Gambling For Fun - What Does This Mean To You?

I thought I was the only one on board this ship and perspective of view towards gambling for fun.
Lately I've read and come across a thread when a poster said something about people just spending more and loving reckless life but I guess that's  only possible after you make a win.
I have always told people that no matter what your intentions are towards gambling, the upmost priority is to make profits and there is always a feeling associated with winning expecially in from either gambling or whatever business one does.
I'm on the affirmative side of OP and I stand with him to agree that, making profit unconsciously without paying attention to your losses is actually gambling for fun.

Through the forum, you'll see many tell that to gamble for fun and that's for real. We should gamble for fun, but no one will stop you to take that money whenever you win.

Apart from that tip of gambling for fun, many will say that don't gamble for money because you'll barely get it.

The purpose of gambling isn't just for fun but mostly to get as much as winning as you can. That's why many people are gambling.

It's also fun to win at most times and take the money with you.

@boyptc I guess it depends on how you define it. if your goal is to get as many wins as possible, that is your right. however it does not represent the voice of gamblers as a whole as you say.cbecause you claim, why do so many people gamble.

everyone who gambles, whether novice or veteran. one thing is for sure, everyone wants to win and no one can deny it. but really, if the goal is that. I will repeat what you said, many will say do not gamble for money because you will hardly ever get it. because of that, someone has to change their way of thinking about gambling. in fact, one has to define your definition of gambling and what your goals are for gambling. if it goes like you say, then it's not for fun.

but if you get another answer, you can say that your purpose in gambling is for fun. if you are lucky, then consider it part of the bonus. if you lose, get rid of your mind to make a deposit again because it will lead to even bigger losses.

I do agree with you. Gambling for fun to me is akin to playing soccer with my buddies. It is friendly game. We aim to have fun but also play to win. And when we don't we do not beat ourselves up about it. We instead banter, laugh and go have some drinks. When I lose in gambling, I feel bad because no one plays to lose but then it lasts for a few minutes and I get back to my normal self.

I do not want to repeat what I replied to your post yesterday about the same topic in other thread as I agreed with your understanding about what is gambling for fun.
Other things that I want to add is that gambling for fun means:
- we wont be affected negatively no matter what would be the result or our gambling.
- we wont force ourselves to recover when we are on losing moment
- we cant start and stop as we wish in the right time

If gambling for fun means gambling without any need or hope of making profit, why throw away or waste my money then? I would just put the game in a demo mood and play - I believe a lot of casinos have this feature.

I would say, it depends on every people on how they want to play or enjoy gambling. It's not always making some money or playing with the computer because sometimes one would wish on how to play with real people because of the excitements they feel when everyone is cheering. There are times you just want to feel how was the feeling of playing against real people instead of playing it all by yourself versus the computer, if you want to try the demo mode.

Gambling is always for fun but most people are driven by their greed because of how the house would make an offer that's tempting if you win.

I think it depends on how much budget you set just for fun, but I'm pretty sure it's no more than $50/day. If you consistently stick to a $50/day budget for gambling then I believe you will never be happy if you lose but you will eventually become a problem gambler.

So far $10/day seems like too much to spend on gambling due to the poor economy, but I'm seriously wondering if any of us gamble daily and have $10/day as a budget?

I do not know about other persons or gamblers out there, but for me, I do not gamble everyday, whether for fun or for profit, but the difference though is that, I could wake up any day, and anytime and decide to gamble for fun, but gambling for profit is something I do strategically, I need to have some vital informations about the game being played as well as the players, this will act as my deciding factor on which team to bet or how to play my game(incase it's a not a sports betting), to get some level of guarantee to profiting at least, I do my homework before going on to gamble for profit.

But gambling for fun is not possibly every day thing, but even if I have to do it everyday, then it must be really a low amount, $10 dollar is sure to much to gamble away every day, but like I said in the OP, gambling for fun does not mean throwing away money, one could still win good amount of money in the process.

^There are too many of them and your idea was definitely right.
Gambling for fun especially when you feel bored and you gamble, considering that is for fun. Another factor could be, you gamble because you have free time, or even it could release your stress after your work. But we cannot blame people who are gambling as a way of their living, probably they know already the possible worst outcome but they continue because they love to gamble and they have expertise in it. Each of us has different insights towards gambling and we respect of what their decisions, as long as we know that gambling is for fun.

I personally think that the phrase "gambling for fun" is widely misunderstood by many gamblers.
They think gambling for fun means gambling without any interest or hunger for profit, no body enjoys loosing money, and this in the other way simply means, loosing money is never fun, but how we choose to react is what makes the difference...

To me, gambling for fun simply means - gambling, with hopes of making profit, but with the consciousness that if the profit does not come, I choose not to react negatively to the loss, or allow the loss way me down or make me feel bad, I just focus/put/fix my mind on the fun I had playing the game rather than focus or fix my mind on the money I lost.

But like I explained above, gambling for fun for me is not gambling with no interest in making profit, in gambling for fun, I hope to make profit, but I just consciously don't make the profit a priority, this means that if at the end of the game, I make a profit, i am happy, because I hoped for it, but if I don't make profit, I am not sad, I am not unhappy, because it wasn't a priority, and for me not to feel sad, I get my mind off the money lost and focus on the fun I had playing the game - Being happy is a choice, I hope we all know this.

The only distinction to be made here really is gambling for fun or gambling as a career. The only people really falling into the second category would be professional skilled people like poker players able to compete at the highest level, who are able to make a consistent profit because they have higher skills than the majority of their opponents or have a knack for reading people. They might be able to grind a profit without necessarily having a fun time of it.

Gambling as a career? No way.

You can have fun playing gambling as you may lose some games and win more games but how can anyone make gambling a profession?  You have no certainty that you will win in gambling, therefore it is too risky to depend your life only on gambling.

Even the most experienced gamblers have no control over the gambling results as everything is dependent on luck.

I get that, and honestly that is the very essence of having fun while gambling—to win more and lose less. However, losses, whether subsequent or not will get to your nerves one way or another and will cause you to lose cool and eventually gamble solely for profit. Which is why expecting less every gamble is a preferred discipline. It rids your brain of the heuristic that you must win to have fun and makes every win fruitful, while losses less mentally straining. The point we're trying to make here with promoting gambling not for profit but for the sake of gambling is to retain as much fun as possible in every game. People will find it harder to remain happy while gambling than to find fun in gambling, which is why I think this is an integral tip.

Indeed you have to make a distinction between gambling for fun and gambling for money. I agree that having fun in gambling does not mean throwing money away without any strategy, but one should get something fun out of the game, not a winning percentage. Then betting for money is more likely to make the gambler do some analysis, but certainly not on a game based on luck.

The point is to have fun, you don't have to gamble every day with a predetermined budget. But that can be done at any time as long as they enjoy the game, not the success of winning the bet. I tend to feel good about betting a few dollars on certain football games, just as a way of making it livelier.

We understand that someone gambling has its own pleasure, the phase of someone's gambling pleasure is different.

I personally spend time in gambling where if I feel happy in betting, for example: sports betting, Plinko and some interesting slots like Blockchain Megaways and others, I spend a lot in the game, The bottom line: I have my own pleasure to do it. The matter of defeat is not a detrimental element and victory is also not a pride for me, but I enjoy the game, sometimes I forget that it's already morning, when I bet, I forget about life's problems, my mind is a little more relaxed and I enjoy gambling.

I think there are some people out there who try to find a way to make profit from gambling and they are the ones who have some trouble. Lets be real and realize that we are talking about something that is very rare and not that common when we are talking about people who have no idea what they are doing.

There is no way of making money from gambling if we are not talking about the house edge, because house edge is the thing that makes sure that you are going to end up losing money and that's not really a good thing, it's really a difficult thing and I personally do not believe that it would be a good solution to your money problems, in fact would be adding to your money problems.

I think you haven't experienced the happiness that brought to you while you are playing , like both of your opponents are laughing because of the cards or the gameplay even you will lose you will still be happy. This is the kind of happiness that it brought to us even losses but when we are really serious towards playing it will be leading to sad or anger if we lose. That is why play with your friends because even if you lose you still having fun playing games

It really feels great when we have our friends play with us in a gambling game.  May it be on the street playing cards against each other or in local casinos where we take pressing the button of slots looking which one is the luckiest person.  During this kind of event, winning is only secondary because we are focused on enjoying the moment with friends.

Reminds me of one time we (my local friends and Indonesian friends) went to a casino after meeting with our Indonesian friends for the first time. (We first met them here at Bitcointalk.org) We don't care about the losses but the moment spent together.  We had so much fun even though we lost a good amount of money playing in that casino.

in my opinion if the person is not a professional gambler, someone who lives from betting or casinos, someone who uses the profits from betting or casinos to be able to live in the real world then that person is playing for fun, that's simple, just people who are in the world of betting or casinos and need to make a profit to pay bills in the real world and who can be called professional gamblers, and professional gamblers even create books, give courses, create telegram channels for people to follow the news they post, they constantly give tips on a game, this is the life of a professional gambler, they even give lectures.

Your explanation sounds funny. If you call it wasting of time it means you were not having fun at the first place.

I am gambling to win.  I do not have the luxury to gamble my money for leisure purposes.  Gambling offer both fun and profit so I think why not take advantage of it.  I think gambling for fun without taking profit as consideration is just a waste of resources.  I agree, if we want only fun and not profit, then why bet with real money?  There is a demo option where we can have fun playing with fun token or play money.

The fun in gambling is just that you have zero off your mind to waste the money and you won't express regret that the money staked out didn't bring profit. But such money that you want to use will be money that you can afford but that doesn't mean people don't stake out their last money at a time. The greedy people do that. They want to regain all loses at same time.

yeah, sure it can be frustrating if you keep losing but this kind of reaction will depend on every person. I am not gonna lie and say I don't feel frustrated if I lose continuously but that doesn't mean the overall experience is not fun.

We can't deny the fact that, we're also aiming for the profit and that's the part of "having fun" in gambling.
