It is very important to always do your own research before committing your resources in any investment project be it promoted by an influencer or not. In the crypto space, some of the influencers may not even be knowledgeable in what they are promoting. At the end of the day, it is the investor that may lose his or her funds. Particularly for those who are new in the crypto space, so far as it is your hard earned money, why not make out time to do proper research?
This is just common sense, but when greed takes over common sense goes out of the window for most traders, and this is because they want to believe they can invest in a coin recommended by an influencer and make some easy money.

But we know what is actually happening, the ones earning money out of those recommendations are the influencers, as many of them do not care at all about what they are promoting and they have no problem accepting money from obvious scams.

And we are already aware of this kind of trick, using the Twitter platform to scam people has been growing fast and it was very unfortunate that they even use the name of known influencers to get attention and gain trust. For most users who don't have any idea or experience of how the scam trick has been set up, it is very likely they fall into this trap. That is why I ignore following Twitter, not even trust someone on social media unless I know that person personally. Research is very important and this is the only way we can get over from getting scams.

I know it's a bit OT, but this reminded me of the "live Tesla stream" from a hacked YouTube account with 1+ mil subscribers. It was in my YT feed at the beginning of this week, and it was extremely convincing.

Here is one example of kind of string operation done

It amplifies the need for investors to do their complete research before investing in newly launched projects. Even the person you had been admiring or following on social media platforms can be just promoting a scam. So apply some common sense next time instead of blindly following the expert financial advice of these gurus. Another platform, where this abuse frequently happens is YouTube where creators promote number of fake projects.
This is an opener to would-be investors by avoiding this kind of trick imbibed by scammers, imagine investors having confidence  on the personality of the promoter of the said investment unknowingly its fake and Scam, the fact remain that research is the best means of exposing these dubious act of these scammers else new investors will continue to fall for this trick, of course personally I am aware that there are several new methods devised by those fraudulent scammers to scam people, it had been on Twitter for long therefore diligence and public awareness will expose them.

Well, it's not something new. Many influencers are paid to promote a certain projects to lure the investors. Unfortunately many people are still blindly following these influencers and didnt't take time to verify if the information is true. That's why it's easy now to spread lies with the help of these influencers who are only after money and don't have concern to other people that might become a victim of scam.

Thus as an investor we need to do our diligent research and don't just rely on what you read and see on different social media platforms.

Actually, this issue is very common these days because it was easy to manipulate the minds of the viewers on social media, especially if it is coming from known personalities. It was hard to say but I think we should also have to know that Twitter has now become a medium for huge scamming events and a lot of people got tricked and lose their money. And this will give us a lesson why we should be careful in dealing strangers and not easy to trust them especially when talking about money, talking about investment.

I am seeing a lot of influencers (including those that I follow) who promote unreputable NFTs and services, like gambling and exchanges. Clearly, we should not rely on their input, but rather allow ourselves to grow and learn from these fundamental things. Ever since my beginner days, I was told and I keep reminding myself that influencers should not be the reason why we invest on something.

Twitter is such a huge community so no wonder why scammers and fake paid promotions are increasing on this platform because they have the biggest number of targets. That's the reason why we have to be observant and must still do our own research instead of believing in fake promotions. Some people are using this opportunity to earn money regardless of their fake advertisements and promotions so we still need to be careful.

There are countless of influencer who are promoting blindly and they are the one who makes people lose trust on cryptocurrency especially those who became a victim because of their promotions. There are just influencers who doesn't have an ethical way of promoting a project. They only just care about the money and do the job without caring about their followers. I've seen so many youtube vloggers in my country who is promoting newly established casino which I'm a bit skeptical given that it's new and I believe not a professionally built casino. This is somehow kind of alarming given that the trust they have on the whole space of cryptocurrency is declining.

Quite weird that I have not seen a lot of "big influencers" though, but I won't be surprised anyway since the "Cancel" culture of Twitter is really toxic that it could bring down a popular influencer within seconds to few days and these big influencer folks are not going to risk their reputation being ruined due to promoting a scam. Not sure how strict Twitter verification is, but considering that it is now a paid subscription, any other fake or poser out there could get a blue tick and people would believe that they are reputated people.

Kinda alarming as what it sounds ya know.

It's a tough fact in crypto. Depending on my experience, I can say that the number of honest Twitter accounts is very low. We can take FTX and Luna as examples. Most crypto celebrities were promoting and defending them, which resulted in thousands of people losing their money. Unfortunately, money was buying global celebrities, who promoted some scam ICOs in the old days, so we shouldn't be surprised that crypto celebrities promote scams.

Honestly? You could tell the newbies that if you see someone promoting a token, do not buy that token because it needed someone to promote it. That would be more than enough to actually help them. If you see some influencer promoting a token, stay away from it, such a simple yet very true help.

I know that many newbies will not have any friends in crypto that can't give them this advice, but it is also such an easy one that maybe they could figure this out all by themselves? After all, why would anything that is proper and just and could go up itself, would need some influencer to promote it? Maybe newbies do not know that influencers gets paid for this, that could be an issue in that case.

Even the person you had been admiring or following on social media platforms can be just promoting a scam.

And hardest part is how to determine the real account. In fact, we have heard that several accounts have been hacked and have now been used to scam people, even though we think it was legit but behind that account is a scammer. It couldn't really give us assurance that we are dealing with the real owner of that account but can be another person that has an evil intention and they will strike anytime when there is an opportunity.

^This is not new on Twitter, they are just only paid shills, even though their own selves don't know what they promote.
As long as they get paid, there is no matter for them who they promote. That is why even with how famous you are on Twitter I don't follow those who promote such a new project, take research first before putting my money into them. In fact, there is a lot of fake in Twitter that you should know in the first place. Do always simple research if you really want to, if there is someone promoting a new project.

I know it's a bit OT, but this reminded me of the "live Tesla stream" from a hacked YouTube account with 1+ mil subscribers. It was in my YT feed at the beginning of this week, and it was extremely convincing.
This is going to become more problematic as deepfakes are getting better and the tools to detect them are not as good, however even if at some point they get better and were as good as our spam filters, the only thing a scammer needs to do is to create hundreds of them and one of them will eventually pass those filters and reach a large audience which will follow the advice given by a celebrity supposedly endorsing a scam.

Eventually the video will be taken down, but by the time this happens it will be too late for those which were unable to tell it was a false video.

If the account that they hacked often do live streams showing their face then they need to apply deep fake to mimic their face but does deep fake allows us to copy a non-famous face? Or does it allow you to upload a face of someone else? Because most that I see on deep fake videos are celebrities. If it's possible then what about their voice?

But, I think there are also voice changers which can work the same as deep fakes. They may also let you upload your own chosen voice. This is bad. Did the inventors of those tools didn't realize that their inventions can be use for taking advantage of someone else? It would be better if those software will be taken down for good.

This is a problem that will have to be addressed, as far as I know there is already AI which if given a source of your voice can be used to generate any kind of audio, and this could be used for all kind of phone scams or to try to incriminate someone.

And with deepfakes becoming more common and more sophisticated it will not surprise me if we move to an age in which we will have to doubt everything we see online as it will be impossible to tell apart a legitimate promotion from one which was created using that kind of software.
