A pretty reasonable reason in my opinion is because Ronaldo owns a minority stake in Al Nassr, so maybe that factor is what made him protest Benzema move a little, and another reason I heard was that Benzema was indeed targeted by Al Nassr to be bought from the start, but Benzema chose to go to Al Hilal, which I myself don't know the exact reason. Without Cristiano Ronaldo, there were very little people who watched Saudi Professional League matches on television globally and it's the same with MLS years ago without Messi. Effects from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on Saudi Professional League and MLS are huge, from increasing popularity of these leagues, to growths of television watching rates and more.

And, as I said "for sure it has good numbers in Asia", and India is in Asia, isn't it? Also, India doesn't have an appealing league, so it's normal that football fans would watch some foreign league instead. In Europe very few people care about the SPL mainly because everyone cheers for a football team, not for a single player. I noticed that outside of Europe and South America many people prefer to follow a specific player rather than a team, that probably has to do with the lack of identity since they don't support any local team. I prefer to think that nobody is bigger than a football club but of course it depends on the case. In Saudi Arabia Ronaldo can be bigger than the club, not in Europe.
