I gamble for fun, and believe it or not even after I make a profit on my account, I will just leave it there in the casino and use it for next week once I play again. People like us exist, and every time Saturday comes, I already look forward to losing $20 in the casino because I know I won't win anything. Same here. No one would want to gamble in the first place without wanting profits, because for me that’s the initial motivation of a gambler, to play and win. But of course, since gambling is mostly a game of chance, you cannot guarantee profits all the time. That’s when we have to be open both losing and profiting. There will be a different definition for each gambler. as you said in this thread, that many gamblers misunderstood. and as with what you explain in this very long article. however, in truth we cannot force someone to follow what we understand.
To be honest, I personally often say that I gamble just for fun. however, many do not realize the meaning of what I say. because I'm sure, no one cares much about what I say in my post.

for me personally, when referring to gambling for fun it is to casino gambling. yes and why, as we all know, that the probability of winning a bet during a betting session is very small. I can understand it, because casino games prioritize luck. know that in fact, we are staking the same fate as other gamblers. So, I never expected more to get big rewards. especially with limited capital, I play loose without caring about winning or losing. Don't say that I don't like luck, of course I do too.

I think you nailed it here, some people do think they just to past the time but honestly there's that unconscious mind that always tells us that "if I win it's even more fun". If we are doing it for fun then I think that's not gambling or we shouldn't use the word gamble as it sounds not right. For me, to gamble is to take a risk. In my case whenever I play in a casino I expect both things. That is to have fun and also to win a profit. If I didn't win, I will still be fine because I still had fun but if I experience both then the feeling is superb.

Of course, when you play, somehow deep inside, you want to win also.

When you get depressed of your losses, you were either gambling with too high stakes or weren't prepared for loss.

The notion that you gamble without any greed is actually dumb, I've always said I gamble for fun but said fun is not about just playing the game cause if it was, I would've stopped spending money on what possibly could be a free game I could play countlessly for hours. It's the thrill. The thrill of the process and not the end result.

Gambling for fun is the standard phrase I have been using when answering why I gamble so much. Since I am 18 I have been playing all types of casino games and get asked by friends and family from time to time, why I invest so much time and money into gambling. My answer is always the same, I gamble for fun. But like you said, gambling for fun doesn't mean that I am not interested in making a profit and become lucky one day to win a big jackpot. I always play for fun. I actually love gambling, but of course that the ulterior purpose of gambling is always to win and earn some profits as this is the best part of gambling. it's a great way to not add to the stress we get from work. we go to the casino and play for fun. no burden will require us to have to win. playing for fun is great.

The only distinction to be made here really is gambling for fun or gambling as a career. The only people really falling into the second category would be professional skilled people like poker players able to compete at the highest level, who are able to make a consistent profit because they have higher skills than the majority of their opponents or have a knack for reading people. They might be able to grind a profit without necessarily having a fun time of it.

Lately I've read and come across a thread when a poster said something about people just spending more and loving reckless life but I guess that's  only possible after you make a win.

I would say, it depends on every people on how they want to play or enjoy gambling. It's not always making some money or playing with the computer because sometimes one would wish on how to play with real people because of the excitements they feel when everyone is cheering. I do not know about other persons or gamblers out there, but for me, I do not gamble everyday, whether for fun or for profit, but the difference though is that, I could wake up any day, and anytime and decide to gamble for fun, but gambling for profit is something I do strategically, I need to have some vital informations about the game being played as well as the players, this will act as my deciding factor on which team to bet or how to play my game(incase it's a not a sports betting), to get some level of guarantee to profiting at least, I do my homework before going on to gamble for profit.

Gambling for fun especially when you feel bored and you gamble, considering that is for fun. Another factor could be, you gamble because you have free time, or even it could release your stress after your work. But we cannot blame people who are gambling as a way of their living, probably they know already the possible worst outcome but they continue because they love to gamble and they have expertise in it. I get that, and honestly that is the very essence of having fun while gambling—to win more and lose less. However, losses, whether subsequent or not will get to your nerves one way or another and will cause you to lose cool and eventually gamble solely for profit. Which is why expecting less every gamble is a preferred discipline. It rids your brain of the heuristic that you must win to have fun and makes every win fruitful, while losses less mentally straining. The point we're trying to make here with promoting gambling not for profit but for the sake of gambling is to retain as much fun as possible in every game. People will find it harder to remain happy while gambling than to find fun in gambling, which is why I think this is an integral tip.

Indeed you have to make a distinction between gambling for fun and gambling for money. I agree that having fun in gambling does not mean throwing money away without any strategy, but one should get something fun out of the game, not a winning percentage. We understand that someone gambling has its own pleasure, the phase of someone's gambling pleasure is different.

I personally spend time in gambling where if I feel happy in betting, for example: sports betting, Plinko and some interesting slots like Blockchain Megaways and others, I spend a lot in the game, The bottom line: I have my own pleasure to do it. It really feels great when we have our friends play with us in a gambling game.  May it be on the street playing cards against each other or in local casinos where we take pressing the button of slots looking which one is the luckiest person.  During this kind of event, winning is only secondary because we are focused on enjoying the moment with friends.

Reminds me of one time we (my local friends and Indonesian friends) went to a casino after meeting with our Indonesian friends for the first time. Well, that's gambling for you and I understand if that's how you view gambling activities because I have a lot of friends that actually has the very same reasons as you do, and as for them, "why'd you go and playing gamble without a getting some profits on your mind?" which is true because somehow you won't actually go on a gambling game if you don't have any intentions to win and you're just there to waste it.

But for me, I view gambling differently because as for me, gambling is one of the most expensive form of entertainment and when I gamble, I don't do it for money because my aim is to get entertained forget the outside world for a bit and to blow off some steam especially if I'm too stressed. I already said this many times before here, I don't consider my gambling activity as "just" for fun. People think that losing money on gambling is just fine because their argument will be, they are just having fun. They don't realize that those loss amounts in total, in the long run, are now getting bigger and bigger, and still, it's still fun. There's no fun in losing money.

As much as possible, I'm trying my best to at least try keeping my winning streak as always. I know that losing always happened in most cases and since that's always the possible outcome, I don't want to take my gambling activity as fun but rather to always apply a serious approach.

I always read that context on those people that not actually doing gambling so much but the question is, do they really have fun when losing money even if they afford to lose that amount? I really doubt it.

Then I suppose you only gamble in games in which your skill can be a factor and you can either counter the house edge to some extent, as it is the case in sports bets, or you play games where the house edge does not exist, as it is the case in poker, even if when it comes to poker there is a rake which you need to pay on each pot you happen to win.

Gambling for fun to me means gambling because that's what make you feel fun, you don't care if you win or lose but you'll be more happier if you win because who doesn't like free money. When you want to do any activity that make you have fun, you can turn to gambling and doing this isn't any bad at all but you just have to be careful so you don't get addicted and keep losing all your money yet still continue gambling.

While you gamble for fun, you have to understand that you're using real money for this activity and be extra careful of not exceeding your gamble more and driving Into family funds as that's what leave many family into financial crisis.

Gambling for fun for me is indulging oneself to gambling activity without the intention of extending the effect of the session to the next session.  It is gambling having fun and profit is secondary.  It is engaging in an activity that is open to losses and never chase it.  It is an activity that focuses on having fun despite of the profit presents.  It is more like spending our time to have entertainment instead of having a boring moments.  The thrill of winnings sure triggers extra fun but gambling for fun doesn't necessary means aiming for profit.  It is more on testing luck than reaping rewards.

For me it's not testing my luck, it's more like giving me the drive to watch the whole game (mostly sports). It helps me to analyze the game on every corner of it which enhances my bet for the next time they will play.
Without my bet, there's entertainment only and the fun part is not maximized to the extent that I would be cheering like crazy alone in my room. 
Losing is not fun, that's true, but being able to forget it and not chasing losses is a skill. Restraint. There are gamblers who are being dragged by that kind of emotion and get rekt. They become a fool being clouded by their loss and input bets they don't know about.

Of course people will have fun with the bonus they get because it's not using their money but a gift from the casino. Here Is What Gambling For Fun Mean To Me
To me, gambling for fun simply means - gambling, with hopes of making profit, but with the consciousness that if the profit does not come, I choose not to react negatively to the loss, or allow the loss way me down or make me feel bad, I just focus/put/fix my mind on the fun I had playing the game rather than focus or fix my mind on the money I lost.

If gambling for fun means gambling without any need or hope of making profit, why throw away or waste my money then? I would just put the game in a demo mood and play - I believe a lot of casinos have this feature.
But like I explained above, gambling for fun for me is not gambling with no interest in making profit, in gambling for fun, I hope to make profit, but I just consciously don't make the profit a priority, this means that if at the end of the game, I make a profit, i am happy, because I hoped for it, but if I don't make profit, I am not sad, I am not unhappy, because it wasn't a priority, and for me not to feel sad, I get my mind off the money lost and focus on the fun I had playing the game - Being happy is a choice, I hope we all know this.

I think gambling can have two sides because some people will only play and gamble for fun they even play while putting in no money or will place small bets because the game and not playing for the money, while some other people will enter the gambling world and play the games while their goal is to earn money and they sometimes even don't enjoy the game itself.

i am totally agree with you. i am started gambling as a fun purposes like as my first deposit was 10$ in 3 years before.
btw interesting thing i made it 80$ by gradually,
after that i am too attracted and i take it seriously,

yeah, sure it can be frustrating if you keep losing but this kind of reaction will depend on every person. I am not gonna lie and say I don't feel frustrated if I lose continuously but that doesn't mean the overall experience is not fun.

Over the course of playing gambling especially when you are playing slots, there will be times when you feel frustrated because of the event when the reel is obviously going to bonus round then all of a sudden, it won't or when you end up needing 1 more point to trigger a bonus round but failed because the wild thrown on the reels was placed on the area where it will not trigger a connection.

Absolutely true, the behavior of a gambler should have towards gambling when it is considered as fun may be different from that when the gambler takes it seriously. When a gambler loses, he or she will focus on that loss and want to gamble more with the goal of getting it back which would have no way of being considered as fun. In my opinion, a gambler can control himself after losing, he can really consider gambling as fun. It is usually a difficult task which is not possible for the most of the gamblers.

Like you have said in some part of your post. The fun in gambling is just that you have zero off your mind to waste the money and you won't express regret that the money staked out didn't bring profit. But such money that you want to use will be money that you can afford but that doesn't mean people don't stake out their last money at a time. The greedy people do that. They want to regain all loses at same time.

This is the worst part of too much having fun, you are being carried away and you tend to gamble more without realizing that you are already losing a lot of money. I gamble to have fun as well but I have my limitation so I believe everyone should have a limit as well because too much gambling is not ok and its not about fun anymore probably you are hoping for more.

@Scripture I think who want to genuinely catch fun doesn't consider mostly losses but the fun that is in it. . The major thing about gambling for fun is that it will be with affordable money or lesser money. Take this season as example, many people played certain games for fun especially older people or family people. Soon you will realize that it's no longer fun if you are losing decent amount of money because of your gambling activities, I feel you with that same experienced, if you are new to gambling and you experienced that feeling of winning, you will think that you can simply repeat that outcome and before you realized you already lose a lot of money.

Gambling can be considered as fun by a very small percentage of gamblers. These gamblers never mind about the win/loss as they've got more to spend. Indeed, I don't gamble regularly, but I feel like I always want to win and not lose my money. I think if the concept of pleasure is not suitable for all. I'm sure that serious true gamblers will rely on their earnings through activities like this. If all gamblers were just the concept of fun then I think a lot of casinos would go bankrupt. Some countries have legalized gambling activities, so I think they are not just having fun. Even some of those countries have been asking for taxes from that gambling.
