That's way too much. You can buy a solid hardware wallet just for the shipping costs you need to pay Fundation Devices. But this also depends on where in the world you are located. I guess m2017 is in Russia, based on the local board he writes in. The company has already stated a few months ago that EU orders will be shipped from warehouses in Europe. That covers the EU zone at least and decreases shipping fees. Perhaps it's so expensive to ship goods to and from the States due to the tariff wars that the Orange Man has started.

Indeed, including shipping, this devices is quite expensive (approximately $300-$400). Therefore, in my opinion, the idea of ​​having warehouses in Europe to reduce shipping costs seems logical. The device itself isn't exactly the cheapest, and shipping adds 30% to the overall cost.

Competitors like the Trezor offer shipping (within Eurasia) that's about three times cheaper (prices vary slightly depending on the country).

To ensure price competitiveness, it would be a good idea to reduce shipping costs for this hardware wallet (using available shipping methods).

I guess it's a combination of the two. Many different services have been leaked and had their databases stolen. If they find your info in one crypto-related database, they will just assume that you have accounts and use other services as well.

Have you looked at the reseller list? For me personally, this is a much better (cheaper option) when it comes to ordering within the EU, except for those who are extra paranoid and want to buy directly from the manufacturer. As for the discount, I don't know that I have ever seen a significant discount on this device considering that it is produced in the US and in very small quantities, unlike some others.

Actually, here is a list of shipping methods indicated on the Foundation Passport's official website.

The shipping costs depend on the location where you need the device delivered. As I said earlier, if you are in the EU, Foundation ships from within the EU. There is only one shipping method and it costs $16 (with an automatic $10 discount applied) to a random address in Germany. For other EU countries there are probably more or less similar costs.

Wow, I wasn’t aware of such positive development in their shipping policy. I’ll definitely check it out in case I need their new Passport Prime wallet, but that’s likely to be at least two years from now since the device needs to be tested over time. Plus, the price of the Passport Prime could drop by then. Even $50 - $30 decrease could make the big difference.

There are still no exact shipping dates, but in response to a fellow forum user, they mentioned it'll be by the end of the year ^[source].

I don’t expect any noticeable impact. In fact, Passport Prime consolidates familiar tools and features into the single device, rather than introducing something fundamentally new. Its hardware wallet, which is the core of the Passport Prime, offers the same functionality as their more compact device ^{Passport Core} except for the touch screen. Additionally, 2FA codes, security keys, and encrypted file storage are already available across various specialized and more advanced devices ^{like JubiKey, IronKey, etc.} .

Passport Core firmware has been updated to v2.3.10, which includes the minor improvement to button sensitivity "to avoid some instances where a single click would be registered as a double click." I’ve never experienced that issue myself. On the contrary, in rare cases some buttons I click don’t respond the first time, so I have to click again. That’s why I haven’t updated and still stick with v2.3.5.

The latest 2.3.11 firmware added support for pairing Passport Core with Bull wallet ^{which I think} is very useful for those who besides mainnet utilize Lightning or Liquid networks as that client support both. Besides this release  fixed "a minor issue where Passport Core would try to install Founder's Edition software if the user manually provided the wrong update file."

Passport Prime is one of the only devices that I would consider buying due to its features such as Magical Backups, Multple seeds, mainly the expansion of third-party apps (through KeyOS) among many other things.

The relevant backup ^{in encrypted form} is designed to be stored in SE of the smartphone where Envoy is installed. Thus, without this app, recovery is not possible. In the worst‑case scenario someone may steal your phone and gain access to the app. Then they might pair the phone with new Passport Prime and restore SEED.

P.S. For precisely this reason I have uninstalled Envoy from my phone.

I agree with you on that point about Envoy's Magic Backup, but I was referring to the Magic Backup on the Passport Prime, not the Envoy App. According to them, Passport Prime and the Envoy App have their own separate Magic Backups, so as long as you use the Magic Backup from the Passport Prime, it won't be shared with the Envoy App.

Agreed. Regarding Passport Prime, Magic Back is a bit different compared to the one used by the Envoy wallet itself. They use SSSS to split SEED into shares, two of which are stored on NFC cards, while the third is sent to SE on mobiles where Envoy is installed. To restore your SEED on a newly purchased Passport Prime you need two SSSS shares. The single share stored on mobile is not enough to do this.

Nevertheless, I don't like any excuse for leaving SEED outside SE of HW which generates it. It smells a bit like Ledger.

Zach and Foundation Devices have posted on X to announce that the company will soon start shipping out the Passport Prime orders to their customers. Early Access customers are expected to receive their new hardware devices in the next week or two perhaps.

It's about time.  I was tempted by the discount, so I signed up for the early access package, and paid for the wallet months ago.  I've been anticipating this for some time, and I expect it to be worth the wait.  My Batch 2 Passport is the keystone of my bitcoin security system.  Experimenting with and learning about the Prime's upgrades is going to be a lot of fun.

I could ask what the point is. I really doubt that anyone will own several Passport Prime devices, each costing around $300.

It would be much better if they finally added support for MuSig2 and Miniscript ^{which they promised back in Q3 2025} but those features still aren’t available.
