Gambling for fun is simply just betting on something you like doing or watching. But whether you gamble for fun or not, it's only ourselves who knows it.
It only feels like you are fooling yourself by betting on sports you don't like but cheering for the team you put your money on. Its probably a gambler's idea of fun but for some people, the idea of fun is just partying and drinking and catching up with friends.

 

Gambling alone is fun if you do it more for entertainment, and not just for the profits you can gain from it. But it would be more fun and satisfying too if you gamble and then you won eventually. But I believe if you see gambling as another way of making money, that won’t be fun anymore if you gamble and then you keep losing your funds. My idea of gambling for fun, is that you do it naturally with your good friends, without being pressured that you also need to make profits as well.

Its for fun but people do really goes into a certain extent on which they are already aiming for the money and trying out to chase on winning which is really that very wrong.Although it is really that impossible for

a certain person not to mind off on winning because it is really part of the overall things that you would really be facing on which whether you do lose or win.So it would be normal in human mind to asks or being that
hopeful or trying out to make yourself win but eventually these things are just a bonus.It is really just hard to make yourself convince that you are playing for fun but deep inside

I have the same insight towards this belief. Others think that gambling for fun is just doing gambling without considering the risks and without hoping to win. For me, gambling for fun kmis just enjoying the entire game while targeting a good profit at the same time. It's also about having the eagerness to win but having the positive attitude as well. It focuses on having fun while betting and not stressing out too much with the possibility of losing.

You've made a good point about it. The interest of making profit is there and it's not just entirely all about fun.
The fun is there no matter what the result is and you have to think of it that you're having fun thus, you're not happy with the result.
The point is whether you win or not, you'll just be chill and cool and you had fun and you'll even be happier if you've made the money. I think that's the whole point of it and can't be denied.

I share the same thought.  For me, gambling for fun means raking in winnings, rewards, and bonuses.  I also agree that it is not fun to see our bankroll depleted during our session.  I also don't believe that people are trully gambling for entertainment's sake (without the thought of profit).  After all, what is our reason why we are betting and wagering amoutns if we don't hope in winnings?  So yeah gambling for fun to me is gambling to win.  But of course, I always gamble on what I can afford to lose.

This makes sense. Gambling takes more of our time especially if we keep chasing our satisfaction so we also have to make it profitable as well. Because to be honest, a lot of gamblers would never want fun and satisfaction alone, they are also gambling for more money making. Even if we always say let’s gamble for fun, but the truth is there can only be more fun if we also get lucky in gambling.

Gambling for fun for me the fun comes in when I am making profit as I am playing, like where's the fun in losing money when that wasn't the intent before indulging into the gambling activity. The fun we get for gambling just for leisure is different from that of gambling for the making a profit on your bet. The two case as different and the fun from it differs.

Yes, same here, I mean when you play your initial thought will be just to have some fun, if ever you win then that is a plus already. But if not, and you lose your money, then you will be fine as well, no problems when you wake up and you can go with your normal lives the next day as if nothing has happen with the money that you loses. To gamble for fun for me is simple. Gambling without expecting any form of win or whatsoever. I gamble knowing I'll lose all the money I have dedicated for gambling for that day, and thus far it has given me outdtandingvresults in my mental health and handling my emotions. If we are doing it for fun then I think that's not gambling or we shouldn't use the word gamble as it sounds not right. For me, to gamble is to take a risk. In my case whenever I play in a casino I expect both things. That is to have fun and also to win a profit. People who say they gamble for fun, meaning they don't care if they win or lose are lying. We all play to win, and as OP stated the difference is in how much we really need this win.
Those who put a lot of money on the line, take big risks even though they don't have any backup plan will act like they don't care after a loss, but they do. They'll never gamble for fun. It's a survival game for them with a sprinkle of addiction on top

The way I see it you can't really have a lot of fun playing dice. It's a boring game of pressing a button and hoping for a green transaction to come up on your feed. There are some games you can play for fun like card games or real craps where you really roll but again you have to be aware of the money you're putting at stake, be ready for a loss and treat a win like something unexpected.

For me, what the OP stated is what I look at gambling also when you say you are gambling for fun.
Of course, when you play, somehow deep inside, you want to win also.
Who would want to lose all his games, right? But when you lose, that's fine, no hard feelings.
But you keep reminding yourself that this is gambling, so whatever you throw on your games, may not ever come back.
So what you can do, is just enjoy the game with the hope of winning but not totally expecting it.

If you are out of control of your gambling, then I must say that you play to look for profits and not to enjoy the game. Specially if you go out with friends and families in a land base casinos, it will surely be fun and entertaining specially if one of your families are winning, everyone will be happy to see that. But if your intentions is to win big, then it's a different story in my opinion. We'll see how they react when they gamble. Someone will show a happy reaction when they win, and will show a full reaction of disappointment when they lose. And in general, gamblers put a million hopes on their bets. With these two reactions we can conclude that gambling is not done for fun, but they dream with hope that they can make more money with small capital in a short time. The feeling of disappointment when you lose a bet is of course the opposite of the expression of having fun. I personally think that the phrase "gambling puts hope" behind the disappointment.

If gambling for fun means gambling without any need or hope of making profit, why throw away or waste my money then? I would just put the game in a demo mood and play - I believe a lot of casinos have this feature.
But like I explained above, gambling for fun for me is not gambling with no interest in making profit, in gambling for fun, I hope to make profit, but I just consciously don't make the profit a priority, this means that if at the end of the game, I make a profit, i am happy, because I hoped for it, but if I don't make profit, I am not sad, I am not unhappy, because it wasn't a priority, and for me not to feel sad, I get my mind off the money lost and focus on the fun I had playing the game - Being happy is a choice, I hope we all know this.

Well said, and obviously it should be played like that. Getting depressed because you lose is by definition not playing for fun.
When you get depressed of your losses, you were either gambling with too high stakes or weren't prepared for loss.
But same thing applies when trading. Only bet what you can lose (preferably with a smile on your face) And always be prepared for loss.

It might not bring you big profits but least you are not losing too much and later you'll be thanking yourself showing strength. And i often play with demo mode too, just to get familiar with new slots or getting that "need to click some buttons and see some bright lights" out of my system, which is at least quarter of the fun.

You have your own perception of "gambling for fun", while others have their own perception of it. You can't claim others have the wrong perception, they may have a different goal in gambling. So, never generalize the meaning of "gambling for fun".

Sure, no one is happy if he gets a loss. Losing money always hurts us. However, you can expect to always win, it is something impossible to happen in gambling. Personally, I am always trying to enjoy it whether it ends up with losing or winning. When it ends up winning, I'm happy about the prize. When I get a loss, I am trying to accept my loss and still enjoy it because I have played the game with my best effort. I must say gamblers would be lying if they keep on telling that’s okay to lose as long as they are making fun in gambling. It’s okay if the losses are not consistent, otherwise it would be a waste of time and money gambling without making any good returns. So I would always chose to say that gambling for me is fun and enjoyable if I get the best of it, profiting and making fun. But I would not expect to see profits all the time as it won’t be possible too.
