Saudi pro league has definitely improve in decades by attracting many high profile of players and investing heavily in the teams, facilities and infrastructure how ever signing big players doesn't automatically make  the Saudi pro league comparable to Europe top competition yet league are usually judged by over so many squad quality. Christino Ronaldo performances for his shows that he still has quality at the highest level being successful with the national team and scoring regularly for his team are both achievement that deserves he should be given some credit on that.

Portugal players were on high spirit for their various clubs and they also performed pretty well for their clubs this season, so I totally agree with you that Portugal is one of the favorite countries in this World Cup, even though few teams are stronger than Portugal, it can't stop Portugal from winning this year's World Cup, what Portugal needs is just to remain focus and keep their head on the game and they could end up winning the World Cup because they have the squad depth to do that.

Sure, Ronaldo is going to score in this first match, he's probably going to score the opening goal of the team and if he does it is a good sign and morale which will propel them higher for the bigger challenges. They will be meeting with DR Congo on the 17th and I even think they are lucking to be in Group K as it looks less competitive than other teams which have got stronger teams with more formidable squads. The Portugal's squad this tournament looks very tough and competitive but I hope they are able to make good use of it and not waste it on inconsistent moves.
