How does the Davis cup work here, I see J Struff lost the opening game for team Germany leaving the work all in the hands of Zverev who is currently leading by a set up... but since this will be tied for Germany and Argentina, does this mean Zverev plays winners of team Argentina in trying to get a winner??

If Zverev wins, they will be tied at 1-1 and the winner will be determined in the doubles match.
In the doubles match, Molteni and Zeballos will play for Argentina and Krawietz and Puetz will play for Germany.

It wore the players out. The best ones often had to play 2 matches, some of them also doubles, and they were best of 5 and not best of 3 sets like now.
I still agree that the previous format was much better, it was also more appreciated by the players. Ultimately it all comes to money though - when the top players have too many matches, they will pick the ones that bring more money. Currently it pays more to win an ATP1000 than the Davis Cup, so that is what they will prioritize.

In this format at least some of them will occasionally show up - even now you see both Sinner and Alcaraz withdrawing close to the final. If it was still the old format, no way they'd be playing at all.

Basically, the same thing happens in most sports - the lust for money from organizations and TV companies is too big, leaving players having to choose between (club) career or country.

I don't know what the outcome will be this week, but it's clear we've had a terrible season.

The Brazilian Serie A is difficult to predict. Palmeiras couldn't win against a team that is in a relegation . if they had won they could have pulled level on points with Flamengo, who lost the derby . My rival had the same answer here, but these are points that help avoid elimination from the LMS.

Pretty lame right, their last h2h record last season was 1-1 and few months ago Vitoria managed to get a draw from them so I knew shit could happened but it is pretty hard to choose no on 50-50 questions like that

Laver cup is way better and much more interesting than Davis cup, most of the top players are boycotting it already...

Anyways, Argentina are serving for the first set and I hope they don't just have my hopes up for nothing sake, I'll fancy my chances of Spain reaching the finals without Alcaraz if they face Argentina, and even if they don't, defeating Germany would at least mean I don't get to lose a point on that question too.

When I saw the 1.3 odds for Palmeiras and knew they had to win because they are fighting for the title, I thought they would win at least 2-0, but I was wrong.

I looked at my pure red line in the spreadsheet and knew this can't end well for me, but there is still everything possible for both of us as many different answers are coming. To not fall behind when you get 0/3 in the beginning is lucky I suppose. I need that win after my failed submission last week! That final match between Germany and Argentina was such a sweat. They fumbled three match points in the tiebreaker, and then Argentina also fumbled their match points until Germany got a way back to close it out.

Still, the job is not done as they face Spain in the semis, but it'll be a huge point for some of us if they pull it off.

Yep, it works for me too. Unfortunately, Spain also managed to win against Czechia so they will play against each other in the semi final. Too bad for me that Czechia couldn't win in the couples. Spain won both sets in a tie break so I guess it was a pretty even match. I need Germany to kick Spain out to win much needed point. I have made my piece with getting kicked out from LMS in this round so I'm not even looking at it.

I naively thought they will reach the final due having their best players available, but they managed to lose vs Spain. Luckily I came to my senses, used VAR and changed it to Germany.

I guess after all I'm not the only one starting the round with a complete bloodbath, I'm currently 0/3 and it's not looking good in the Davis cup for either, not just that I'll probably lose this round in my league duel, it's going to take a miracle for me to survive LMS elimination for this round too, everything is just going south and pretty fast too.

Luckily for me Spain managed to qualify but unluckily for me a strong German side is who we have to beat to go to the final. Seems like you and me both went for Italy and Spain. It was a risky choice for sure because Spain wasn't even seeded in this competition but I just had a good feeling. Didn't know both our No 1 and No 2 won't be playing

They have good singles players but would probably lose to most of the doubles. They needed their singles to win every time which is not realistic.
Therefore going with a country with a good couple made sense - but even that turned out to be a 1-ball call with Puetz/Kravietz really struggling yesterday.

I feel good about Germany beating Spain, that would at least get me the advantage in my league duel. Long way to go before the LMS point there though.

Im now in a difficult possition in the davis cup question i went full with Czechia but they lsot against Spain, Trofo has Germany and they won yesterday against Argentina, i see all the games are being super close and the win is give by minors details, i hope Germany lose in the semiffinals so Trofo dont take the point for him.

After submitting my answers, for whatever reason (as I basically never do that) I did a little bit more research and realized that in Czechia-Germany game, latter would have advantage when it comes to pairs, so in the end I decided to go with them.
