If my daughter asked me to do this the first thing I would ask her is "Exactly how much is it going to raise my electricity bill?"  And then I would tell her if she could figure it out correctly then I would let her.

So blabla, can you calculate exactly how much this is going to raise your parents electricity bill?

That makes sense...

May I ask what this "other stuff" is that you got 0.5 BTC from?  I've been mining at snail's pace and and up to only .25 BTC.  Hopefully, by next week, I'll be able to actually buy some coins.  Meanwhile, how did you get so many BTC so fast?

Nonsense

Their parents are allowing him to use the computers AND put no restrictions on HOW to use it. So, as long as he use it in a legal way, he can do what he want with it.

Just because I let my kid have a computer to play games doesn't mean he can run it at 100% 24/7 and make my electricity bill raise so he can make some money off something else.  If he asked, sure I'd probably let him and see how much it raises the bill and go from there, but to do it without saying anything is a douche thing to do.

Besides, your only criteria for whether or not it's right is whether or not someone told you specifically not to do it?  You must have had an interesting childhood.

I wasn't talking to you, I saw you said you got her permission already.  I was referring to what Gabi said.

If they let you use the computer AND put no restriction about HOW to use it, you can use it as you wish, pretty simple.

It's not like a computer is on 24/24 and no one notice that anyway

Well it depend on the numbers of molecules and atoms of the computer, how they are disposed and the temperature, add to that the quantic effects and some other things, maybe if we become gods we can exactly compute how much energy do a computer use.

So if your parents didn't specifically tell you not to leave the faucet running, jack up the water bill, run a pipe to the neighbors, sell it at a loss and pocket the profits, then its okay to do?  That sure is some logic you got there.   Roll Eyes

Gabi - this is very funny if you are being sarcastic, very very sad if you really believe this.

My parents taught me morals and ethics so I knew what to not do, and don't need to be told what not to do by authority figures, but to each his own I guess  Smiley

That's pretty obvious yes.  I'm done derailing this thread though, I think the OP had a question that was never answered.

0/10, fail trolling is fail.
