This is quite a surprise to me as well, from the way Argentina has been performing i expected them to be the favorites, I don't know why the bookmakers decided to arrange the odds this way but I think that it's because Spain has an advantage here. Although It could also be a trap because that's the system then bookmakers use to trick gamblers into picking the wrong option. Messi is going to put in everything he has to make sure that his team wins the world cup.
I initially thought the odds would be fairly even. But I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Spain were the favorites. After all, statistically speaking, Spain has earned that status so far. Spain has defeated other top contenders in this World Cup without conceding a single goal except in the match against Belgium. and Spain has only conceded one goal so far. Argentina, on the other hand, has often conceded first and then come back to turn the game around. So statistically, this is to be expected. However being named the favorite by the bookmakers doesn’t guarantee a win. After all, quite a few favorites have ended up losing.

I only have a one certainty: Spain can not score a first goal by now it is clear that Argentina has "fire in their eyes" when facing defeat and enough strength to overturn any score, so I think it is better if the match start with Argentina scoring the first goal, then Spain equalizing and then finally winning the penalty shootout! I know... a penalty shootout in the final of championship would probably give a lot of fans to have a heart attack, but is there any other way to beat Argentina? Seriously now... I believe that Argentina has everything it takes to win: greater technical superiority, determination and more luck than Spain. Unfortunately, I believe they will become champions again. [EDIT] And now I am rooting for Spain, with its strength and determination, to eliminate Argentina Yes, I said this, but do not confuse what I would like with what I believe.

Even when they’re trailing, they can still play calmly and turn the game around. And this is Argentina’s strength that many other teams lack. In terms of overall quality I think Spain has a slight edge. But in the final, mental toughness and experience are absolutely crucial. And I actually think Spain needs to win in regulation time if they want to be World Cup champions. Because if they can’t win in regulation, Argentina will beat them in extra time or even in a penalty shootout. I believe the mental toughness of the Argentine players is far superior. And we’ve seen how this team can quickly turn the tide in extra time.

I can agree that Argentina is technologically superior. They have more experienced players compared to the relatively young Spanish side. But how that is going to favor them if the match gets decided by penalty shootout? Penalty shootouts can be like 20% skill and 80% luck. If it goes to shootout, then I would give 55-45 chances to Argentina and Spain respectively. So far Argentina has participated in 7 shootouts (and won 6 of them). So it may be 65-35, rather than 55-45. But even 35% is not a small probability. Spain has so far participated in 5 shootouts, losing 4 of them.

Yes, I agree with you, my friend, because it is true that so far Spain has had a pretty good record in every match. Because in their last match when facing France, Spain managed to win without conceding. So that clearly illustrates that Spain currently has everything it takes to be able to compete well in the upcoming final. Because basically France is a very strong team, and always able to score goals in every match. But when they face Spain, everything becomes different and France seems to be a team that is not too strong. So that's why I think Argentina also clearly needs to be careful in the upcoming final, because they will face Spain who performs very well, both from the defense line and from the attack line. So with that in mind, I might also favor Spain in this final. Because if Spain can maintain its performance well in the final, I believe Spain will definitely be able to win.

The team that has been quite consistent in the World Cup so far is clearly Spain, as they have conceded very few goals to their opponents making it natural for them to be in the final phase of the World Cup. However, in addition to their consistency in their matches they are also very disciplined in maintaining their defense. Although their defensive players are not particularly tall they are quite adept at maintaining balance. One of them, Cucurella is currently in top form as he consistently displays his strength despite the ups and downs of each match. Moreover he is currently one of the irreplaceable players in their coach's squad leading many to admire the player who has now been recruited by Real Madrid. That's right. In that match France seemed unusually strong appearing to lose their composure against Spain even though the quality of the players clearly outperformed France. But that's football anything can happen. Spain's 2-0 victory over France was not entirely convincing to many as bookmakers favored France. However the convincing scoreline justified that and Spain needed to be more prepared for the final. They would face the defending champions but many were confident that the match would be a fierce one.

The odds (from Winna.com) for the final game on Sunday are: To win the Cup: Spain: x1.68 - Argentina: x2.12
Regular time result: Spain: x2.26; Draw: x2.96; Argentina: x3.50
This is quite a surprise to me as well, from the way Argentina has been performing i expected them to be the favorites, I don't know why the bookmakers decided to arrange the odds this way but I think that it's because Spain has an advantage here. No one really expected Argentina to make it this far, it’s not everyday you come from behind to qualify to the next stage of the tournament, actually they’ve done that twice right now and it’s unlikely that they would be able to do that for a 3rd time. They are a good team no doubt and they’ve got the right mentality even when they are loosing but, seeing how Spain did handle their game against France, you would expect them to do well against Argentina but who knows, Argentina can still pull out something surprising as always. Dude, didn't you I never expected that Argentina will make to this stage of the tournament, but it shows that they are a good players that has a consistency in thier team work, same thing happens in thier last matches especially the match against England, the match was quite okay but it was the fault of Tuchel, he was the one that contributed to thier losses, imagine how can you defend just one goal scored around 50s something minutes, and moreover even thoer their defensive was very poor, because they were just standing without movements and that's what gives Argentinas to ha have chances of scoring goals. As such well done played to Argentina and Spain. Let's see who will lift the trophy.

Tuchel really disappointed me in that match, i never expected that a coach of his pedigree will come up with such strategy, his tactics was really poor, why i became really surprised with his tactics in that match was because Tuchel has never been a defensive coach, he literally wanted to change the Chelsea team from being defensive to attacking and almost won 2 champions league for Chelsea so i was worried when i observed that England were being defensive, at some point in the second half i was seeing Bellingham so deep that he was in the 18yards box of his team marking Messi, how can an attacker that was supposed to be pressuring the Argentina defends and pulling them back now fall so deep to his defense? Even Harry Cane was so deep so literally the Argentina team didn’t have any threat, you can’t win a game by just defending, defending only gives your opponent more opportunities to score, same mistake Egypt made and felt like Messi was being favored is the same mistake England has made. The best form of defense is attack.

I almost certainly predict that Argentina will win the trophy. The match will not go to penalties. I have seen the desire to win in the eyes of the young players of the Argentina team that I have not seen in the players of any other team. Although the start of the Spain team was not very impressive, they won every game in the knockout match and qualified for the final, but although I am not so satisfied with the performance of the team, if they can maintain the consistency of the performance they showed against France in the semi-final match, it may not be difficult to win against the favourite Argentina. To win every match a team has to be lucky and in that sense, no other team is as lucky as the Argentina team.

Yamal sharing one pitch with Messi is indeed a new era of football that shouldn't have happened, growing up to excel alongside Messi in this world cup competition was unexpected, but it's a great sign of how football evolved in this era, after this final fight, it'll be a new beginning of an era for Yamal, Haaland, and maybe Mbappe.
How do you mean by them sharing the pitch together shouldn't have happened, I wonder why you made that very statement! That's the only part I found weird with your your analysis on this, although it's been happening in the past even, father and sons has shared the same pitch in the past and like you said afterwards it indeed a good thing. The younger generation needs to play alongside the older generations, there are still things they need to learn from all these older payers. On Sunday we will be glued to this very match as we await to see what happens in the game and who will become champions. It is not uncommon for two generation of player to play together on pitch. It is very common occurrence in football and it is through this that the game evolve. Experienced player share their life experience with the younger one, and the younger one get the chance to test their skill against the star they grew up watching. This case is special not only because Messi and Yamal are playing on same pitch. But also because of timing and symbolic significance. Messi is likely to play in last World Cup final of his career. While Yamal is starting what could be a memorable international career. In fact the Finalissima between Argentina and Spain was scheduled to take place earlier this year. But was cancelled due to security concerns in Middle East. Finally they are set to face each other in the biggest final on world stage

That's why the decision isn't yours or even ours to make, the players played all that they could and Argentina came out on top, it might not have been the outcome some people wanted but it is what happened and now Argentina has moved up to the finals to play against Spain, it's going to be one of the biggest finals ever and I can't wait to watch it and see how it ends, I will be happy no matter the team that wins.
Well this was literally the outcome I expected and I would have been surprised if the game had ended in a 1:0. The game just proves the saying that never say it’s over until it’s over, because I know all England supporters had already concluded that it was actually over with England leading with one goal at 80+ minutes. At some point I was even wondering is Argentina intentionally wanted or planned to wait till that time before doing their magic, because all of a sudden it looked like they suddenly knew what they were doing, scoring 2 goals in less than 20 minutes with two tremendous assists from Messi… It was a good performance from Argentina and they should do even better in the final but I wouldn't recommend letting Spain lead up until past 80 minutes, it might have worked for them to equalise and even win the match with England or like with Egypt but I doubt Spain will give them that opportunity so if they want to win they should make sure to not let Spain have the lead, at least not not up to that close to the end of the match.

Didn't Ronaldo says the same thing that he is not coming back for this world cup? He did came back and was sent away like the way he walk out the last time. The same Messi we think this world cup will be his last might come back next season. He might not want to come back but if Fifa brings an offer, I don't think he is going to reject it but for now he is doing well and everyone is enjoying it. The way Messi is moving in this world cup, you will even think the guy is 28 years old, he is not showing any sign of old age, even the team look upto him. If this debate of goat doesn't end, I think he is likely going to back if he is giving an offer. World cup without Messi or Ronaldo will not be entertaining and most likely people will not want to subscribe to there inflated price. The billions will not come to them once these two players doesn't feature them again.

All tournament long I don't see why people are saying Spain are the clear favorites to win in the finals. Lamine Yamal has not made any statement during the games they have played and the only goal I can remember Oyarzabal scoring was from a penalty in their last game. On the other hand Argentina has performed well in each and every game they have played. Having to comeback being down two goals in their match against Egypt and now with only within ten minutes versus England yesterday. They certainly know how to close out their matches so I don't expect anything different from them in the final.
Oyazarbal played better for Spain in World Cup 2026 compares to Euro 2020 and Euro 2024. I don't remember he participated in World Cup 2022 or not but in two Euros, he did not play too well by wasting many opportunities. In this World Cup, he score more goals for Spain and shown his improvement but he still wasted good chances. In the final match, if he wastes chances again, likely there will be no more luckiness for him and Spain. Argentina in this World Cup have shown very strong mentality of champion, and it's really hard to beat them down. They already had to make some comebacks, and their mentality was tested many times while with Spain, who know how will they react if they let Argentina scoring first. Like France, in a first match they got a conceded goal first, they lost the match. His improvement is amazing and he's lucky to have players that ain't greedy for goals who create good opportunities to score, i believe he learnt from the experience of the previous competition and tried doing better so he'll be retained as the top striker for Spain. Oyazarbal is not who I expected to be Spains goal machine but Yamal however it's good for his career cause agents of bigger clubs would come for him after the World Cup. Argentina has mastered comeback their previous games have been won through comebacks, it's interesting to see that Messi is not only scoring but setting other players to score when his chances of hitting the target is slim. The finals would be against two genius who graduated from LA Masia and both wore the number 10 jersey at Barcelona, "Messi and Yamal". In my opinion, Spain is the favorite because they seem more cohesive, but that's no reason to automatically single them out as the team to win the World Cup. If they let Argentina dominate from the start, they'll surely lose. Their goal is to start aggressively and try to score as many goals as possible in the first half. Otherwise, they risk ending up like England.

Would actually be great if Spain manage to beat Argentina anyway, because personal, I am not supporting Argentina to win the world Cup again this season, they won it in the last World Cup that was played back in the year 2022, and here they are this year again.. And this is not like I have anything against Argentina any way, I am a big fan of Messi, I am just a kind of person that loves to see something like reward, world Cups, league titles rotate from one team to another yearly or seasonal, when one team wins the world Cup back to back from one season to the next season, it makes me feel like the whole tournament was less competitive, or maybe there was some kind of rigging somewhere.. Anyways, I know all of this makes absolutely no sense but well, that's just me any way, if Argentina win the cup again, good for them but I will support Spain..

Besides having a strong fighting spirit I actually think Argentina has the strongest mental toughness compared to other teams.
You mean to say that Argentina are technically superior? Well I have to agree with that because they have more experienced players when compared to the Spanish side that with the youngest square still in competition. While Argentina's experienced players will be an advantage, Spain's young lads might as well overrun them with their pace. It'll be a difficult match for both sides but I honestly do not think that Argentina will beat Spain in that final and the possibility of the game being decided in penalties I also think is slim.

Taking the initiative to play aggressively against Argentina isn’t really wrong. Looking at their defense, Argentina shouldn’t be that strong. But we can see that actually, the team with a strong defense is Spain. They concede very few goals, and I think in the final match, they will still play strongly. Spain’s attacking strength usually comes from its wingers. But maybe they need to have lots of alternative attacking patterns in case they have trouble scoring against Argentina.

Tuchel thought of England like he was managing Chelsea in the CL I guess. Because it was how he won the CL in the 2020/21 season - by adopting a defensive game plan. That was a total mistake and deep down he also knows it I hope. England played so timidly in the 2nd half. You aren't playing against an incapable team. You can't take such risk. Messi is going for his 2nd WC trophy. But I hope Spain win as I don't like the way FIFA is acting as for Argentina. No doubt Tuchel deserves the blame. he keeps thinking managing club and nation are the same while he has proper backline in Chelsea when he won UCL compared to this time. So i think he has to change his approach. He can't use the same approach to the any of game in the different competition. This is why he's being called as a coach with no creativity in term of building tactic. If he still repeating the same thing in another competition like nation league or euro. I think he must be changed with a competent coach that can manage england better. I was hoping England to pick a better name than Tuchel, but it's what they demanded.

Sure penalty shootouts do involve skills, especially when it has to do with preparation and goalkeeping. I do not dispute the fact that they have a high level of unpredictability, but that doesn’t mean that a player’s and a goalkeeper’s skills cannot give a team an upper hand. Although no one really knows what the final outcome would be, especially if it ends in a penalty shootout, but people would still expect at least the best or team with the stronger players to win.

No one can say exactly which team will win the World Cup final, but if the game ends in 90 minutes, then Spain will likely win, and if it goes to penalties, then of course Argentina's players are a little more experienced and have the support of their goalkeeper. Goalkeeper Martinez is very experienced because he was the only goalkeeper who helped Argentina win the World Cup in the next World Cup in 2022. So I don't rule out Spain at all, although Argentina can win on penalties and get lucky.

Besides having a strong fighting spirit I actually think Argentina has the strongest mental toughness compared to other teams. Even when they’re trailing, they can still play calmly and turn the game around. And this is Argentina’s strength that many other teams lack. And we’ve seen how this team can quickly turn the tide in extra time. Argentina's morale and their confidence are the reason why they have reached the final. Having a legendary player in the team can turn the team around at any time, we have seen how well Argentina's game has kept itself calm and made it to the final. However, the game against Spain will be very difficult, as Spain is a relatively strong team, so the final is going to be very competitive between the two teams. Although it is impossible to say with such confidence that Argentina will win, the game will be very competitive, so we are looking forward to seeing a very challenging and difficult game between the two teams. Basically, if the Spanish team can play strongly in their attack and defense line, Argentina will not be able to beat them. If the Spanish team plays the game that they played against France, it will be very difficult for Argentina to win the match, in that case the competition between the two teams will continue.
