Nigerian Sports Ministry Withdraws Support for Scrabble Team’s African Championship Defense Due to Lack of Funds

At the moment, I don't even know who to blame. In fact, I am tired of complaining. Lemme just ask some rhetorical questions - 1) Didn't they know that there is a Scrabble Championship coming up after the Olympics? Why did they even use the world "withdraw"? Didn't they have a budget at the beginning of the year for this? They could have well said they didn't budget for it. This just looks like a case of financial misappropriation. What I can advise those who are participating in the game is to source for sponsorships and partnerships deal to be able to to foe the competition. Nigerian government would not like to support but would be the first to do homecoming after they win.

I think I agree with you. It is simple thing to understand that they have embezzled the funds because in the football calendar year they have a budget for all the major sports and minor sports. I am perceiving corruption and misappropriation of funds in his statement. Because it is not possible for the Sport Ministry to tell me that nthey have exhausted their budget. And this is a vet shameful something the ministry is saying. It is not good to publicised it. The whole country is withdrawing from an intentional competition because of lack of funds. It's weakened me.

It is a pity to see that almost everything in Nigeria is not working and no one is ready to sacrifice for the country by managing the resources in his custody to use for the right purpose, but they prefer to embezzle the funds and careless about the outcome of their corrupt action. How will he say that he has used all the funds allocated to the ministry in Paris when our cyclist was not given a bicycle that he will use to partake in the Olympics game. It was a foreigner that came to his aid.

But there will always be funds to buy private jets and yachts for government officials and their families. The budget of the First Lady's  budget might be bigger than sports. Scrabble is an important mental sport that can develop the creativity and ingenuity of the younger generation. And these completion are avenues for the development of sports in Nigeria. The African Senior Scrabble Championship might be a qualification stage for the world championship, but the sports ministry has just dashed the hope of the players who have been training for this competition in Kigali, Rwanda. The actions of the government are the reason most Nigerian sportsmen are naturalizing in other countries. John Owan-Enoh is failing in his duty as a sports minister.

Sport Minister HON. JAMILA BIO IBRAHIM said they have used all the funds allocated to the ministry in the Paris Olympics 2024 therefore they don't have any money to fund the upcoming scrabble game competition in Rwanda on the 23th of October 2024.  The minister also said the team can sort of resources to fund the competition. And Nigeria is one of the best in the scrabble game in Africa. They won all the time. So when I heard the news, I was shock. These are some of the things demoralising players to perform well because the zeal would just die down. You can see the full details from the link.

It's quite shameful to see and believe that our leaders have no shame again, to come out openly to say what is not acceptable to ones hearing. How can an appointed minister of sports spew out this kind of rubbish and feel comfortable about it that Nigeria will fully welcome what he has to say and see reason with him by giving him a round of applause?

We can now see the level of corruption hovering in our country, that our leaders now think that we are all fools, that can do nothing to them; by the way, sports don't add value to the economy. They can do away with it as they can, and nobody will question them about it since every government parastatal is guilty of siphoning money allocated to them; the sports ministry can do the same.

However, for the sports minister to come up with such a lie about the funds allocated to them by the Paris Olympics means they do not have much regard for sports. To them, it is normal for Nigeria athletes not to participate in the upcoming Scrabble game competition in Rwanda

Enugu Rangers vs Bayelsa United played today and Bayelsa United loss 1-0 to Enugu Rangers. Bayelsa United is not doing well in this season. Their last Matchey too they loss 3-0 with Sunshine Stars, And 1-1 with Kano Pillars and Kwara United. And today again, they have loss out again.
And their next Match with PLU is on the 13 of October and I believed Plateau United F.C will still win them. Bayelsa United is the same with Man U. Lolz.

To follow the Nigerian Premier League is not easy because there is no channel to watch the Match so it is not easy. That is an another level of backwardness of the country. Ordinary local channels are not here to watch local matches. By the way Lobi Stars won Shooting Stars in today Match.

After 3 consecutive losses and a draw in home and away matches, Heartland FC have secured their first match win of the NPL for the season by winning against Niger Tornadoes by 2-0. It is a moment of joy for Imolite yesterday as they witnessed their state club winning Niger Tornadoes at Dan Anyanwu Stadium Owerri in Round 5 of NPFL.

Heartland and Niger Tornadoes match meet-up has always been Heartland to win or Niger Tornadoes to win. I was thinking that Niger Tornadoes would win Heartland based on how in the form they are compared to Heartland, which is having a poor performance this season.

Based on how football is, to be full of surprises, Niger Tornadoes lose their first match of the season to Heartland. However, this should be the third time Heartland is winning over Niger Tornadoes, the second time Niger Tornadoes had won over Heartland(H2H)

One thing we also need to know is that there are some people who are good to control and maintain small organisation but can't in big one. And I thought that might have been the case of George Finidi. He would have done well in the two matches or even one in the Super Eagles. But all the same we appreciate his efforts of leading the NPFL.
And I also discovered that the former Super Eagles Player, Daniel Amokachi has returned to NPFL to coach Lobi Stars after 9 years of his absence of the league.

Heartland FC of Owerri have been very inconsistent with their results since the start of the season but were able to get an important win yesterday against Niger Tornadoes. It was the first win for their new manager Emmanuel Amunike and I think they can use it as a turning point to their season.

The pressure was on the coach of Heartland FC Emmanuel Amunike to at least win a game. In five games the Owerri-based club has lost three, drew one and just won their first game. His former teammate Finidi George's Rivers United is topping the league. I also wish that this win will be a turning point for the club because the state government has invested so much in them this season. The club signed many new players and had to facilitate the Premier League slot with Millions of Naira.

I didn't watch their previous match and this is the first time I have seen Bayelsa United winning in this season. But according to the anchor, this is the second time they have win in this season. The best game of the day was the Remo Stars vs Nasarawa United which ended with 3-0. Remo Stars 3 and Nasarawa United 0.

The fact that even after all the international fame musa has got all this years, he still find it a worthy gesture to find his way to the NPFL especially for his home side kano pillars is very commendable but on a second taught, the few times hes been back, hes back as a free agent, invariably he's getting pass his prime and could not be good potential for the team away and so because he knows NPFL will accept him he see them as a good place to fall back at, in as much as i would love to see a d have our international stars coming back home, i would prefer they do it in their prime, tho it may not look ideal enough for their career but it will help promote and boost he NPFL and take it to rhe level w have always wanted it

Yes you have said well and another thing wey I am also observing, those National and international players might dislike the NFPL when they have retired from the National Team. But for those who are still strong enough can join them and continue the fun from there till they finally retired from football. The first match Musa played he scored two goals. And in this season, Kano Pillar is doing well. Even yesterday match, they won Sunshine Stars 2 nill.

ISunshine Stars is on 10 points now in the table while Remo Stars has 15 points which is the highest point in the season. Ikorodu City has 4 points which is the last point in the tournament.
