib inu, cec, btt, hot, doge, xlm is good sign after few years.

There are no such things as an altcoin with strong community or a good altcoin. There are only more hyped up altcoins with better pumping teams and unpumped altcoins with no pumping teams.

To answer your question it depends on what you aim to do.
For a long term solid investment in something that has real potential and for you to not have nightmares every day about where is the shitcoin you bought going or when it will die, the only option is bitcoin. Just buy it and get it over with.

If you want to take bigger risks and you can get involved in the market to do quick trades for quick profits then any altcoin would do as long as you can figure out the pumping signs and are good at jumping off the ship before they start dumping that altcoin.

Without a second thought, Bitcoins will be more appropriate. The reason for which I am supporting Bitcoins over any other coin is that, due to it’s marketcap. Altcoin concepts are derived from Bitcoins. This proves Bitcoin’s popularity among the people. Due to high popularity and marketcap, Bitcoins will definitely rise in the future in order to meet the demand of the coin. So now OP you think what should you buy? I don't think they will be equally profitable, in the long run I still consider bitcoin much better and safer than altcoins. In addition, for altcoins we don't have too many options as you say, if you say there is potential, only ETH is worth investing in, all other altcoins are no different from gambling, look at Luna and FTT.

Not even the top and oldest altcoins can guarantee, in 2018 those who believe in investing in LTC are also top altcoins in the market but then what? so far its not dead but not once back to old ATH if they invested in bitcoin they have made a huge profit.

When you say one good altcoins which altcoins are you calling good exactly? They're all the same, neither of the altcoins can be classified as good as no matter how good you think they're and strong community backing, they might have, they can still go in the path of Luna and FTX and crashed but Bitcoin can't. Altcoins are centralized and have a centralized figure that the success of the project is tied to the founders or influencers of the coin. You don't even have to own one Bitcoin, just buy Satoshi and hodl in your wallet.
Bitcoin is superior to all the altcoins in existence so they can never be a better choice above Bitcoin when it comes to investing in cryptocurency. Altcoins lose value over time and even though the coin is trading at a higher price than your buy price, the coin might still be losing when comparing the Bitcoin trading value.
