[Guide] How to Use Quote to clipboard

Some time ago I often quoted from old threads but have a trouble when the thread is locked, so that I just input the link post without don't know how the quote. But after I installed BPIP Chreome extension, I just click the button if want to prove the post.

how to use, After installed BPIP extension, that Quote from locked threads: is set by default so you don't need to to setup again



How to use Quote to clipboard?.

1. go to locked thread, then click Quote to clipboard, after fetching and change to be Copied to clipboard,



2 , then go to post you want to write and ctrl+v or just paste it. you will have the quote from the locked thread, easy.

It's a guide for beginner, I know out there many senior know how to use it without installed third party.

When vast majority of people doesn't understand about a particular thing, it's really helpful to create "guide" in order to help them to understand. But creating a guide when it's just only 2 steps and even a 12 years old kids already know how to create social media accounts, it's really pointless.

I don't see any reason if someone quote a post in locked thread with direct link like this.

I'll add, for the first time, this seems to have been well explained o_e_l_e_o. And as a date converter, you can also use this site. https://timestamp.online/
Not everyone loves and trusts extensions, so self-quoting for the incredulous is the best way out.

It's still do-able with a minor work around which will take less than 20 seconds or so.

1) Navigate to the post you want to quote and click on its title. The page will reload with that post's message number in the URL (the last 8 digits). Copy these digits, but don't close this window yet.

2) In the thread you want to post the quoted message in, click on "quote" on any post. Once that reply page loads, paste your copied 8 digits over the 8 digits in the URL after "quote=". Hit enter to reload your reply page with the locked post quoted.

3) Go back to the window from step 1 containing the message you want to quote. Copy the 7 digits after "topic=". Go back to the window from step 2 containing your new reply, and paste these 7 digits over the 7 digits after "link=topic=" on the top line of your reply. This is to ensure the quote links back to the correct thread if someone clicks on it.

yes sure if the developer is outside the forum.
and I trust them because they were also explained on his thread

We don't log your IP address when the extension contacts our server but if you don't trust us you should use Tor or VPN. The extension can technically read any data from your BitcoinTalk session, including your PMs, but it doesn't do so. It collects user IDs from the page you're looking at - e.g. a list of posts in a thread - and sends that list of IDs to bpip.org to get info about those users, and only does so if you turn the optional features on (these features are off by default).

The extension works even if you browse BitcoinTalk.org without being logged in. The source code is not obfuscated and can be examined by anyone with sufficient JavaScript knowledge using developer tools built into most browsers. Same tools can also be used to check network traffic to/from the extension.

but it's very effective when login if not Quote to clipboard is disappear.

This is very helpful, I have been finding it difficult as well to quote a thread that has been locked, although what I does is to copy link and include it in the post or screenshot it as upload it with imgur, before copying the link to my post.
What I will do is to download it.

Actually I have never used any extension for this forum. So maybe I'd be interested to give it a try this time. while regarding how to quote a locked quote, I haven't tried it manually. because the quotes that I have quoted so far are always from topics that have not been locked. (possible). so I don't know if it's a hard enough thing to do. Apart from this extension, are there any other extensions that can be added to this forum? and of course for other uses.

I just reminding it for everyone because I have ever seen someone still use link for quote locked thread. maybe this little thing can be missed because this has not been discussed for a long time.

when you want to quote locked topic manually you will hard to calculate it because use Unix Time. in this case you will get double work, put the quote and converting unix time.

Another way to quote posts on the locked thread (manually):

- Open the post link you want to quote (not the thread link).

- Quote any post that is still active. For example, I take by quoting your post:



- On the screenshot above, change the code in red box A with the code in red box 1, then press Enter.



- Finally, change the code in the red box B with the code in red box 2.

Here are the results of the quote:

When you log into an exchange, yield platform, or other site, and it says that you have a balance of "1 BTC" or "1 USD", this does not actually mean that you have 1 BTC or 1 USD. Rather, it means that the company showing you this balance owes you that money. In other words, you've given a loan to the company. Maybe the company will pay you back, but history is littered with defunct companies which accepted deposits and were widely trusted for years, but which ended up not paying back their depositors in the end.

To the greatest extent possible, you should always avoid keeping BTC (or anything else) in online accounts. This is especially important right now because a very large exchange went bankrupt recently; this has already caused a contagion effect which has taken down other companies which accept deposits, and this contagion may continue to spread and affect more companies.

Ideally, you should keep as large a percentage as possible of your crypto assets in a wallet where only you control the private keys. Electrum for Android or desktops is one good option. For iOS, there's BlueWallet. If you have a large variety of different crypto assets that you need to store, there's Unstoppable wallet. If you have never used your own trustless wallet before, using a mobile app is probably safer than using a desktop app. An even safer option, which you should definitely consider if you have a lot of crypto assets, is to use a hardware wallet such as Trezor or Ledger.

Also, note that many altcoins, tokens, and DeFi projects are either fundamentally centralized and therefore about as risky as online wallets, or they are still potentially vulnerable to the recent wave of insolvencies due to the way that they're designed.

Click the link in the title (Quote from: ...) to ensure that the post quote is correct.

Another way to quote posts on the locked thread (manually):

I used to do same but since theymos updated quoting using AJAX I'm using another solution to quote lock threads.

y=is your session link

x is easy to get

y is a bit tricky
- Right click on the any quote button on any post and copy link address


- Past it anywhere and it will look like https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=post;quote=61608770;topic=5434644.0;num_replies=8;sesc={some big string}
- the string after sesc= is your y

- Replace these ids here in {x} and {y} https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=quotefast;quote={x};sesc={y};xml
- Your locked quote is ready in XML, with timestamp and correct link to the topic



y (sesc=) is your session id don't post or share it any where
