I will not use the browser wallets for large amounts.... or to store my coins for a long time. If you regularly need to pay for something online in Crypto currencies, then a browser wallet will be convenient ....but I will store my coins in a hardware wallet and then transfer some small amounts of coins to the browser wallet for quick access.

It all depends what you are going to do and how you do it... I used to have some coins in online wallets to "tip" people ...but those services are long gone... because micro tipping with Bitcoin is too expensive.... it might run better on the Lightning Network.  Roll Eyes

Since the introduction of wallet connects,  a lot of development for wallet extensions has erupted, as the rise of web browser wallet have increased and the security to thos time have not been really been a thing of concern.

But shortly that may change since the hype of web wallets is dominating the scene, and very soon hackers will start paying attention to exploiting the system, but if the web wallet proves them wrong it will become a reliable means of storage for crypto assets.

Never used Opera which is why I cannot comment on whether their wallet is safe or not, but it's still a positive step forward for the crypto world which is what truly matters at the end of the day.

At this rate, a day might come when Chrome could offer similar features which could help popular crypto like BTC get one step closer to going mainstream.
I used Opera on my mobile and they started the cryptocurrency inbuilt wallet journey 2years ago if I could remember. Despite the movement being a positive move toward crypto it is still never a good idea to use the wallet as storage because mobile and web wallets are always vulnerable to attack.
Having said that, the Opera browser dev team seems to be crypto enthusiasts though.

The only browser that I have heard about this topic is Opera GX Browser. Probably the target audiences of this type of cryptocurrency wallet is for casual and general cryptocurrency users who just want to hold Bitcoin and that's all, although probably they have another better options even before they knew about this type of kind of built-in wallet on web browser.

Still how they manage to make it secure is differ between each user, but for browsers case then the risk of something bad happens is really high, where almost of your activities in the internet are using browsers.

I'm using Opera browser for quite long time. Suddenly came across the tab Crypto Wallet. This was something unexpected and going through it, we were able to see the option available to create our own wallet. Have anyone came across Web browsers having Crypto Wallet other than Opera and Brave browser. Are these wallets safe?
Web browser is less safe as compare to other wallet like Trust wallet and Safepal. In 2021 they big data hack was happened with Chrome, so in this situation your paraphrase and private key can be stolen. There is high chances of Malicious attack in case of web browser wallet so I recommend to create only new wallet here and don't hold big amount here

Now many browser are working on this and Brave Bowser also support wallet. Mises browser is one of the best browser which has so many partnership with crypto related projects included Wallets, web3, Dex, Metaverse and built-in function and I used this for airdrops and small transaction purpose. For holding I am using Hardware wallet which is very safe

How long exactly it is @OP? But if you ask me, I am using opera browser since I was still young and I don't have a desktop computer or a laptop that time, just only a nokia phone. I also use some tricks to browse the internet for free. But that won't be possible without the help of a modified opera browser or also called as opera mini handler.

Moving on, it seems you are late to discover the crypto feature inside the opera and other web browsers. They are already there ever since last year/s but the numbers of them can still grow when cryptos became more popular. I never get tempted to use them anyway because I think they aren't safe as the wallets where I can HodL my keys.

Its still a good move by them on which they are integrating out on making some online wallet but just like the rest been saying that this isnt something that you could trust confidently which i would really be either
be trusting into those known and popular ones rather than storing up your coins on a wallet which it isnt really been that much heard of but its good that it is there which you could make it out as an option.
It would really be depending on how someone would really be dealing it out whether they could take up some risk or not but for me then its better to stick on what you have been get used to.
Stick on where you do feel safe and where you had been using for ages.

Have anyone came across Web browsers having Crypto Wallet other than Opera and Brave browser. Are these wallets safe?
I think Opera is the first browser to integrate a native crypto wallet and is able to explore WEB 3.0 and for user data privacy it is a good option, but frankly, I see that Chrome and Firefox are the best for me and I can install any browser extension for crypto wallets on them smoothly as they support a lot of papular web wallets, for Brave and Opera I have only used them for about years, although they have good features, they are not as popular as Chrome and Firefox, so I did not rely on them mainly, and for me, I see that browser wallet, in general, are not a safe way to save money, so hardware and software wallets are the best for that.

I wouldn't consider it safe if it's not open-source and transparent enough for anyone to review its codes and resolve issues.
But I'm not against people using it, one of the reasons for this is that it seems to be non-custodial, right? And it's a regulated centralized browser that could be penalized if anything goes wrong with people's assets, with possibility of compensation and benefit of customer care service

I did not know this but that is because I do not use it. If this is true then it is not news at all but I agree that there are better options out there but not other browsers. Wallets should not exist online and having them in browsers is one of the worst things. The browser often gets exploited and this is one of the biggest security risks you could have. operating systems at least have good security and only certain ways to compromise them but a browser with javascript is easy.

Yes, that is right. Several web browsers enabling users to conveniently store, manage, and spend their digital assets right from the browser. Users now have easier access to and use of cryptocurrencies because they are spared the hassle of creating a separate wallet or installing an additional plugin. As the use of cryptocurrencies increases, it is anticipated that this trend toward the incorporation of crypto wallets inside web browsers will spread. I haven't used opera mini wallets and can't assure whether it's safe or not. Use with caution.

As the use of cryptocurrencies increases, it is anticipated that this trend toward the incorporation of crypto wallets inside web browsers will spread. I haven't used opera mini wallets and can't assure whether it's safe or not. Use with caution.
It is not safe. Any wallet that requires a online connection is not safe. You can optionally move your wallet online to send btc but it should not be a requirement and I do not think that you should rely on a third party that is connected online by generating the private key online. That is a big security issue and I think a lot of people will get hurt by this eventually. We need to stand against it and get the word out to not store your btc in online wallets. This is no different then storing btc in a exchange.

I am not familiar with any of the Smartphone web browsers offering inbuilt wallets but as far as the concern is PC I think Opera is providing these features even in Smarphones for the extension service many of the crypto users use the kiwi browser. I would say for the extension users and Browser users that funds are not safe on browsers as browsers are the spots that are most active even all-time active and connected with the internet so attacks might crack your funds down.

Well, it's maybe could be used to store some crypto change you use to shop online. Certainly not for your main stash. I personally wouldn't store a single sat in such a wallet. I don't see any advantages if compared to a "normal" software wallet like Electrum.

Definitely not a good idea to even think about storing crypto on browser enabled wallets. Seems like a recipe for disaster, don’t even consider it. Use cold storage or Electrum, Bitcoin Core etc. Nobody should store their wealth in a hot wallet, there are too many attack vendors to ward off. Your stash needs to be offline, on a paper wallet or a safer wallet like Electrum or Btc Core.

Wise steps to take actions that are safer from big risks later. Good things are usually prone to being attempted to take the funds that you have accumulated so far. be careful with all of this. good thing to learn wisely about ever-increasing development.

Use electrum as a hot wallet connected to the internet then you will not be hurt because you do not own the private keys to these web browser wallets. I do not care if you are only storing $1 move them out and get a safe wallet that you own the private key and seed. In a few years when a lot of people are using these web wallets there is going to be a "hack" or some big event where a lot of people lose their money. DO NOT be one of them.

I was aware of the Opera Crypto browser, but I had no idea that they had integrated a crypto wallet into the default version of their browser. I haven't used Opera for a long time, this might be reason enough to give it another try.

I used opera way back 4 years ago, but it doesn't have such features connected to a cryptocurrency wallet. Furthermore, web browser wallets have a high average chance of being hacked.

And most of the time web browsers need to be updated because if you don't update them right away there is a chance for hackers to get in and steal sensitive information, and so on.

So for me, I won't use that, instead of using that, like you I would prefer the hardware wallet no matter how expensive it is, and at least it's safe.

Crypto wallet has been added to Opera since 2018, but I found out about the existence of a built-in crypto wallet in this browser later. Well, I don’t know if it’s worth using these wallets, including in the Brave browser. For me, there is no need for this and I would not take risks once again when there are proven and reliable wallets, like electrum.

I was wondering, do these built-in wallets work with hardware wallets? If the answer is yes, then that would remove the security issue.
