American college sport is hugely popular. It's basically the place where you see all the future stars of NBA, NFL etc.
NCAA (or March Madness) is actually one of the more popular basketball tournaments in the world. People from everywhere fill out the brackets every year.

It's very tense, basically gives no room for error to any team participating and still has a part of 'old' basketball charm due to a different set of rules.

You make a valid point and I'm sure that for someone who loves to watch basketball this tournament is great to follow, but I hardly think that I will watch it. As I said earlier, I simply don't like to watch basketball and I don't think that anyone can convince me otherwise.

On another note, now that the scheduling for the round 1 has been published, I see that I'm immediately up against hakan2217 who got relegated from the upper division. I'm not sure how to think about it, but I know that my players will do their best to give him a proper "welcome" to division 3 by securing the first three points in the season

How different are the rules in NCAA? Wasn't aware. Not that I'm familiar with everything basketball... just the basics, like tennis. I do recall watching basketbal recently I think NBA, and I felt like I saw a couple of travelling instances allowed. Is that normal? I thought it just had something to do with no strategic advantage in play.

A lot, actually. They play 2 20-minute halves on a 30-sec possession timer. 5 fouls are out, 3-point line is closer, NCAA allows proper zone to be played so no 3 sec violation rules etc. It's a lot more like oldschool basketball.
NBA is currently a shitshow - travelling is just a part of it. They want to reach 400 points per game and think that is what will keep people coming.

We need qualifying round for sure since there is more than 64 teams in the leagues, 72 to be exact. So it will just mean one less team with direct passage into proper draw and one extra qualifying match.

Haha, knew you were going to mess something up to achieve that- This appears to be fine until LFC_Bitcoin is knocked out by a non-league club 

Maybe we should keep to the old tradition? Newer teams without a division play for passion to understand how the tournament works and maybe take on a few friendly games.

If a player fails to submit answers for more than two rounds of the league before the cup starts, are they also removed from the cup?
Maybe I am missing something, but since the cup is a separate competition, I didn't expect it to be like that.

A non- league club shouldn't be playing in the cup either; they'll 100% lose their slot in the cup too.

We see BSFL as a whole, meaning if you are not engaged enough to post your answers every week we don't want you in any part of the BSFL. Cup and LMS are bonus on the regular BSFL. I think our rules could use a bit of update on this, could be we didn't change them from the times before we had extra competitions inside BSFL.

It was like this every season, in case someone applied for BSFL later on, we included them in the cup. In case we have more than 72 players in the future and not enough to form Division 5 all those clubs will be without league and still part of LMS/Cup. I don't know if you noticed but we also have relegation in Div 4. Meaning team that is part of BSFL can be left without a league for season or more. We introduced that in season 8 when we filled 4 full divisions but enough teams got kicked out so we didn't need to relegate anyone.

What you are saying happens for the teams that join after the cup has already started and we have no way to integrate them into anything until new season starts.

Also I would like to add, only poor clubs with chicken shit managers wouldn't relish to take out a club without league   Perfect opportunity to send out reserve squad out there and show them what the competition is like.

Intention is to be as inclusive as possible while getting rid of the players that don't take BSFL seriously enough. Missing submissions are the part that makes whole experience worse for everyone and something we would like very much to remove completely.

If the Cup has started, the player continues to be a part of the cup regardless of failed submissions in the league.
However, if a player is out of BSFL before the start of the Cup, he will be considered out of the Cup as well.

it’s finally that time again – after a short break, season 9 is kicking off, and for me personally, this is already my second season.
in the first round, i’m playing against the newcomer Bitcoin_Budha, so it’s very hard for me to gauge how strong he is...
as i missed out on the playoffs entirely last season, my goal this season is to reach at least that place.

I forgot to look at the schedule - so I went today and I saw that I'm paired against Slissy.
Nice, let's put him in his place early on in the season and set the tone for the remainder of it with a win.

Same here, same here. I would like for once to start the season with wins and be up, then slowly build a cushion, instead of the other way around, dying early and building a gap to the top LOL
