There's something even worse than that.
Take a look at
their charity program. They collect BTC and ETH from people as donation to earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria and instead send BUSD to some NGOs.
They had to use BUSD for their publicity, they couldn't simply just switch to USD as obviously, those NGOs will exchange the BUSD immediately for fiat, not a single time they can't be 100% happy doing just the good thing with no ulterior motive or a tiny door to flash the Binance flag as the saviors of mankind. Eh, it's Binance, they use money from donations and they act like they are doing more than anybody else, I got used to this I can barely feel enraged anymore.
That won't be possible to happen because in order to quality for the airdrop you had to go through Proof of Address prior to February 6th, which was the day of the earthquake. So basically only those who already did KYC on Binance and are from specific areas (so not whole Turkey) will get $100 worth of BNB.
Identification of the users will be based on Proof of Address (POA) completed before Feb 6th in 10 cities where the earthquake has had significant impact, including: Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Malatya and Hatay.
I imagine how some who live next to those cities feel now, or the ones that are students from there but with their proof of address are now allocated to other cities.
Not to mention the ones that paid $ for somebody else to take the KYC for them.
