Not too quite long I had a section in my home where I had to discuss with some of my neighbors about cryptocurrency/bitcoin and to an extent explained to them how the industry operates and the benefits it can offer. But this is not the actual point of my discussion anyway.
The thing here is that one of the person's I had that round table discussion with was to my oblivion doing  some personal research privately about bitcoin based on all she has been told about it for the past many days after that very discussion. And so yesterday she came to me asking that I should assist her in purchasing bitcoin worth about $160 as she is avoiding on making mistake by doing it by herself alone since it's her first time. After every process and the said amount of bitcoin was purchased successfully into her account, immediately there was this expression of the feeling of joy the lady expressed with a wide smiles that seem unending and I was amazed at such level of excitement she showed.

Then after she left, I started asking myself, like did I also acted same way when I first got my own bitcoin or is the lady just been overwhelmed knowing she now own a certain amount of bitcoin or am I missing something as to why she reacted the way she did?

the first time i had bitcoin, i was happy because. I have valuable assets, even though at that time I bought them with very small amounts of money, around 100 dollars. and the reason that makes me happier is because I feel like I have savings, what is very unique is that the amount of money in bitcoin every day always fluctuates, so even if it goes down it doesn't make my mind anxious because it doesn't take long to go up again.

what if you provide information not only limited to bitcoin?excessive excitement will make people very hasty and so confident to search for information on all platforms like youtube don't eat click bait and your friends don't get a thorough understanding, so this is not an obstacle but if you are still buying bitcoins on the (local) market, of course there is a guide. This means that maybe you are just getting to know the fundamentals of bitcoin and it's like something that has liquidity can be made into anything. if he only goes along to buy bitcoin and doesn't know the purpose of owning bitcoin, I think he has the right to know what the potential and capabilities of bitcoin are. At first I had bitcoin like that and ended up on a scam site because I was tempted by ROI and apy.
I hope beginners can minimize greed and ignorance.

I would like to say I had some kind of epic reaction but I would be lying, to me it was just like any other transaction at the time, I did not realized back then that such a purchase will be the beginning of a journey in which I will invest way more time and money than what I ever thought possible, however the person I was at the time when I made that transaction never thought about this, which in a way is funny because that is probably one of the most important purchases I have ever made.

The first time I have experienced owning BTC is when I have earned it from the side gig that I have worked years ago. It was a great feeling that I have some BTC (in sats) for the first time.

But during that time, I didn’t have my own non-custodial Bitcoin wallet and I instead received it to my centralised wallet. That time, I was not educated yet about the difference between the custodial and non-custodial wallet.

But at least I did when I first purchased the Ledger Nano S. As of today, that’s where I have stored my Bitcoins and other assets so that it cannot get compromised or freezed.

But there are some important points I could have loved to hear from your message which is, securing the Bitcoin bought for your friend in a cold wallet, since you mentioned you purchase the bitcoin am sure you did that through an exchange, so it will be safe to have your friend to buy a cold wallet to store the Bitcoin off-exchange, another option is using an online wallet for now even though online wallets are not 100% secured too.

 My was quite different, the first time I owned or received Bitcoin made me to changed my attitude not to allow my siblings to come close to my phone because of the bitcoins in my wallet at the moment.  Since then, I don't go out with my phone since I received Bitcoin in my wallet because I was thinking it will disappear without giving someone my  personal details  until I came to understand that without your personal details, nobody can have access to your bitcoins in your wallet before I start allowing my siblings to my phone.

Buying btc is great and buying now that the price is so cheap is the wisest choice, it is a good thing she decided to buy btc during the bear market because most newbies who bought btc during ath are mostly the ones frecking out and panic selling during this period. I would say the best time to talk new people into buying btc is when the price is relatively down. Not everyone can handle such a huge drop in price.

I didn't buy my first sats as it was given to me as my job fee. It was explained only that it was the future of money and blockchain.info wallet was used. I only want to make money at that time but was given me more than enough.

Somehow I also told my sister that BTC is the future of money. And by the time I gave her some BTC, she offer to buy more from me as if her future life depends on it. Are you asking how my first bitcoin purchase came about? I am glad that you are starting to profit from your investment in bitcoin. It is really hard to make money from shitcoins since they have no value at all. I would suggest that you try to reinvest your profit in bitcoin since you could earn more profit from it. Though your choice is to buy laptop accessories, it is not necessary right now. Instead, think more about how you can invest more in bitcoin so that your profit will be doubled. It is also good to buy it again now that the price is so low.

Mine was more of excitement as it meant something special to me because it came as a reward for my passion of writing. I did some write up for this site and they could only pay with US account, PayPal or Bitcoin. I didn't have the first two but already knew about Bitcoin so I setup my wallet, got my address and sent it to them. I got my reward with in minutes and it was awesome.

I didn't hold the Bitcoin for long though as I was short on cash and that was the reason behind me enrolling in that particular side hustle. The story would be different today as I'm not selling any Bitcoin that enters my account. I'll be hodling until we get to a new all time high, $100k is my spelling target for some profit.

I can relate to that worst first experience with shitcoin many of us started on that not even though we were well knowledge about Bitcoin and it decentralization, my experience of owning bitcoin came early as adoptor of Bitcoin but then along the way, the worst happen.

We went all in to altcoin after the etheruem blockchain came onboard and that mark the beginning of my confusion and losing of my entire portfolio, But then after realizing that altcoin were just a total time waiting I redirected my.focus back to Bitcoin and I am doing good now.

What’s the main reason why you purchased your Bitcoin? Most people usually feels excited because of the possible profit for the future price. I didn’t undergo on this stage because I get my first Bitcoin through faucets and campaigns here. I just have the experience on buying Bitcoin when the P2P on exchange using our local wallet is already available but I’m surprise that you are not excited by the time you are making a not so typical investment of your life.

Me too, I remember the first time I bought bitcoin, and the price of bitcoin was around $300. It wasn't a high price, and I didn't feel special until my bitcoins suddenly almost doubled in value in just a few months. I was really surprised and happy, the feeling at that time was indescribable.
Before coming to crypto, I also invest in stocks as well as forex, so I find it quite normal. But until I make a profit, because finding double profits in the stock market is almost very difficult and takes a long time to achieve.

The first time I purchased bitcoins was on a Ponzi scheme, I didn't know what it was exactly, but the intention of Ponzi was to make money, so I felt happy that I was making moves. My joy however changed in a few days after all my bitcoins including what I had gotten via crowd funding was gone. The second time I got bitcoins after my first experience, I was happier knowing that I knew better now and my bitcoins were safer.

First reactions can vary, and unless a person has a recording or a diary entry of it, we can remember it wrong and say something that isn't how it actually happened. I don't have a diary or a recording, so I can't be sure, but I think my reaction was being inquisitive but somewhat sceptical. My first BTC was through a signature campaign, and I didn't understand how the numbers on the screen can really be worth something if you can't have a physical version of them and if tons of people would not accept this as payment. The idea I guess behind investors not buying Bitcoin on their first investment is its price which might be intimidating. If you're a small investor ofcourse you won't be ablr to buy 1BTC in an instant and it would be more welcoming on your eyes to buy coins with low market value and being to have a decent amount of it not knowing that a small amount of Bitcoin is the same with buying a quantity of small tokens ( except for the idea of higher tendency to earn profit; that would depend on the demand of the token). Bitcoin among ither cryptos would put you in a safer place if you've chosen long term investment. But for short term, altcoins would be more profitable (if you would be able to invest on profitable ones).

Well its really wonderful to hear that more people are queuing in into the cryptocurrency world. Especially now that the market is favourable for us to buy as much BTC  as we can with knowledge and understanding that we get alot from a long time investment by hodling your coins and waiting for the market to be favourable.

For me I got into the crypto world at first with a fearful view toward bitcoin,  it wasn't until recently i really understood a little about the crypto world and how it works and after I gained this i was ready to start my bitcoin journey. I bought some few amount of btc in my binance account and the feeling was like i have already started seeing the rising and my money going high. I was happy when i was done with the whole transaction and now am just hodling.......

I remember my journey of owning first bitcoin was through social chatting over the internet. I used to do lot of paid to Click accounts back in 2014. So I met this guy over ptc site from whom I asked help regarding getting bulk referrals etc. He used to take 5-10 bucks and bam on the following day I used get lot of referrals and that too clicking ones.

When I curiously asked him one day how he is doing it then he said “peeps can do anything for Bitcoin”. That was time when got crazy curious about it. I asked him why everyone wants bitcoin so much and if I am paying you on the dollars then how are paying them in bitcoin?

Al the questions started flooding in. Then I slowly started to learn from him about peer to peer buy and sell. Got my first coin from LocalBitcoin. It was dam good journey.

Today here I am with my own Mining Rig, Nano Ledger S, earning bitcoins from multiple platforms and also teaching others about it all the time.

Thanks to that one unknown person whom I never met but he became good friend along the way. (Note: we talk very less these days, we never seen each other but only Chat now and then, miraculous!)

My journey on bitcoin started with earning some small amount of Satoshis on faucets, so I guess it is alright to say that I didn't buy my first bitcoin, I earned them through faucets and that made me indifferent.
When I read about people getting excited for purchasing their first bitcoin, I get confused because to me honestly, nothing special with it to be excited about, the only time and day I felt really excited was the day I purchased my first motorcycle and made a full payment of it in bitcoin, it gave me this joy and a confirmation that bitcoin is truly indeed a commodity that can be exchanged for other goods and services and not just kept as an investment, for many weeks, I bragged about purchasing my new bike with bitcoin to my friends, most of them who have heard about bitcoin but don't know much about it all wanted to know how I did it since bitcoin is not yet legally accepted currency in my country, I was happy to tell them.

This was the time i know I was happy, buying or owning my first bitcoin didn't make me happy or sad, I was just in my normal mood.

Before I received my first Bitcoin I had to do a lot of research and verify what I was doing.

First Bitcoin I ever got was only exciting in the sense I could play around with it. Wasn't worth much then and still isn't today ($1.70) but it was pretty cool seeing the input and how you could manipulate it and magically conjure it back into another wallet when restoring, and seeing the same value reflected on a blockchain.

Different feeling getting a significant amount as payment for work. Nervous too, making sure no mistakes made sending it to Localbitcoins to sell.

That's history for me, now I am all surfing through the ocean of crypto space and don't want to recall how I missed the train when bitcoin was 500-700 bucks. Everyday I used to  read about it and it's collapse, and how it's not the thing of this world and how I used to stay away from it. However, I somehow managed to dare myself to buy few bits and that was through coinbase initially. It was easy to use wallet and could get your coins exchanged easily. The first bits I bought were around 20-25 bucks. From that day I always used to visit CMC and check the price of bitcoin. I also had this mini task bar installed on my laptop which used to tell me live prices. Apparently bitcoin price rose very high and my bucks were literally doubled in front of my eyes and it just gave me whole new reaction for rest of the time. Then I jumped in with all the energy.

I got my first Bitcoin when I received an Altcoin from an event I participated in.
But they sent my payment to an exchange which required my to complete my KYC but since I wasn't prepared to let them have my details I then decided to swap the alts for Bitcoin since I had no faith in the Altcoin.

I got my first satoshis for free as it was sent to me, to prove that btc has actual fiat value.
Of course, I was hesitant at that time, and when I converted it to my currency that's when I believed that btc is indeed legit.
For those newcomers, you can't remove the happiness that they will feel as they will feel they belong to crypto community already.
Some are even bragging on their social media that they own btc, which is not very safe to do so.

We all relate to this part when we first buy bitcoin and see the numbers in our bitcoin wallet, Mine was in 2017 when I first bought my bitcoin I don't really know or understand what bitcoin is but it was just a great feeling, especially for someone like me that doesn't really invest. I got my first Bitcoin when I received an Altcoin from an event I participated in.
But they sent my payment to an exchange which required my to complete my KYC but since I wasn't prepared to let them have my details I then decided to swap the alts for Bitcoin since I had no faith in the Altcoin.

You did the right thing swapping that altcoins as chances are, that altcoins is dead by now or been trading at a negative and most likely won't be rated as high as it was during the time of sell. We saw projects like Luna crashed even though it had billions of investors backing throughout the period of existence through investment in the project. Back in 2015/2016 I was heavily trading CSGO skins, I put some money into the game only with the goal to trade for my first knife, after that it had to be an expensive AWP skins and so on. Eventually I had too much money in the game, and once I got lucky in some case openings, I really needed to withdraw some money out of my steam account. The fastest and cheapest option on the big sites was with Bitcoins, so I made my first bitcoins transaction and owned my first crypto coins. As far as I remember it, I didn't think too much about the cryptos itself. For me it was more a tool to transfer money out of my CSGO inventory. My biggest investment mistake was to sell all my bitcoins back in the day, I wanted to have the money on my bank account and didn't save any bitcoins at all. That why I feel a bit bad about my first bitcoin transactions.

I came across a very sad day for me by chance, I just remember that at the time I was managing a community on kodi software and some users entered the chat writing Buy Bitcoin.  So I asked what it was and I didn't quite understand, I was only reading about euphoric people because it was about to surpass $1000.  So I opened Firefox and searched for Bitcoins, I spent hours trying to figure out what exactly I had to do in order to have some, and I remember that my choice fell on kraken.  Damn I surrendered my privacy.

Just as you said to you bitcoin was just a means to an end so it was natural that you decided to sell your bitcoin at the time and got fiat instead, besides as you were not that interested in bitcoin at the time even if you had for some reason held those coins it is possible you would have sold for a bad price and maybe you could have even lost money in the process as well, so do not feel bad about it, because even if a great deal of people wish they had invested in bitcoin years before they actually did, there is a reason why that was not the case.

My journey is very long in buying Bitcoin,
At first, I was a forex trader, but by going on for so long and being very boring, I finally got to know Bitcoin trading at that time, and by living in a vacuum of time as an Airdrops Hunter or a shitcoin and altcoin scavenger such as tesnet and mainnet, it lasted for about a year, then I I dared to invest in altcoins because the price was relatively cheap, unlike Bitcoin which at that time cost $ 20 - 30k if not mistaken, of course, I thought I would prefer to buy cheap and have lots of coins to make it more profitable, but after a few weeks my friend suggested to invest in Bitcoin, he said Bitcoin is safer than altcoins and he also taught me to store Bitcoin in a decentralized wallet.
Maybe at first my purchase was not that interesting because indeed Bitcoin is like other investments I thought at that time, but after some time I know Bitcoin to this day, this is happiness for me.

I bought when the price was around $400+ and I was thinking that $500 would be the All time high price... and I would not make a huge profit.    A little while after that, the price increased to $1000+ and I sold many of those coins.

I sold many of them for a huge profit at $18 000 and then again at $25 000 and the last ones at $40 000. I've been using Bitcoin since 2016 and rather actively since, with at least one commercial spend a week, I get paid for freelance work several times a month -- those are my direct p2p on chains. I do make many more sends for online services -- but I don't really consider those as useful since I don't know if the service eventually settles some or all to fiat. Excluding sells, which I do p2p mainly.

Sorry to digress but my point was I also "harboured" old sats from 2016 until 2021 when I decided to chuck away all my legacy wallets. Other than the very very first I ever got, which was given to me, I also got my first payments in BTC in that year -- also around the $400 mark. Funny enough, majority of my payments in those days were actually altcoins! Doge, ETH, LTC especially, but I exchanged most of those to BTC anyway as I just wanted to keep my savings in a single wallet.

Didn't consolidate those for a really long time, there was a funny sentimentality around those Bitcoin as:
- it was a period of big change in my life, switching careers to almost fully remote
- it was my 2nd time freelancing, after over a decade, and using Bitcoin instead of PayPal
- it was the beginning of my financial reboot (I spent literally all my savings to make a life move, fitting everything in a suitcase to take a chance on a new life).

No regrets for having to liquidate most of it in 2020/21, well before ATH but catching the 20k mark. I am still much better off than I was in 2016, and could never possibly have saved enough for what I needed money for, had I not accepted Bitcoin.

It is true that many people lost their bitcoins because they lost hope in the project. I think this was not because bitcoin was bad, but because there were many shady companies around that time that stole a lot of bitcoins and made politics sanction bitcoin. Bitcoin survived this, but still we see the crypto space as a space full of scammers sadly. I think we can only end this, with enough education on how to keep the coins safe.

Without basic knowledge and knowing how the market works, the fear of losing money is inevitable.
I was paranoid about bitcoin at first because of the fast price fluctuations. I was afraid of losing the money I worked hard for, but after a while the fear went away as my knowledge increased.

So my first impression when I bought bitcoin was fear of losing money. Maybe many other people have the same impression at the beginning, but that's the stupidest story I have as an initial impression. Now everything has changed, even I don't want to sell those bitcoin before my target is reached.

im of the era of 1BTC was a coffee. so i didnt get excited until i got a hoard of coin

but looking it as an investment. i see it now as:

there are about 2,148,040,619 households(homes) in the world
rounding it to 2.1b

meaning 0.01btc represents one house in the world

so some can see that owning 0.01btc is like the feeling of getting the keys to a house you own out-right(on the scarcity rate)

I was a little bit scared when I first got my Bitcoin back in 2017, since before I thought it was something ONLY used by criminals in the deep web/dark web or whatever you call it but I decided to bite the bullet since it was being reported anyway in my local news. Slowly that feeling of fear turned into comfort when I knew I was going to be okay and my misconception all to it were all plain wrong. Facing alot of challenges when I started my crypto journey with losing and making it part of my experience in the long run. your experience reminds me of my experience which is always like that, and I personally always often look at the market, and also when the price goes down there is always panic, and when the price goes up there is always a feeling of happiness, but indeed the first time buying bitcoin is a happy thing and mixed with excitement worry. I think most people must have been when they first bought bitcoin.

1 BTC is a good goal, in the past it was much easier to achieve, but now you need to work hard for this. In the past, I treated it differently, it may even have been some kind of game, but time has changed everything and now for me it is quite a serious investment.

The first time I owned bitcoin was at the end of 2017, but then I made too many mistakes and ended up losing everything I had. Now I have rethought everything and invest in bitcoin, I am also moving towards the goal of 1 bitcoin. It's bad that I started doing the right things so late, but I also hope that it's not too late that bitcoin will still grow in price and a good adoption awaits it.

There are those who buy it and some from bounties or other gifts, but obviously I agree that everyone is very happy to be able to buy bitcoins, myself when I bought bitcoins from trading from bounty results, I felt happy and happy to be able to get it because that was the first time I could hold bitcoin, there is a sense of satisfaction in itself.
but indeed I don't and haven't thought about long-term investments and only for a moment when it has increased I immediately let go.
maybe the same as you now if you buy it is for a long term investment because it is clear that there will be a surprise waiting for it with a fantastic price increase.
