so far this is my short list:

1. ETH
2. ADA
3. BNB

Sorry to burst the bubble but there is no special in my list, I'm not into the whole hype projects or meme coins. I would rather put my money on coins that have proven itself though and solid like those top 3 in my list.

Trader loves volatility. Also you can play future trading which can benefit up and down of the market. But for some long term trader or position guys, then doing a dca is the best way to beat inflation and price down. As you can accumulate huge volume or quantity everytime its down then you are lowering your risk. But of course the high peak bought are really painful. But if you are a long term holder this is nothing.

Just as you mentioned, 2022 was a very challenging year for most of us in the cryptocurrency space and altcoin was the worst hit by that wave of market crisis, most especially the collapse of terra Luna and FTX crisis that rocked the market and affected it in the most negative ways.
But in the year 2023, I will be concentrating more on Ethereum since its risk level is lower than other coins in the market, even though ethereum also witnesses market decline but it still remains the most reliable and stable among them all.
Since I want to limit my risk to just a single altcoin this year and a large part of my portfolio in Bitcoin.

I see these type of thread being recycled every year, the point remains same. If you are looking for profits, like everyone, you have to focus on old charts not the fact that a new calender started. If the old charts have shown good upstroke from every downstroke it means that the support it good and the coin has chances to recover from a bear run.

Every year so many new coins get launched but few actually make it, rather none actually, in my honest opinion.

The top 5 altcoins can be your target to accumulate, except the forked coins. This is generic but it works and hence it gets followed by most altcoin traders.

Don't jump into recently launched coins, watch them for a few years, then buy it.

Asking such a question in here is absolutely legit because that is the reason why this forum exists. If you are really a total newbie regarding cryptos, then be warned. Some of the answers you will receive if you ask a question like "what project is good to buy now" or "what project will rise in the future", will probably not be neutral answers to your question but just shill-answers of people that want you to buy the token that they are also invested in so they can dump on you.
As others in this thread already said, i think it could be a good move to buy some of the established projects now, because we are in a bear market. If you are buying now and are willing to hold a few years, then you should be able to make a nice profit.

Permit me to say that you have a genuine  mindset for coming up with such a reply. It's quite true that some people will only try to lure others (especially newbies) into investing in the same project with them, not because the project has good potentials but simply because, they have alterior motive. But some will also be very sincere and neutral. I will try as much as possible to follow the right steps. Thank you.

I'd honestly spend the time to study up on up-and-coming projects, you can probably take note of them from various news sources or even advertised here by fellow forum members. I wouldn't necessarily trust it to be a good investment though, it's still going to end up as you deciding what to invest in.

If you want safe options, the few altcoins that have survived to this date could be an option, such as ETH. Most would be in a downtrend right now since in general the market follows what the Bitcoin market does, but instead of deciding it based on price, take a look at how the coin has performed throughout the years instead.

If are seeking market assurance then choose Ethereum and Bitcoin. In this way, you make yourself so easy and with no stress. I was not sure but 2023 is not still a tough year for crypto which probably we can see more altcoins dropping.
You can do research but I suggest that you focus on the top coins in the market before jumping to the bottom or to new projects to avoid losing your money from investing in worthless coins. I was not an expert on this but I believe that my experience in crypto for several years gives me some idea of how to choose coins/projects to invest in. Sometimes we use our instinct.

I believe that there are still long months of bear market ahead of us, so there will still be some time to buy alts. However, if someone has the funds and is focused on a long-term investment, I think this is a good time to invest and for DCA in the event of further price declines. The sad part is that every year there are tens of thousands of people who think they missed their chance of making huge amounts of money from bitcoin and instead go for the small time stuff and they hope that they could make 100x from there. People still look at crypto as a get rich quick method and they still want to invest a thousand dollars and make half a million dollars from it.

And yes it is true that during the bull period there are some situations where you would have made that kind of money but that is a rare situation and not common at all. I do not think that it should be anything like that at any given moment, because it wouldn't have worked out for you and me, just a few rare people, and we should look for bitcoin instead.

A good approach with minimal risk. Indeed, a bearish trend implies more selective investing in so-called blue chips. These projects have a very strong fundamental component and there is much more confidence in them than in relatively new projects that do not have a strong enough community and price support. Majority were in favour of bitcoin for what it have come across over the years. Next to bitcoin we can add a big list of altcoins, but the recent issues with different altcoins have kept people away from prioritising altcoins for the high profitability.

In all market condition it is good to buy altcoins that are very minimal in value, because if lucky the user gets good return. If not, the investment won't hurt as we'll be able to receive a good volume of tokens for small amount.

I think investing in new project right now and find the ones which have quite the potential could become great decision, even though as you said don't invest too much money in it, but sometimes these new coins are the ones that gonna make you rich considering the tremendous returns that it could give, even though I do agree, risk management is essential and investing in new coins is could incur losses, still, I think there's nothing wrong in investing in new coins in generating good returns.

You can even pick some major coins like bitcoin and ethereum caused by their price as been falling so hard to the bottom. In another case altcoin looks like a promising choice too but it will be involving higher risk compared with another coin like bitcoin.

I personally prefer to pick that something like altcoin even that can be considered as a gamble but high risk high return will always become my target.

I think that mostly of people have altcoins in their wallet.that's gonna be a huge chance for the next bullish season. you shall not miss opportunity to buy altcoins at the bottom price.

Good potential for what? If what you are looking for are massive profits this is not really the moment to look for something like this, concentrate on dollar cost averaging and position yourself on good coins which will do well during the next bull market.

And once you have obtained good profits with them during the bull market you can decide if it is worth for you to invest in some risky altcoins at the time, but this is not a decision which can be taken now, as I am convinced the majority of the new coins which will do well during the next bull run are yet to be created.

I agree with you, I also bought some of the Altcoins that you mentioned above, because, in terms of utility, market capitalization and ecosystem have been pretty good so far, I also wanted to recommend the metaverse coin but as far as I can analyze it includes coin hype the same as NFT (worse). But the most recommended for Altcoin in 2023 is ETH where The Merge developer team has successfully transitioned Ethereum from proof of work to proof of stake in 2022, and the most impressive thing is that The Merge managed to complete the task without any obstacles. so in my opinion ETH is highly recommended if you want to invest in Altcoins.
